A follow up to the OP's question:
Was there ever a time that you said that you would absolutely never pick up the needle? Or was there a time that you were even scared to us IV?
I'm sorry fo quoting myself but I would love to have this answered..

I would never support how there is so much of a stigma about bootin up. but the thing is alot of yall on here just dont even understand how bad it gets. becuz of your resources, etc. the college kids in middle class land shootin up with micron filters and new needles everytime and rotate injection sites, etc, thats all great....but once you start fuckin up, or when you aint got those resources to begin with, and you dont live that kind of perfect model-drug-user life thats when all the shit that you been told about the needle does come true.
Shootin up with Gatorade, or sprite, or snow that you grabbed off the side of the road on the block that you just copped your dope on, cuz you aint got no water and cant afford water and you so fucking sick that you cant even be bothered to wait the 10 minute til you can get to a bathroom thats safe enough to shoot up in and use their water...so you take the snow in your bottle and blow the heat vents on it til it melts and shoot up with that....or tryin to catch rain water with your bottle as you drive away from the spot...shit like that....Sittin pokin your self over and over for 45 minutes or a hour, just tryna get a shot in your fuked-up-ass veins....the skeezy, scuzzy shit that you do, it happens...and it may not happen at the beginning of your "im so in control" phase but you go long enough and it will....
I aint sayin that you guys are missin out cuz you aint haha.....jus sayin, that when you from this kind of environment that so many of yall seems to be from, this kinda upper middle class college kid type shit, where you got a perfect lil pharmacy kit that you use each time you boot up and you never do anything even slightly unsanitary when you boot up...So you never known how it feels to just shoot up anywhere you can, to OD in stairwells of apartment buildings, to be out on the street and have to make do with anything you can...to share needles and not think twice becuz you are so sick you cant even bother...and shit like that...you DO do it, it DOES happen, it aint just myths...And i dont like how people treat iv drug users look down on them how i got treated in my years of shootin dope....and thebias and stereotypes do hurt and make you mad...but alot of that shit does happen and it aint just boogie man myths meant to scare you becuz you can go down so low

IME most people say that. I never did but about 50% of the people i know who ended up shootin swore they never would.
And now i got one other thing to say but first i wanna say yo, i hope u dont think im pickin on u since i made a comment about your post once already today in your other thread, but its just a coincidence....But i just wanted to say--give people some time yo--people dont always reply right away. Give it a few days, and a good number of replies, before you quote yourself again and repeat the question. there was only a post or 2 between the first time u asked it and the second time when u quoted it, you gotta give ppl a minute to catch up and answer. I know you just wanted to hear the answer and prolly just got anxious like , damn answer me already! So it aint no big deal, it aint like its some kind of rule you broke. Its just kinda considered to be like....I guess "Etiquette" here in DC/on BL in general.
I know you pretty much got the idea since you did apologized for self quotin. I just wanted to tell you that you CAN quote your self sometimes, but just dont be gettin so impatient, give it some time and wait to do it til a good enough amount of time has went by that you are sure people skipped over you, and then its OK to say "hey yall....I really wanted to see the answer to this, did yall miss my question? Ima quote it again in case people didnt see it"
An that is the end of lacey K's Drug Culture Forum Posting Etiquette Lesson for today :D![]()

I think the distinction needs to be made between IV drug use and a habit, the foremost being a narcotic habit. I got over the latter a long time ago, but still find IV a viable route for all kinds of substances. Using a needle and habitual use are two distinct things - one facilitates the other but they are not necessarily the same.
I IV substances to use less, get a faster rush and bypass first pass metabolism by the liver. I as a rule no longer use meth, heroin or cocaine and have never IVed regularly. With that in mind, I have had many intense experiences via this route which I would not have enjoyed otherwise. I think if I was shooting dope I would feel otherwise and be in the regretful camp.

Aren't there any good stories with intravenous drug use? Not everyone suffers the horrors described in this thread; some of it sounding like stereotypes. I have no doubt that some IV users have suffered an awful hellish experience.
Nevertheless, there's gotta be people aplenty who fit Lacey's upper-middle class IV population, with resources, clean works, ready cash, clean records and college degrees-- wish more of them would step up

hahahahaha. Maybe they started off with that ..... but it will all be gone within the year. I went to a private catholic school played sports all around good kid. 2 years im shootin speedballs of crack and heroin in the hood with a dirty rig homeless. There are no good stories with IV drug use whether you have 1 penny or a billion dollars. Look at fucking famous ppl who shoot dope... THEY DIE. That was the most retarded post i ever read.
microtel; said:"most retarded post ever"? Really?
Famous IV drug users:
Keith Richards
William S Burroughs
Robin Williams
Dan Ackroyd
Charlie Watts
John Lennon
Well, okay I can't think of any others that are famous but they don't all die from drugs and I personally know a half dozen people who are successful IV drug users; they are careful and discreet and use heroin as a holiday. They don't pass judgment and they keep to themselves. The problem we see in this discussion is misuse rather than proper use. Too simplistic.
Believe me, some of you are coming home after work and in principle refuse to drink alcohol and choose an IV smack dose instead on a Friday after a hard day at the office. I suspect there are more of them than you can ever imagine because the discussion is always limited to "misuse". And therefore we only hear the horror.
It's just too simplistic to say the needle always leads to horror. People, human beings, are more than just the sum of their collective parts. That's what makes us beautiful and separate from lowly primates: human individuality and intelligence and compassion and ability for choosing self-control.
