apparat, boards of canada, cinematic orchestra, wonky techno mixes, panther du prince, kruder & dorfmeister, doves, allsorts really

one mix i love tripping to is metawuffmischfelge by wighnomy brothers. we used to play that a lot when we had laughing gas + k + mdma sessions last year

the new trentemoller xlr8r podcast is also superb for it - trippy psychedelic rock thats slightly re-edited with electronica, mixed with downbeat techno - free to download here and probably already my mix of the year (i am not trentemoller in case you wonder - this isnt self promotion :)

you can download the mix here

Depending on the trip Future Sound of London will lead to amazing CEVs if you can just let the music guide your thoughts. Just avoid The Darkness album. FSOL tends to have positive themes and lyrics (like the song below) which favour a mellow trip.

Every time my partner and I hear this song we get reminded of a very positive 2nd plateau DXM drip I had (for which she was a sitter). Nice mellow lay back and relax and let music guide thoughts/CEVs.

Probably will bore the shit out of anyone not wanting to chill.

Yes superb tune!! whoahh!

eyen by plaid is up there for me too.

Boards of canada - music is math

apparat - Fractales

In my opinion, there is absolutely NO competition when it comes down to the best songs for tripping, as well as rolling. Everyone I've ever showed these songs to has absolutely loved them, and they are both absolutely bliss inducing and wonderfully upbeat. May result in tears.

Song 1

Hate Deadmau5 normally, but this was quite nice would like to hear this tripping or rolling, could expect some real euphoria!

MGMT is great. I saw them last night but unfortunately I wasn't tripping. A large percentage of the crowd was though. They were still great. Also always listen to The Killers and Kid Cudi.

I agree about SHPONGLE... especially "Nothing Lasts and Nothing is Lost" is quite profound while tripping.

However:

YES - Close to the Edge. Hearing this tripping strong you become instantly hypnotized and by the end your heart feels opened and touched like nothing else. Just so lofty and perfect.

Jon Anderson's solo record "Olias of Sunhillow" is also phenomanally awesome, though not as "classical" sounding...alot more intricate.

Google "Olias" and check it out, it is available at multiple music download stores/sites.

Back to YES: Close to the Edge is also very outstanding as an antidote to a bad trip... if you can get them to lie down and just listen, that is. Even just reading the lyrics is therapeutic. Ah, the classic age of psychedelic rock...

I. The Solid Time Of Change
(Anderson/Howe)

A seasoned witch could call you from the depths of your disgrace,
And rearrange your liver to the solid mental grace,
And achieve it all with music that came quickly from afar,
Then taste the fruit of man recorded losing all against the hour.
And assessing points to nowhere, leading ev'ry single one,
A dewdrop can exalt us like the music of the sun,
And take away the plain in which we move
And choose the course you're running.

Down at the edge, round by the corner,
Not right away, not right away -
Close to the edge, down by a river,
Not right away, not right away -

Crossed a line around the changes of the summer,
Reaching out to call the color of the sky,
Passed around a moment clothed in mournings faster than we see.
Getting over all the time I had to worry,
Leaving all the changes far from far behind,
We relieve the tension only to find out the master's name.

Down at the end, round by the corner,
Close to the edge, just by a river,
Seasons
II. Total Mass Retain
(Anderson/Squire)

My eyes convinced, eclipsed with the younger moon attained with love.
It changed as almost strained amidst clear manna from above.
I crucified my hate and held the word within my hand.
There's you, the time, the logic, or the reasons we don't understand.

Sad courage claimed the victims standing still for all to see,
As armoured movers took approach to overlook the sea,
There since the cord, the license, or the reasons we understood will be.

Down at the edge, close by a river,
Close to the edge, round by the corner.
Close to the end, down by the corner,
Down at the edge, round by the river.

Sudden call shouldn't take away the startled memory,
All in all, the journey takes you all the way,
As apart from any reality that you've ever seen and known.
Guessing problems only to deceive the mention,
Passing paths that climb halfway into the void,
As we cross from side to side, we hear the total mass retain.

Down at the edge, round by the corner.
Close to the end, down by a river.
Seasons will pass you by -
I get up, I get down.

III. I Get Up, I Get Down
(Anderson/Howe)

In her white lace, you could clearly see the lady sadly looking,
Saying that she'd take the blame
For the crucifixion of her own domain.
I get up,I get down, I get up, I get down.

Two million people barely satisfy,
Two hundred women watch one woman cry, too late.
The eyes of honesty can achieve,
How many millions do we deceive each day?
I get up, I get down.
I get up, I get down.

In charge of who is there in charge of me,
Do I look on blindly and say I see the way?
The truth is written all along the page,
How old will I be before I come of age for you?
I get up, I get down.
I get up, I get down.
I get up, I get down.

IV. Seasons Of Man
(Anderson/Howe)

The time between the notes relates the color to the scenes.
A constant vogue of triumphs dislocate man, so it seems.
And space between the focus shape ascend knowledge of love.
As song and chance develop time, lost social temp'rance rules above.
Ah, ah.

Then according to the man who showed his outstretched arm to space,
He turned around and pointed, revealing all the human race.
I shook my head and smiled a whisper, knowing all about the place.
On the hill we viewed the silence of the valley,
Called to witness cycles only of the past.
And we reach all this with movements in between the said remark.

Close to the edge, down by the river.
Down at the end, round by the corner.
Seasons will pass you by,
Now that it's all over and done,
Called to the seed, right to the sun,
Now that you find, now that you're whole -
Seasons will pass you by,
I get up, I get down -
I get up, I get down -
I get up, I get down -
-Ah
pass you by -
I get up, I get down.
Now that it's all over and done,
Now that you find, now that you're whole.

Spacey electronic group Solar Fields... very beautiful and appropriate trip music, "Movements" album and all others

On the classic rock side, and album by the German Group "Amon Duul II" called "Wolf City" is phenomenal!! The compositions, the instrumental playing, multilayered, multicultural... very advanced sounding though it was done in the 70s. Check it out... mindblowing!

Get a free trial membership to eMusic including 45 free mp3 tracks you keep forever, and you can get both Amon Duul II as well as Solar Fields albums there.

(EDIT: Note - NOT A PLUG!!! I am not spamming on behalf of eMusic, I just find them very useful as you can access your tracks and re-download forever from any computer, even give trusted friends your login info and have a way to share the mp3s... I am not an employee or promoter, I am pretty sure they frown on sharing but do not at present detect it... I just want to pass along a tip about what I have found is a great service, nothing more! Sorry if it sounds like spamming, its not)

Also check out this record, also on eMusic:

Kaya Project
"...& So It Goes"

Just absolutely glorious! Only one I have but reviews indicate all his albums are stellar... very ecstatic mix of rock and middle eastern and symphonic and elecrtonic. Passionate to the max.

Ayreon... Vaski.. Gorillaz... Whitechapel despite what it is is incredible tripping, Kamelot. Basically anything I already like is also amazing too, no matter what it is. I just tend to have more appreciation for calm, chill phat sounding music with crisp quality when i'm trippin.

Telefon Tel Aviv - Fahrenheit Fair Enough

I actually never listened to it while tripping, but very often while being very high on good weed, and my god, these sound literally go into your head, there is so much detail in it. Will definitely try it on psychedelics the next time i come to trip :D

so sad, that on half of the duo is gone, would kill to see them live :/

TOOL

I frankly run into absolute euphoria while tripping with tool playing. their material is so influenced by psychedelics and their thelemistic philosophies compliment what is usually running through my mind. Lateralus is basically my tripping anthem. never trip withoutt it.

Here's a studio version with crisper audio and a lovely church organ of The Nothing Song with some edited footage from Vanilla Sky... quite nice. (SPOILER ALERT!). Video quality setting also includes 480p in this vid.

Got chills watching/hearing this.... God what a fantastic film.... they dont make 'em like that any more! Well maybe... "Inception" seems in that class.
