    Welcome Guest!

Has anyone successfully regained "magic" by taking an extended break?

thanks, accnamex... btw, i noticed that people have started calling me "sir," hahaha... i know i'm on corporate track and i said w/ my own mouth that i have an early mid-life crisis, but i'm 34 y.o.; ancient, i know, but not exactly old enough to belong to the citizenry of sir-hood. :)

hey, i noticed you have a store! i should've ordered from you instead of these ebay vendors!!!

im trying to wait 5 months til i roll again. I havent nearly abused as much as some of you guys (30 pills in 2 years or less) so im super pumped after reading these stories. gonna be epic!!!

Ive been using and often abusing MDMA/Pills for over 20 years and I still LOVE the drug - its such an amazing feeling. If you space out your rolls or take a break every now and then theres nothing stopping you enjoying it for years to come.

Its way easier to keep the magic as to try and get it back.

I abused MDMA a few years back and I was feeling so shitty that I told myself that I was done with it. I had horrible depression, insomnia, etc...However, like most of us, I ended up using again after about 5 months and the roll still wasn't the same as it was in the beginning. I took another 5 month break and then rolled again with some clean/tested pills and it was good but still was missing something. All the breaks really did was lower my tolerance. Granted I still enjoy it and it is still fun, I just never regained some of the things that made me love E soo much like the crazy awesome headrush I used to get or the empathy and closeness I felt with others. I still feel really good when I roll but I don't know if I'll ever get back to those beginning days.

I had a really really long break between my 2nd and 3rd time, and that 3rd time was FANTASTIC, absolutely that special magic thingy :)

Never had that again since then, but I have just received a sample of Piracetam, and I have read very positive things about Piracetam results. You take it a few hours or so before rolling, and apparently it brings back a lot of that magic. When the time gets there I will post results somewhere over here :)

I took a 2.5 month break recently and I did notice increased 'magic'. I also seemed to re-gain the magic when I hippie flipped and I still had a tolerance and loss of magic at that time.

This all occurred during the past year of usage when the molly and pills I was getting were so good I couldn't help but be a little irresponsible with the frequency of my doses. But prior to all that I took a one year break and yes, the magic did come back for me when I decided to drop again.

I kind of think MDMA "magic" is similar to the way an amazing song is- the first time you hear it, it's amazing and overwhelming, and you listen to it again just to take it all in....but the more you play it, the less amazing it is, even though it's the same song....and if you stop listening to it for a long time, it's pretty great again, but you can't recapture the way it was when it was brand new to you.

I'm likely taking a 4-5 month break after a camping trip in August-we have no occasion to roll again until NYE, and I'm passed the stage of making excuses or events to roll at ;) I do hope it will result in the return of some magic, but at the very least, I know it will be good for me. I know 4-5 months is hardly a long break- some people only roll 2x a year, but it can't hurt to take some time off.

We leave 3 to 4 months between rolls. But you know after a while you know what to expect so that novelty effect is over and that you can never have again.

About half my magic was gone after rolling and doing molly for two weeks. Some times every day.

Then noticed that a few weeks later my roll trip, which were good rolls. Just did not give the 100% magic to get off to.

So started taking other chems and shit. Think it was 6 months or so before rolling again. Took two moderate dosed pills and had a Great Roll! It is good to pre load vitamin c and others while rolling to help reduce neurotoxicity that can help induce the loss of magic imo

I have, I used to roll way too much back in 2009, but I stopped for a few months and rolled every 1 or 2 months and it was extremely fun.

I definitely say you can get the magic back after stopping rolling for a while.

If loss of magic from MDMA was "getting used" to the effect it caused, then that would happen with all drugs -- yet MDMA is the one that's most notable (I know people talk about some loss of magic with others, but MDMA is notoriously known for it by name). I know taking time off works and I know piracetam helped me last time (or maybe it was the 4.5 months I took off? Before that I took a two month break). I intend on rolling about a week from now which will make it about a month and a half since my last roll (on MDMA, at least >.>). I guess we'll see just what happens with that. I still believe that loss of magic is caused by damage to serotonin transporters and that time can take care of that.

Another thing I just thought of, though. If it WAS novelty that had gone away, then what if you used something that dissolved associations like LSD or shrooms (which would make things more novel, which explains why some people on those drugs report feeling "like a kid again") and then took MDMA? If loss of magic was just loss of novelty, wouldn't that alone reverse loss of magic?

Just a thought, all speculation on my part =D

I always thought that the loss of magic had a real, biochemical answer rather than the novelty explanation, i.e. getting "used to" the effects, that when doing mdma, there's a serotonin depletion... and that in order to enjoy it fully again, one needs to let the serotonin level build back up... I never looked into whether the serotonin level gets fully back to the previous level, and if so, how long... but it stands to reason that the longer you wait, the better chance you have at having the serotonin back up almost completely?

This is the way I always understood it as well. The longer you go, the better your roll. You're essentially "recharging" your roll. The longer you wait the better that roll is going to be =)

Which is exactly why I'm literally dying in my seat until this Monday. :X

I'm told that there will be different varieties of candies... really good stuff.

I haven't rolled in over 6 months, I hadn't compeletely lost the magic, but ill report back after Lovefest Hawaii 2010 (which is tomorrow)

it's more than just the serotonin levels because you don't deplete your serotonin when you roll. What happens is the serotonin receptors down-regulate in response to the flood of serotonin. If you keep rolling they stay down regulated. With time they will up-regulate; how long may be different with different people. And, some feel that they never quite up-regulate to pre-mdma levels which is why the first few times are the best. MDMA IS the feeling of novelty! Some of us have used supplements that up-regulate receptors and have had rolls that have matched or exceeded the first rolls.

Do a google search for: returning the "magic" the quest
for a very long and interesting thread on another forum on this topic

that's good to know, thanks for the wisdom avcpl. can you suggest some supplements to up-regulate the receptors? not feeling like reading through an epic thread on it, pls give me the cliffs notes version.

Saint John's Wort at high doses for a short period and then a buffer period (coupled with a break) did the trick for me. Now I never lost the magic, but lost what I call the "MAGIC"--meaning mdma naive levels. I would really recommend reading the thread as there are lots of different theories, successes, and failures...

You mean those St. John's Wort they sell at pharmacy stores? I should try this on Monday... what do you mean by high dose? I'll check out the thread, too...

This is fantastic news. I abused quite a bit when I was 17-18, and while I never really lost the magic, it definitely wasn't that overwhelming bliss I once felt.

I'm 26 now and just rolled again for the first time in almost 5 years. It was AMAZING! Best roll of my life hands down. I plan to continue using, but definitely will space them out much more from now on. I don't ever want to lose that feeling!

Peace.
