exactly what it says, folks. i am going to be kicked out of my house in two weeks and do not have anywhere to go. i'm a full time student, so i have no job and my unemployment was recently terminated.

i don't want to go back to rehab for three hots and a cot, man.

freakin' out. please help.

If drugs are the reason you're being kicked out, and you're a full time student, then by all means go to rehab.
Was there an actual ultimadum thrown at you? Like "if you don't go to rehab we're kicking you out?" Cause in that case I'd say the answers rather clear.

Live on the street and use, or have a home after rehab to live and be clean.

If thats NOT the case, and they're just kicking you out with no conditions, than I hate to say I'm not the person to answer this. I've spent time in prison and know homeless people will often commit crimes just to have a bed & 3 meals to eat. But prison by all means should never be an option.

I'd actually appreciate maybe a bit more elaboration on this story before I start ranting about shit that doesn't really apply. Thanks.

Also, Bojangles has a good point. If you are getting kicked out because of drugs, chances are you need to go to rehab. It's better than being homeless, yeah?

Take care of this while you're young and have a support system... It only gets worse from here unless you seek help.

No, I am not being kicked out of the house for anything drug-related. August 31st was the agreement, so I thought I had more time to try and sort things out. The reason that I had to make an agreement to be out by August 31st is because I wanted to get on rehab and get back on my feet. I've been going to school, and my unemployment went to the house until it was terminated a couple of weeks ago.

so yeah, if that clears anything up..

Thanks. It did clear some things up. If drugs aren't the problem, you should just get a job in addition to your school work and toil away like so many of us [unfortunately] have to do :P

In the mean time I would start talking to friends about whether or not you can couch surf for a week or so until you get back on your feet.

Good luck with everything!

and IF you can't do both school/work then obviously you know what you have to do and drop your classes and put school off for a little while until you get on your feet and your own place. School isn't going to do you a bit of good if you're homeless. And maybe next semester you can take 2 MAYBE 3 classes..that's why I do I don't go over 9 credits and just do summer courses to make up for the credits i miss throughout the fall/spring semester. Whatever you choose to do, Good Luck!:\

Thats the same reason its taken me 7 years to graduate, not going over 9 credits that is. I'm jobless myself atm but for most of school I did 9 credits and worked like 35 hours a week. It was actually rather easy to do and I wouldn't change a thing, I personally don't mind graduating late at all.
I have a friend who works from 7-3, goes to school 4-9, then works out from 9-11 at school. I would personally break down on a schedule like that and have a heart attack but people DO do it. I also think the idea about couch surfing isn't a bad idea. Sometimes the people you least expect to take you in are the most hospitable people in the world.

CouchSurfing!

It works. lol

I was homeless for most of last year, living out of my car. A tent & campgrounds/secluded places are handy. Public transportation helps cut down on overhead costs.

Oh, and hit up Pizza Huts for free pizza. They always have some that people order & never pick up, or are done with wrong toppings and sent back. Those just get thrown away or snacked on by the employees.

If ur not usin dope, u cud start getn 2 no
people at NA meetngs coz if ur clean, they
bend over b wards 2 help u an let u crash
on their couches. My bud lived at the
salvation army n LA. They strict but they
want u 2 go college. They help w findin
work or apt wen ready as long as u clean
u can live an eat free.

Been there, done that.

First you need to evaluate your situation. ie: friends or family who can help you out. If there is no one, for whatever reason, then you need to prepare for what is coming. Finding a job is important, but it is also important to find shelter. It would be very hard to work while living out of a car or whatever. Not impossible, but harder. And that's assuming you have a car. But there are things like showers, and hygiene to worry about.

Failing that, there is rehab, but you have to be prepared to commit to that type of program.

If you're not ready for rehab, or don't think you need it, you have to find a place to live.

So, do the thing you don't want to do. Google is your friend, research what shelters are in your area. Find out the best ones, usually more suburban, and I found the ones that catered to both family and singles to be better.

Some shelters may require a referral from your local department of human or social services. Call and find out. Some will have waiting lists. Some will be first come first served. The longer you wait, the harder it is to get into one. As it gets colder, they fill up faster. And you have to be prepared to move into one when they're ready for you, not when you're ready for them. Meaning if you call and they say "yes we have a space for you", you go. You don't wait til the day you're on the street and then call around. There may be no open spots, and then you screwed yourself.

It is obviously not ideal. But it isn't as bad as your imagination may make it. If you do a little research, or calling around, you can find one that is safe, and clean. You'd probably be sharing a room with 3 other guys, but you won't be sleeping on a bench.

It's a place to sleep, eat, shower, and get resources. (like job help)

You can manage. Get past the panic.

ur not alone.

i would just make a new agreement. whatever it takes to not get kicked out in two weeks. play it cool. you could always reneg on the agreement later. just get back in the house, man.

^horrible idea. do what you gotta do to make it on your own man. itll suck at first but then youll be glad you did after youve figured it all out.

I was in the same situation as you, though I was evicted (no parents kicked me out - if they aren't going through the legal system to kick you out you can refuse to leave until they do), and a full time student.

Good luck is all I have to say really. Get good at couch surfing, and always make sure you have somewhere to sleep for the night. Hopefully one day you'll land back on your feet again, have a job, and can suport yourself.

I worked at a pizza hut, the employees are too high to help you more often than not.

Seeing as the manager I left under was stealing money from the employee's paychecks (like, the dish washer who is mentally disabled, and can't prove the manager is stealing money from his paycheck), I doubt (this specific store I worked at) would give you free pizza.

ha, depends on the Pizza Hut, man. some places will make sure it's unedible by the time it makes it to the trash just so the homeless will stay away. i worked at an Arby's that was like that. fucked up shit, man.

as far as my status on finding a place: there's a halfway house in town for people recovering from drug and alcohol addictions that a couple of friends and a few of the homeless people around town reccomended. i called this morning and was told to come in at 11:30 for an interview(my guess is to make sure i'm not a criminal, etc?) and that they only have a three day wait list right now. the guy on the phone told me that as long as i come in this morning or tomorrow morning, i should have a place to stay.

i've heard good things about this place helping people get back on their feet, and plus, it's shelter. of course, i won't be able to get high or drink there, but those are not really top priorities at this moment in time.

wish me luck, i'll post back on how it went later.

Something I learned the hard way, and may or may come up.....They may ask you where you slept last night, or the past week, etc. I was honest and told them and they said, well that's technically out of the city limits so we can't help you, bye.

Little shit like that, it's just knowing how to play their game. Also, if you talk about psychological problems they could possibly require a visit with a doctor/therapist.

Anyway, good luck.

woah woah woah woah woah...that turned out all bad.

advertise as a half-way house, and turn out to be a hardcore christian twelve step that lasts 4 months to a year? then also turn out to be $375 a month?

no thanks, if i want christian rehab, i'll at least go back to the one that i was in this spring where i know the staff and it was free.
