^It's not like most of us get a choice in which brand we get. We're buying off the street or off of people that might not have Ethex brand at their pharmacy. Dealers don't really take requests.
Knowledge is power.

i mean, i read the whole thread and i see no solution. what am i missing?
Okay so here's my "solution" to defeating the new OC time release....
A)- Become a chemist and take the time to extract the oxy out of the pill (highly unlikely for most users...)
B)- Just switch to something like Opanas or Roxies.
I think if there was a simple solution that doesn't take time or chemistry knowledge we would've already known about it. I'm coming to the conclusion that we might just have to accept defeat on this one for now. It's sad to realize but hey, there's always other shit out there, so with that being said....touche' Purdue, touche'.
PuffJ- please tell me asap- do you know what the generics look like? do they say OC 80 on them or no. just called walgreens...they only carry Tiva brand and Melekroi or something????

^In the meantime, I think taking a finely crushed oral dose with boosters is probably going to be the way to go... White grapefruit eaten 20 min or so before the crushed pill is taken should help things considerably in terms of speed of absorption, as could many other things. I think white grapefruit and maybe a small, fatty meal will be the best bets from my personal experience, though.
hey tune of turbo- thanks a lot ! it helped...unfortunately no good tho :-( trying the MEK tomorrow!

I just called wallgreens in california and they said bullshit there are no generics..
I think the ethex thing is total BS.
mallinckrodt? Here's a pic I've got of someone who got the mallinckrodt 80 generics 2 weeks ago. Hope this helps,

EDIT: Also I've got a link with some information about any new generic oxycontins.
http://www.pharmer.org/search/google/generic%20oxycontin?query=generic%20oxycontin&cx=000158012054097468402%3Ap-9mhlbf9va&cof=FORID%3A11&sitesearch=#934
FDA approved OxyContin in 1995; hits U.S. market early 96' and shoots to #1 selling non-generic narcotic analgesic by 2001.
Note: oxycodone is formulated as single ingredient products or compounded (i.e with APAP). The Compound products are both generic and brand name.
OxyContin is Purdue Pharma's BRAND-NAME for time-release single-ingredient oxycodone oral medication. The manufacturing rights to time-released GENERIC oxycodone are still under dispute... Mundipharma DISTRIBUTES (only) OxyContin in Australia, China, and Europe.
Purdue has many patents protecting its right to be the sole MANUFACTURER of time-release oxycodone, i.e."OxyContin". U.S. Appeals Courts in June 05' ruled unfavorably on Purdue's numerous patents for Oxycontin:
1. Endo Pharmaceuticals says it will immediately make a generic 'OxyContin' in the four main strengths. YET...
2. Purdue already had negotiated with another pharmaceutical company (IVAX Pharmaceuticals) to distribute their brand OxyContin in a generic form... the agreement went to crap...Watson becomes U.S. distributor of Purdue-manufactured OxyContin GENERIC tablet versions- 10mg, 20mg, 40mg, 80mg, in Oct 2005.
3. But Feb 2006 a U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals vacates the earlier ruling.
Purdue's infringement suits vs Mallinckrodt, TEVA, Endo is such:
Endo and TEVA agreed and ceased manufacture GENERIC OxyContin by end of 06'. IMPAX has a temporary license from Purdue, likely renewable 2007.
4. 2008, Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals 'reintroduces' GENERIC OxyContin in the strengths of 10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg and 80 mg, which was made possible by a temporary royalties-bearing license with Purdue Pharma that EXPIRED in 2009.
Right now, Purdue is OxyContin's only maker, baker, candlestickfaker..
Uhh- ALSO- people, States (VA, KY, NY, etc) and Governments everywhere are suing Purdue for misleading consumers on OxyContin's side effects, mislabeling the brand, Executives lying, and basically, a whole bunch a' no-no crap.
and thats precisely what we did inthebOx...thank u very much lol

the real question is why,
so perhaps the new formula was a way to get the FDA off their back while they use Ethex as a company to still distribute the old formula and still make tons of money and not lose any of their profits, stock prices and market share to other narcotic pain meds.
thats the only explanation i can personally come up with.
and for prudue its a smart move...
Exactly what i thought, great post.
Now about the Generic thing, according to pharmacies, they are listed as Generics from my understanding, but in reality they are NOT, but to a price point they are cheaper and considered "generic"
I had an idea as far as I know drugs with a proprietary delivery system such as Oxycontin especially with the whole new abuse-proof formulation need to have filed a patent with the patent office. I don't really know anything about how patents work but I do know that you can search through all of them (well possibly not all but a whole lot) on http://www.google.com/patents i did a real quick search on "Oxycontin" and sorted by date newest to oldest they have 4 patents just for this year alone if people want to start scouring over these and posting relevant parts here then we should be able to form a fairly straight forward series of experiments that we believe will solve this problem instead of just blindly trying anything we can think of. I'll start my search tomorrow hopefully this will generate some enthusiasm in what has so far been relatively disappointing. Go Team!
I apologize for my grammar it is always awful.
