~~~Definition of Ayahuasca~~~
Ayahuasca ONLY contains botanicals, herbs and plants from the Amazon River Basin.
Ayahuasca must contain Banisteriopsis caapi or other Banisteriopsis species.
Ayahuasca often contains Psychotria viridis.
Ayahuasca often contains Diplopterys cabrerana.
Ayahuasca may or may not contain Ilex guayusa, Uncaria tomentosa or other traditional additives.
Ayahuasca may or may not contain other botanicals, herbs and plants from the Amazon River Basin.
Ayahuasca does NOT contain Peganum harmala or Mimosa species, nor does it contain other plants which are not native to the Amazon River Basin.
Hey there fellow, I do believe its up to the natives to define that. Check out ott's book ayahuasca analogs. Actually an even quicker option is that you could find the psychonaut channel and check out ott's talk at the psychedelic symposium in basal, its five parts and is very good, id link u but I'm posting on a mobile phone and I don't really know how to operate it all that well.:|
What is with you and defining things by your perspective objectively while trying to help people out? Ironically about what contains the indescribable lol.
Teo, you are such an old school shaman that you pretend that the actions and vibrations of the Western world or anybody who is not to your point in life yet doesn't exist through English definitions while talking about psychedelics.
Come join us modern day shamans (heresy!!! Fitting into my modern day environment whilst still seeking insight???!?!) and if you want to change our opinions, do it through rational and at least neutral argument, don't just act like every post of yours is a call out of all mankind.
I still take your posts seriously and enjoy them, I just always get harsh vibes when reading them. (shocker.... they come right back from most people!) I do see how you get on so many people's ignore lists though, which is a shame because it seems you are here with intent of spreading some ethnobotanical info and not to troll.
I think there is a lot of confusion when it comes to Ayahuasca. I know people use subtitute plants in place of the original mixture and still call it Ayahuasca.
But maybe either Teo or anyone can answer a question or two. I notice above that Ilex guayusa or Uncaria tomentosa may or may not be included in the mixture. But as far as MAOI inhibitors in the caapi, wouldn't the caffeine in Ilex guayusa or the rhynchophylline in Uncaria tomentosa be contraindicated in such a mixture to be ingested? The caution stands and understandably so. But some of the extras in a genuine Ayahuasca brew seem to call into question what can safely be mixed along with caapi.
I do have all of Johnathan Ott's books, and he seemed to have softened the idea of what can or can not be mixed with a short acting reversible MAOI by studying and even testing himself. Certainly medications can be extrememly dangerous, but some foods that use to be thought dangerous may be ok without waiting days or abstaining for days from what we learned? The diet and what can be mixed gets confusing.
OP seems to think he knows everything in a lot of his posts and acts that his information is better than others', that elitist attitude kind of bothers me.
What gives you the authority to make a post and tell people EXACTLY what Ayahuasca is and what it's not? Are you a South American shaman?
Maybe try to learn something on the boards instead of trying to correct everyone all the time and acting like a troll.
Never rated the indians version of ayahuasca. Choking down shit tasting drinks and vomiting your ringpeice up. The indians can keep it.
Moclobemide and mushrooms is the way I prefer experiencing oral DMT. Zero nausea, every bit as psychedelic and lasts hours longer.
Moclobemide and Psilocybin mushrooms doesn't equal DMT in any way shape or form though? Sure both contain a tryptamine but that's it.
Actually, Wikipedia's already got an entry on Ayahuasca.
This thread is entirely unnecessary.
MAOIs do potentiate other psychedelics besides DMT, right? To what extent?
As far as I'm aware MAOI potentiation in psychedelics only exists with tryptamines, of course I could be wrong but I know mushrooms among other things are potentiated by the addition of an MAOI.
