Codeine side effect?

Every time I dose Codeine I start to get this very odd smell in my nose. I know it's nothing around my house because my house is extremely clean. It's a horrible smell, and I only smell it when I dose codeine.

Is this a side effect?
 
It's probably the APAP who is decomposing your liver. If I were you I would get some medical tests ASAP.

I didn't even take any APAP, it was an Aspirin based CWE, and Aspirin is NOT the problem.

The way I do my CWE leaves minimal amounts of Aspirin left, probably less then what's in even half of one of the pills. My finished product is as clear as water, no cloudiness AT ALL.
 
Phantosmia, which is a condition in which you hallucinate or have altered perception of smells. Certain drugs can cause it (hash used to for me) though it is more commonly caused by brain injury or various neurological conditions. I'd say it's the drugs in your case. ;)
 
It's clearly caused by drugs since I only get this when I take Codeine. I drink 400mg, then 5 minutes later I start to smell it, then it goes away about 30 minutes later. It's REALLY weird.

There isn't really any need if it only occurs with codeine. It happened to me a few times completely sober, never got it checked though.

I'm cwe about 240mg atm.
Is this to low of a dose? :S
Or have you got high tolerance?

Yeah, Memeito is retarded. He shouldn't post anything if all he's going to do is make shit up. Might aswell tell me that Codeine causes super powers..

Well I'm apparently one of the few percentages of Caucasians who don't have the enzyme that breaks down Codeine. Most people would be smashed off 250mg but my first time I took that much and felt nothing. I also have zero opiate tolerance. Codeine was the first opiate I ever tried. Anything below 400mg and I don't feel anything. I don't advise taking 400mg to start tho, you could overdose.

I just took 430mg and that fucking smell is there again, it smells SO FUCKING BAD.
It's horrible. It's the oddest smell ever. It happens within 3 minutes of ingesting Codeine, and it USUALLY goes away within 20 minutes. I'll report back with more details on when it subsides.

From Physicians Desk Reference:
Codeine (acetaminophen and codeine phosphate) tablets contain sodium metabisulfite, a sulfite that may cause allergic-type reactions including anaphylactic symptoms and life-threatening or less severe asthmatic episodes in certain susceptible people.

Then looking further into sodium metabisulfite from wiki:
When mixed with water, sodium metabisulfite releases sulfur dioxide (SO2), a pungent, unpleasant smelling gas that can also cause breathing difficulties in some people.

So I would theorize that what you are smelling is sulfur dioxide being released as the sodium metabisulfite breaks down in the water.

As I said, I'm using Aspirin/Codeine tablets, not APAP/Codeine.

Damn you're retarded. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I TAKE CODEINE. This clearly shows that it's not a problem with my head.
 
Right.......I knew a guy who only when he smoked pot was convinced that his parents are actually imposters, creatures from another dimension...When he was high he could see other people just like when he was sober, but his parents always looked different. Anyway....long story short, he attacked his parents and was eventually put in a nut-house......
