When I was sick, as a kid, my parent's would often give me something with diphenhydramine in it and I would be out cold in no time at all. Now, I never really used any sleep aids and even when I'm sick I have a tendency to not take anything for it so I haven't had much exposure to either of these substances in a number of years. However, after I blew out all the cartilage part of my back during a football game, I started having issues sleeping because of the pain. My sleep issues are much worse now since after several different ignorant jackass doctors, it took two years before anyone did a single positive thing. That's a story for another time, though. Anyway, I started trying the OTC sleep aids and I first gave diphenhydramine a chance, but it did nothing and gave me a sensation that my skin was crawling. It could've just been because I was so uncomfortable, but I also got angered pretty easily during that time. Next, I tried doxylamine. Now this worked much better. It's sedating and will help you sleep pretty well, unless you have insomnia so bad that you have been up for 72 hours now like I have

Also, it may have been mentioned in this thread already but the bio-availability of doxylamine goes way up if it is insufflated. I'm talking about going from like twenty-something percent to around seventy. It may be worth it to you, but if you can fall asleep off one tablet then there is really no need to do that. Hope it all works out!
