Wellbutrin weight loss?

I get the regular, non-SL/XR welbutrin.... if i swallow the pills, they screw up my stomach really bad. I can't really eat, and though I can take most pills on an empty stomach no problem, these welbutrins are rough for some reason.
I learned this trick in jail..... I crush em up and do a couple rails from a 100mg pill. it hits a lot faster and makes me all tweaked out. like I can play speed chess while talking a mile-a-minute. the drips taste gross, but i usually just suck on a cough-drop and it masks the bitter drips.

It's been almost two months since I last did any opiates..... I kicked tramadol & a heavy pod habit, with welbutrin and lyrica. The combination has really beat down the whole "PAWS" thing. I've gotten mildly depressed here and there, but nothing like the other times I've tried to kick opiates.... especially tramadol.

Has anyone else noticed that welbutrin makes tobacco gross? I simply can't smoke cigarettes anymore.
 
Good luck. I love wellbutrin. With Zoloft I felt good until it stopped working and I was found unresponsive outside of the ER. That was horrible. Also I couldn't come on any other medicine. That used to drive me crazy. if you lose weight just take it as a gift from the Gods.
 
Uh don't snort or abuse wellbutrin in any other way! That is very fucking dangerous to say the least. You can have a seizure doing that.

You can't get the IR's where i live even in generic form so ive never had them. Eating some food before you take them might make taking them abit easier.

ixchellian - I can't even walk past a cigarette while on Wellbutrin without becoming overcome with nausea. It is prescribed as Zyban for nicotine cessation, and with good reason. I have no idea as to the mechanism of why tobacco is so gross on Wellbutrin. I do know that it is prescribed as an anti-smoking aid, and is effective as such.

It can tend to cause seizures, but is generally considered safe in someone without a history. It will not get you 'high' though in the initial phase of treatment, it lifts mood fairly quickly. The obvious things would be never to drink too much on it (1 or 2 will feel like 10) and don't mix it that the IR version feel like completely different drugs. Please use care while driving until you know it is effective as well. My road rage went off the charts ;)

Now i have no problem smoking on bupropion at all. Ive been on the name brand XL and SR versions and various generic SR versions as well as zyban which is just bupropion SR with a much higher price tag then the generic bupropion. None of them made me feel sick at all when i smoked and ive been on bupropion for about a year now (though i am lax in taking my pills sometimes) and ive been trying to quit for months.

Bupropion helps the cravings abit for sure but it does not make me feel sick when i smoke like it does to alot of people. Oddly enough when i was on a higher dose of seroquel then i am now (about 400mg's a day) with the wellbutrin it helped my cravings alot which is really odd. Maybe the seroquel was having some effect on dopamine that helped the bupropion along who knows :\
 
I don't worry about seizures with my insufflation of buproprion. It takes a good amount; 800mg being when seizures may begin to happen, and over 1200mg is when seizures are likely.
I don't do nearly that much. a single 150 can last me two days.... along with the one I swallow.
welbutrin is a little safer in all respects, imho, than SSRI and MAOI meds.
 
yup. like i said, i learned it in lock-up. it's pretty common, and it works.

i just kept doing it once i got out. I eat one as perscribed, and then rail 1/4 to 1/2 of another

In the name of harm reduction and good sense i would tell everyone not to do this! It is very dangerous and everyones seizure threshold is different. Mine is very high as it turns out but i have seen people go into grand mal seizures after skipping only a day of clonazepam at much lower doses then i take wheras i can go 2 days without it fine and have gone 3 days without it with no seizures or even very serious withdrawals despite being on 4-6mg's a day. So everyone is very different. You may be able to get away with snorting bupropion but another person could have a seizure on the very same dose.

I certainly would not risk it that is for sure. I think i shall stick to eating mine. By the way how come they don't make the IR's anymore? Is it due to the seizure risk? I have heard that seizures are less likely with SR and XL versions and that it's not a whole lot more likely to cause seizures then other anti-depressants in normal doses. I mean certain tricyclics certainly lower the seizure threshold alot so i don't know why bupropion get's such a bad rep compared to other anti-depressants for causing it. I know docs who are wary of prescribing it for this very reason.
 
then i guess i'm just some sort of high-powered drug-mutant. according to a lot of people, i've done shit that should've turned me into a gibbering headcase, yet i've always come through without so much as the sniffles.

so nobody do what i do! you'll die!

They still made the IR last I checked. It gives me horrible mania and basically makes my heart race, gives me dysphoria, and I would liken it to a low dose of meth with a massive comedown.

The SR and I are doing OK so far.

And no one should snort Wellbutrin. Really. The reason it's done in US prisons is because no one can get anything good without paying a LOT.
 
i started off on 150 wellbutrin (well the generic) and it worked really well at first for depression and helped me focus and made me less tired all the time (also made my dyslexia worse?) it is an amphetamine and it will you kill your apitie and it will make you a little edgy and what i learned is DO NOT DRINK ON WELLBUTRIN. you get so drunk so fast and its the worst kind and everything is awful for days after that. it will kill the roll for molly but only a little like i didnt peak when i took molly on wellbutrin but still really enjoyed the molly but that might have been not having enough molly. but anyway i was recently moved up to 300mg because it stopped really working (tolerance i guess) like it was keeping me for slipping into a massive depressive but hey i have no emotions now its convenient and im back to wanting to sleep forever sooo yeah. so i'd say 300mg is a bit of a step up and the 150mg is normal dosage. i kinda hate it now.
 
it you'll notice it as soon as you take it but it wont like 'settle in' untill like 2-3 weeks, doc says wait 6 to know for sure how its going to affect you. can you take roxy on wellbutrin? i've been on wellbutrin for months and i just got some roxy and im wondering what could happen i havent taken roxy before
 
You really don't need Roxi and Wellbutrin together. Wellbutrin increases dopamine slightly by reuptake inhibition. With roxis you get a god damn flood of dopamine from the opiate receptors being activated.......

Now to combat PAWS after kicking roxies, Wellbutrin can very much help as you have little to none natural endorphins flowing then. I am using it myself along with some other stuff very successfully.
