Who else is appreciating their pets right now??
Me!!! My Emmie gives me teh epic snugglz <3 She is curled up on my bed right now because she gets pissy when my lap moves around too much =D I think i shall join her. I have Star Trek TNG and muh kitties, don't need nuthin else. :)

And I wanna travel too!!! *whine!* I might be going to Europe with my best friend this fall if I can get the money together. We want to be in Germany for Oktoberfest, and I have several spots I need to visit in Europe before I'll ever stop dreaming about it.

^ I want to go to Germany too!!
I have a friend who moved to Berlin a while back and he says I can camp out in his living room- and my brother lives there too!! I wannnna go so bad!
And of course, I LOVE German food.

Yay for laptops and health. Waiting on the final verdict on the first and not feeling too great atm. Everything just kinda sucks, I need a real job, so I'm a tad emo.

legal drama w/ my partner continues, they almost put him in Rimutaka on remand for... no apparent reason but the judge basically asked the police prosecution "on what grounds?" and they didn't have any so he was bailed again, but remanded AGAIN (this is the 4th remand before the status hearing wtffff) until the 29th. 8)

so frustrated with all of this that i could scream.

& to chip in re: travel
ive been nomadic for about 10 yrs (last 10 yrs i have *lived* in santa cruz, Darmstadt (germany), LA, new york, copenhagen, lund (southern sweden), sydney, wellington and now colorado).. and traveled extensively in scandinavia/europe/australasia/central america... travel is essential to me, even though its insanely disruptive and other than my writing & paint/drawings & photos i don't have much to show for the past 10 yrs on paper, i feel ive lived deeply, each moment as if it were my last. i dont know what i would do if i couldn't wander and wander for the rest of my life... now how to put that on a resume... :o

^Which journey would that be?

I woke up with emotional residue left over from yesterday, which has sort of put a damper on my morning thus far. I am hoping it goes away very quickly or I will quit this day before it has even really begun.

I haven't, but I'll add that to books to pick up. Lately I've been reading books on numbers and statistics that show how biases and perceptions make choices for us, whether they be good or bad. They're some interesting reads, if you're interested I'll give you some names and authors. I appreciate these little convos we have because they always seem insightful and fulfilling to me. You're surely and interesting person and am interested in a lot of your points of view on multiple subjects. I hope all is well for you.

please do, ive been real frustrated with books i have started to read recently. all well? nah, but, pip becomes a dull dull boy if he thinks about too much of the unwell. ;) :| i have strange callings calling, from some where; they are good. my days and hours are starting to become so precious, its time to start trying to spend each hour learning, creating, doing, trying sooomething.

the above mentioned book is based on what you have mentioned, comparing the artistic schematic or formula that these artists shared, unintentionally, with much number theory. "told with the heart and premise of Alice Through the Looking Glass."

it convinced me that odd numbers, are more evenly structured then even numbers.
it was the authors first, and maybe only novel, written in a stream of consciousness run on sentences of genius and humor. poorly edited and raw, plus, it won a pulitzer prize; not bad for hip shot of rambling word/number play, philosophical/sociological view of the arts, our perception of reality, and how looping ironies are a constant in our lives, that can be balanced, and used to our benefit if realized and hopped through or into... yeah, its good lol.

i still pick that up, open and read where ever i am.

another one i really like, and bought multiple copies of to give away haha, is Diane Akermans Natural History of the Senses. its broken up into sections, each going into detail about each sense and lots of insightful facts. most of her writing pertains to nature.

EcoPsychology!!! a mumust have by your bed, couch, car, bathroom, desk, backpack....

i also keep a dictionary of ideas, and culture literacy dictionary around to stop arguments. or start them ...
:p

The first I read was Why We Make Mistakes by Joseph Hallihan (an ex writer for the NYT), and the second was Numbers Rule Your World by Kaiser Fung, and of course the book by Stephen Hawking, A Brief History of Time.

why we make mistakes sounds familiar, seriously hehe.

i have seen a natgeo version of a brief history in time several times, but yeah, that will probably be next.

time wars was a good read, discussing the effects of time, on many levels, including jet lag. that was years ago, i just remember a blue cover with white lettering. it is on amazon, aswell as a few other similar titled books, ill look for the authors name later...

dammit, i have court in a good way in a few hours.

go to sleep now! agh.

You have to read it, you will love it :)

I could pretty much cross-post my comment from the TDS photo thread in to here if I knew you guys were discussing theoretical physics books! But in short, my favourite astrophysics author is Michio Kaku, anything from him is accessible and enjoyable <3

For a lighter, fun pop-sci read, check out Atom by Lawrence Krauss, or The Book of Nothing by John Barrow. The former is the story of a proton (IIRC) from the earliest point known in the Standard Model, which winds up in an oxygen atom and eventually finds its way to Earth. Sounds trite, but it's a great telling of the most widely-accepted (at the time) version of cosmology, with a dabbling of astrochemistry and -physics. The latter is a story of the history of the number 0, and its importance in the development of mathematics as a theoretical and numerically-based (rather than geometric for example) field. Both are pretty well written, although you can definitely tell that they've been written by scientists/mathematicians.

I saw this book in the bookstore at the airport the last time I was picking up my boyfriend after flying home, and I wanted to buy it!!!
Next time I go back (in 4 weeks' time) I will actually purchase it :)

mcthe sum of two numbers subtracted from themselves.

like an implosion, or antimatter, a return to the begging from the end.
as mentioned, creating this effect in space will create the effect of crossing mountains in a helicopter; many many miles tranversed in record time. after time-space smooths out again we will be far ahead, or sucked back to the place in time we should be..?

or, will we soon share roach chromosomes instead?
