i've have never been R'xd any sleeping meds untill a week ago. The first med I was given was

250 of trazadone before bed = very jittery and made any possible sleep even more impossible. had a resting(in bed) heart rate of 95.

Then

10mg of ambien before bed = didn't even make me drowsy and definitely got no seep.

Now currently i'm taking Restoril(temazapam)30mg = again no help in sleep and i don't even feel the least bit drowsy.
they even gave me vistaril to add with the temaz and still nothing.

can any one relate or explain why?

You could have a natural tolerance or just need a higher dose... Trazadone sucks for sleep... Ambien never put me to sleep... and I must get my hands on some temazepam.

Are you using any sort of stimulants, even mild mannered ones such as caffeine? In cases of chronic insomnia they should be avoided all together.

Also, I find over the counter Benadryl / (Diphenhydramine) to be more sedating and help with getting to sleep much more than the great majority of the Rx-ed sleep meds. Just a thought if you hadn't already tried it.

I've been on every sleep med possible. I have a high toleracnce and now I'm on 4 rhovanes 7.5mg a night and I get the best sleep ever. Talk to ur doc and try it out. U won't regret it

maybe you're not exerting enough energy during the day? i used to be prescribed valium, and i had the same experience as you, i found it worked better when i had had a busy day, if not then it would seem to have the opposite effect on me.

Seroquel (quetiapine), a neuroleptic/antipsychotic is sometimes prescribed off label for insomnia. It is the only medication that knocks me out no matter what I have in my body. Once I had ingested orally about 50mg of methamphetamine (obviously a very strong stimulant) and I started having a bad trip. The only thing I had on me at the time other than the meth was seroquel and it was prescribed at the time to me for insomnia. I took 100mg (about 1 hour after taking the 50mg of meth) and it knocked me out for about 12 hours.

i know that other drugs such as soma, kpin, and xanax can put me to sleep pretty nicely. however I'm scripted those for actual anxiety issues so I like to save them (benzos) for during the day. and NO i only get xanax OR kpin scripted at a time not both together.

as a mater of fact i posted this yesterday and i also happened to hike a mountain in 100+ degree weather (Glendale, AZ) so i would say that i did exert and generally do exert enough effort to be tired. I went hiking yesterday and typed this up before bed because i couldn't get tired.

It's now 8AM my time and i'm rarely up this early but for some reason i can't sleep if i wake up all of the sudden?

HELP!!!!

ALSO for my restoril(trazadone) i get 3 refills of 7 pills. so my question is should i pop two tonight? 60mg?

i would have already tried it but i only get 7 pills at a time so double dosing will leave me with nights with nothing

5mg of Zolpidem (ambien) still knocks me out. I use it everyday pretty much sometimes up to 20mg.

^That could be why the Restoril isnt working for you too well. Im currently Rx'd both Seroquel 100mg and Restoril 30mg, and the Seroquel is way better for knocking you out...and if 100mg doesnt work they'll go as high as 800mg for sleep AFAIK

well should i just double my dose tonight and take 60mg of temazepam at a time and see how that works out?

shit i had to end up wasting some somas just to fall asleep last night rather than use them during the day for my actual back pains.

I can slam ambien (like snort or take 7-8 a day if i want) and have no effect but a light calm and mild disassociation feeling. Some people dont react as well to these meds. I thought i was weird too. I have taken double that trazadone with no urge to sleep. Welcome to the insane club bro.

well thanks for having me!

i see my psychiatrist in about 2 weeks. is possible for him to script me xanax as a sleep aid and another benzo such as kpin or valium for my dailiy anxiety?

If you take Xanax or Klonopin, which are potent benzos, then I assume you have a tolerance. Temazepam is a hypnotic benzo, yes, but 10-30mg is the standard starting dose for insomnia. Temazepam is also usually (at least over here) the first benzo hypnotic they try after the Z-drugs. If you've got a tolerance for benzos, the equivalent of 15mg diazepam isn't gonna floor you. Either up your dose and see if it works, or ask for a stronger hypnotic, such as nitrazepam, midazolam or triazolam.

Also, since you take benzos during the day you may want to consider other kinds of drugs for insomnia to stop tolerance buildup, although heavy-duty benzos are among the most efficient short-term hypnotics. I wouldn't recommend SSRIs (mirtazapine is used for insomnia) or antipsychotics (quetiapine/Seroquel) because of horrible zombifying effects and withdrawals, but it doesn't sound like there are any easy solutions.

But basically, if temazepam isn't cutting it, there are way stronger ones.
