Recommend me a book

Im going on holiday in a weeks time and need to get a couple of books to kill some time.

Im not a big reader so don't want anything too heavy, something thats an easy read would be good.

All pointers welcomed..........................

A Suitable boy by Vicram Seth very long and very readable reminds me of the best holiday and the best time I ever and will ever have.

Chalie Chaplin's autobiography unfortanetely in German.

And I have yesterday bought and began to read "Choke" and "Fight Club" (<--big fat urge to read that for awhile, so happy to have it now) both by Chuck Palahniuk.

I think I will first finish "Fight Club" than "Choke". And Chaplin? - don't know when that's gonna happen. Kinda lost interest.

It's got to be Steig Larsson's trilogy, the girl who with the dragon tattoo, the girl who played with fire and the girl who kicked the hornet's nest. Just about to start the last one but been saving it to bring on vacation this week. Amazing books, very easy to read and total page turners. I hope u give them a try, everyone I know who's read them loved them.

Netherland - Joseph O'Neill Just finished this and was very impressed by the near perfect writing contained within this book

I'm not much of a bookreader but am trying to get around to reading George Orwells 1984. I want to read Animal Farm as well. My mum told me that when she was in school they had to read both these books, as if they'd let you read anything like that nowdays in the curriculum! Apparently these books are more relevant to todays society than ever!

Family Matters - Rohinton Mistry
This Book Will Change Your Life - AJ Holmes
The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini (sp?) -
Cloud Atlas - David Mitchell
4 i've read this year and thought were good, some are a few years old.

Nearly finished the selfish gene by richard dawkins, bought derren browns book and another richard dawkins book today about religion, also danny wallaces latest book (forgot the names of last 2)

^Is Animal Farm not an option as per the curriculum anymore? Or can teachers use their own discretion?
not when i was at shcool, it was either macbeth or romeo and juliet. kind of boring and irrelevent to life's challenges I think.

^not irrelevant..shakespeare tells you about love, betrayal and other highs and lows in life..also creativity with words <3

ohhhh yes...they don't put these books on reading lists anymore much coz they don't want you to see the connection when you're young. BASTARDS!!

Any good?

I havn't decided yet... he seems to be a very strange writer - one chapter buggd th shit out of me, then the next was pretty fascinating, only read 4 chapters so far...has potential, coz whilst being annoying in part it's prtty interesting too...
