IN, Indianapolis - 10.14.10 Thursday - ATB @ The Vogue

tickets reduced to make up for the TM service fee bs. Sorry folks.... you know if you go to the vogue you don't have to pay service fee they have a box office there.

Where exactly on the flyer does it list tickets being available at the vogue?

In big bold letters it says: "Prepale tickets available at the Ticketmaster and Wanttickets."

Doesnt say Vogue box office.

Not saying that I, or other vetern indy clubgoers in Indy dont know that, but what about the mindless jocks or others who frequent the area who will come in a whim because its "techno"? If Im not mistaken, a large marjoity of those people will be the main people coming. But hey, less promotion and access for presales (not even consdering the fact at ticketmaster presales tickets ARE MORE EXPENSIVE then buying at the door night of), means more money!

I assume thats the printed circulated flyer that is being passed out around town. How are people supposed to know that dont know any better tickets are there? They dont. So they are stuck paying the almost $7 in fees for pre-sales, or waiting at the door, which in turn, is CHEAPER than pre-sale tickets. I thought that was the reason for pre-sales in some circumstances, to get people a slight discount buying them beforehand. Maybe thats changed?

And the comment above, if you actually think the majority of people in Indy actually give a SHIT about how much its costs to produce a show, rather than who is there, how much they paid, and how much fun they can have, then you may actually want to move to Vegas or California. Yes there are some here that will gladly pay for the whole package, but there just isnt that many around like that anymore.

Its been proven time and time again the people/masses in Indiana generally dont care of business/cost side aspects of running a show or if they are making money, they just want to have fun.

Would you rather sell 500 tix at $20, or 200 at $30? Unless you just want a small show, have a small budget, or are doing it "for the music man" and dont care about possibly loosing face, the answer i think would be easy. But what do I know.

Nonetheless, I wish you the best with your show and hope you have great success! These two vetern indygoers who have been getting down in indy for 10+ will not be attending. Not saying this to bad mouth anyone or any shows, every knows me and Lea have been supporting the screen here and other places for many many years.

Just trying to offer an opinion of a partygoer, and not a producer. All the other "stop bitching bout the price" comments have been made by producers and organizers, or people who have a MONETARY stake in the outcome in the show. Of course they are going to be biased and thats to be expected, I would be biased if my money or my ass was on the line for stacks and stacks of cash.

Wish you guys nothing but the best and well wishs, you know we will see other around town on more than a few occassions supporting what we love.

glad to know you care so passionately about the jocks.
I thought everyone knew you can either buy at TM or go to the venue. It's that way with every concert I've ever been to for the last 15 years or so.

if i could go i would. marion county says different. good luck with this. glad to see new venues and different artists coming to indy. anything is a good thing. just my opinion, you shouldnt be jaded and nit pick every single event and just search for things that are wrong within the line up, venue, or flyer. just go and have a good time. if you dont agree with something, dont go. simple as that. =D

Vibe

Stop bitching about the cost of shows. If they charged $20 per ticket and sold out The Vogue they would lose money. The show costs more than that to produce.
slater

Then. [here comes bad ol'nasty logic] Then maybe the Vogue should consider another line of work ? Like.......I don't know coffee maybe ?.......Futon shop? You know, something realistic as far as the bottom line is concerned ? They could probably sell hella cell phones out of there....
Cause selling out your venue at $20 and still losing money sounds like....1. That's not reality. 2. None of us have the full picture.......[desperate] or #THREE 3. They just want to help everybody out and hosting big name electronic events is a favor that they do us and the cost of that favor is..........$30.00 at the door.
Now that would be real noble of them; IF I NEEDED THE VENUE MORE THAN I NEEDED THE DJ !
But since they sound like they need the money more than the kudos from EDM culture it does raise the poignant question: why even have this show. They say to us Why go ? I say to the Venue: Why have the show if yer sweatin yer nuts off to BREAK EVEN. Just book Flaming Lips or Wilco or whatever guitar ridden music puts those "I'll shell out Thirty big ones" in the door and maxed out.
Venues. As this music this builds like it is this is gonna KEEP COMING UP....ITS NOT THE LAST WE'VE HEARD OF $$BIGMONEY$$ AT THE DOOR..... Now in the case of Vegas I'd wager that yeah, they are trying to rob you. But here its even more messed up in that they are trying to go for these big scores cause they think they are gonna save themselves through diversification and they remember those glossy rave flyers from way back when with $25.00 at the door on them and if we can do that our club can break even.........................but there's something missing in all this.......remember, we've got lots of djs, promoters, venue owners /managers......but where is the common raver in all this ? SURPRISE its the missing part of the equation. Heres a good analogy: A successful event is surfing. the waves are the ravers or 'audience' Venue owners are going to the beach and observing surfing. Then they say: oh boy oh boy, I'm gonna do that too ! Then they get a surf board and go to their nearest body of water. Which happens to be a lake on a calm day..............I hope you see where this is going..........they just cant understand why it doesn't work....they have the board , they put the board on the water.......no go. The scene is once again building and people are aware of it. But it is fickle. It comes and goes. None of them are going to verbally express their concerns for money. They want to hide this reality, lack of $ in our place and time is shameful and people will say all sorts of stuff rather than say: I cant afford gas. THAT is why the NO COVER nights are gonna continue to blow up, get bigger and generate lots of revenue for the venues who understand you cant simulate 1/100th of a rave, put it in a bar with bright lights and scruffy security guys print off some postcards and HARVEST [ YES THE WORD WOULD BE HARVEST OR GLEAN ] yes, harvest that days cash out of the pockets of kids who are going to soon come to the EPIPHANY.......That, all these Djs bitchin for money and Venues slamming their POTENTIAL crowds with huge fees......are not worth the trouble they cause the scene. (of course I believe Djs should be compensated / venues too) They say: "don't bitch about ticket price" I say screw $30. They say: $30 at the door: I say all these kids need are some speakers and preferably some hardwood floors and a glow stick.
Just one. You've got to invest in the people. Its what made EDM culture what it was. Its the snowball effect, you've got to get it rolling to increase in size. NO PUN. You cant expect people to be keying in on electronic music and thinking: "That's something that I will pay to do " when they have no other related contexts for an electronic music event they have no other LIFE EXPERIENCE PRECEDENT to solidify that they will and can be privy to all the joy they seek from the scene and that they have the power to create that too. When the scene can reach that point....... a person can go to a house party one night and the next suddenly it seems reasonable to pay $30 to see this guy.....Its a feedback cycle.....they have to get more than the title: concert goer. Its a good thing we already have one, its raver. Now if we can just get back what creates them: Vibe.

uh....WUT?

You have to assume the admission price is based of the performance fee of the dj/artist.
A big name DJ like ATB probably can ask a much higher fee than your average national act.
No one is going to promote an event without at least a chance of breaking even/making a profit. At least not in this economy. So don't be upset with the club or the promoter, it's really the artist/agency that's driving up the costs.

I'm just happy to see the top artists are still coming to Indy. If you look at some of the other cities in the midwest, there's literally no EDM shows being promoted.

Now whether it's wise to promote a $30 show in Indy on a thursday night is a different argument all together. I get the feeling that it's gonna be a bust and they are going to loose, but you never know. People showed up for the other big trance shows. And I'm not a promoter, it's really not fair for me to stand back and criticize, but you can't help but wonder how much they could loose.
Anyways, I wish them best of luck and i hope there is a good turnout. I'm just glad it's not my money on the line.

Well as the expression goes "any publicity is good publicity"... I guess lol ;-)

I just logged on and read all the comments on the past two pages for the first time and let me just say this...

Carpe Noctum's mission is to give Indy the chance it deserves to see some of the great DJ's out there that have never been brought to this market for the very reasons you all are debating about. People don't want to pay the price of tickets that we are forced to sell them at, and I understand. I am truly evaluating the situation and doing my best to be fair to everyone. I love and have a passion for electronic music. I have traveled all over the country to catch big names like ATB, and I am trying to give everyone here the chance to do that without spending hundreds of dollars traveling to bigger markets. In response to the concerns with tickets.

WE HAVE DROPPED PRESALE COSTS TO $20

Due to the holiday weekend ticket master has yet to make the change, but you will see it very shortly. Once that happens you can purchase tickets @ The Vogue for face value, or online with the surchage that ticketmaster FORCES us to add on. They are available for will call purchase at www.wantickets.com/atb right now for about $23 total with the surchage.

We aren't in this business to get rich, and with this show we will most likely loose some money... But I have a passion for EDM and I want to give Indy the opportunity it deserves. If you don't want to support us, that is fine... but we do appreciate all those out there that do. And I look forward to seeing everyone on October 14th.

There is a .50 to one dollar facility fee when you use the vogue box office but no evil TM fee. Just confirmed with the Vogue.
