So who has used Tramadol?

I got noticable effects on even 50mg.
More pleasurable and definite effects at 100mg though .

After taking just 50mg and 100mg , I decided to take a big leap and go with 250mg.
For about 75% of the trip , I felt nauseaus and not to great . Kinda like a dirty alcohol high.

I then puked my guts out and for remainder of the trip i believe I experienced nodding. I also experienced a tranquil , dopey , relaxed high.
So yeah, 25% of the experience was nice ( afffffter I puked though )


I don't understand how people can do 200mg without feeling anything ! It boggles me.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I'm 17 maybe ???????

The drug interactions point is a good one to make, wish I'd remembered that quicker!

As leftwing mentioned as well, tramadol is metabolized by CYP2D6 into O-desmethyl-tramadol, which has a higher affinity for the mu receptor and may well be the part of the drug that causes most of the effects (I have not read up on the SERT/NE effects of tramadol vs. O-desmethyl-tramadol).

jamesmartin: The CYP2D6 enzyme may explain why some people feel nothing off tramadol. Around 10% of the population are poor CYP2D6 metabolizers, meaning they will metabolize little of the drug via that pathway due to a genetic deficiency of the enzyme.

All the more reason we need a mid-strength opioid like hydrocodone here for analgesia purposes.
 
Yeah didn't get much out of it, and I don't take medication or anything else like that, just a multivitamin.
I'm trying to stop smoking anything because I don't like how much it affects my lungs, so weed is out the question.
I'll just wait it out for oxys and hope I'm not disappointed again like I have been with codeine and tramadol
 
Some people love it, some people get nothing from it.

Much like codiene in that its very hit/miss.

Personally it works a treat with me. 100mg is plenty for me to buzz without a tolerance.

Defs does feel like your alot closer to a seizure than normally would be though, really cant explain why just feels that way =\

If its not working for you, upping the dosage probably isnt going to achieve much. If you were going to get nice effects you should be feeling something at that dosage.

400mg is generally accepted as that maximum safe dosage in relevance to seizures. People can and do exceed that on a regular basis but for peice of mind dont bother going past that.

And yeah, if your getting silly with the dosage having a small dose of a benzo laying around/in your stomache would be a good idea.

Feels very seretonegnic to me, but I've never had an opiate experince past that of tramadol. (Enzyeme deficiency prevents codeine from working for me at any dosage).

Good fun if it works for you, if its not working. Dont bother.

I was prescribed Tramadol for shoulder/neck pain, i forgot how many milligrams the pill was but it was a scary experience for me, i can feel my heart pumping really fast and ever since i never touched Tramadol i didn't find it fun at all.
 
I used tramadol everyday for a few months. 150-200mg. Never got any side effects. I liked it.
thought it was a good SNRI, wasn't much good for pain though but did have pain killing properties. maybe equal to around 100mg codeine. I'd take it ever day after breakfest & it had a distinst seretonigenic effect. u could say it even cheers me up a little.
This stuff should be precribed as an antidepressant. It was easy to quit. didn't have side effects & gave me a mood lift. I dunno what all this talk is about tramadol wd being horrible..
hmm although i do take valium every day and did a small wean
 
The good bit is that for me, 50mg tramadol works just as well as a panadeine forte for pain relief. The bad bit is i don't get any fun out of it at all. If i take 2 tablets on an empty stomach i'll feel nauseous, nervous and just 'sick' for about an hour. After an hour I feel much better, as in normal, but dont' get any recreational value out of them.

Dr's make out they are abuseable. Since the abolishment of 100 panadeines for very cheap prices, I've been getting tramadol for pain. Yet Dr acts as if he's prescribing me morphine or something. So some people can 'get off' on them, but either their neurochemistry is diffferent to others or what some people perceive as 'not pleasant' they perceive as 'getting high'
 
yeah i can't really see them being used recreationally, i really can't wait to experience an oxy and find out what all the opiate fuss is about
 
I came across some Tramadol yesterday. 10 x 200mg SR.

Had an insane night last night (pushed the boundaries big time due to some personal stuff) and passed out and don't remember a good 12+ hours of the night.. NOT due to any Tramadol, just needed to clarify.. Lol

Tonight I've taken 400mg Tramadol so far, has had a fair impact. Making me feel relaxed, calmer and in a good mood! I don't think I will take any more than this tonight as I've read seizures are more prominent over 400mg but I do feel like I would like another one..

Not as good as other opiates/oids etc..

In regards to tramadol, I believe drinking with it is also a bad idea as alcohol makes it lower the seizure threshold further.

If one were inclined to want to push the boundaries with trmadol, it would be wise to take a benzodiazepine as they heighten the seizure threshold and therefore slightly reduce the risk of the same dose of tramadol on its own.

It is important to note however that benzodiazepines and opioids are a potentially very fatal combination. Some argue that tramadol is not a true opioid, but it definately has affinity to opioid receptors and as such extreme care should be taken when combining drugs of this nature. While the addition of a benzodiazepine may reduce the likelihood of seizures, it is worth remembering that it also increases the liklihood of other potentially fatal complications like respiratory depression.

Poly drug use is best avoided in general, but if one chooses to do so they should ensure they are experienced with every substance they will be taking on its own. It is also highly advisable that on the first attempt you reduce your usual recreational dose of all drugs being used in conjunction.
 
I went to a walk in gp and got tramadol SR 200mg modified release x20 its the same price as the 5mg preparation under the pbs. so thats 4 times as much tram for the same price...

hehe i ran out of my monthly oxy script 5 days early so this is really helpful to me atm + diazepam :)

Honestly i'd prefer codeine, but it just has too much of a short action and the preparation to do a CWE is monotonous after a while.... i don't know how Blondie does it!

Agree with drug mentor that tramadol does indeed work wonders for codeine potentiation... how much codeine do you dose DM?

Also, and i'm not engorging this in any way, but i've dosed a gram of tram in 12 hours once before with the aid of some benzo's.... don't think i'd even attempt that without a benzo(s) on hand, but i know someone(now a FB friend) on DF and he's taken 1000mg of tram with no adverse affects.... having said that i'd still be very cautious if one wanted to dose over the recommended 400mg in 24 hours.

I was sceptical when i first took tram because i also take mertazapine which is a tetracyclic antidepressant, but it's fine with that kind of AD from my understanding

I usually dose 768mg, who knows how much is left by the time its ready to drink. I have dosed up close to a gram. NOTE: I have abused codeine and various other opiates for quite some time, just because I use this amount does not mean I in any way endorse or reccomend such high doses.

I agree that CWE gets tedious ater a while, for a while I really enjoyed it but now I just get bored. Me and my codeine partner always alternate who has to make them so then every second time I don't have to bother. :)

First time I did 100mg then 50mg and tonight I just did 100mg on an empty stomach.
For a weight ~80kg should I be aiming to do a higher dose or is this as good as it gets?

Also if I was to take a higher dose, would it also be wise to have valium with it as I have read Tramadol can cause seizures which I'm quite concerned about :\

400mg is the seizure threshold, but i've gone to over 1g in a day with no seizures many times....i'm not advocating taking this amount, i'm just saying i've done it.

if you've been taking opiates recently, then you will have a tolerance to the opiate effects of them...

i find that higher doses can be quite e like in some ways...clenched jaw and rushes.

i also find that i don't sleep when i've been taken them, well not much sleep, but still feel really refreshed the next day.

i'd say go for around 200-250mg dose and have a light snack before or just after..this helps the trams get absorbed and will improve them overall.

That is really interesting how I"m the opposite of relaxed with tramadol as well as others in this thread, and yet you have the opposite reaction.

I wonder if that's sort of like how ADHD drugs make people with ADHD calmer, yet is a stimulant for people who don't have ADHD>. I'd sure like to know the reasons for the different experiences.

Could you both give the dosage of tramadol you take before the codeine, and the time before codeine administration. Drug mentor said an hour before. is that the same with you?

Also i found this interesting upon reading it and have found it to work well

Taking the doses (tramadol) at increments of half an hour will increase the opioid effects one gets from dosing, because the body metabolises more of the Tramadol into odesmethyltramadol (The 200xpotency good stuff!) the more Tramadol there is in the blood stream.

So basically, dosing 200mg at once will mean that the body will have to metabolise it all at once, whereas spacing out the doses in to say 3 or 4 at half hour increments will allow a
concentration of Tramadol to build in ones system and therefore more of the powerful metabolite will be created

Bioavailability = 68 - 72% (this increases with repeated dosing due to increasing amounts of o-desmethyltramadol)

Also here's a good example of a dosing strategy for this to be most effective;

T+0:00 - Dose 100mg

T+0:30 - Dose 50mg

T+1:00 - Dose 50mg (+ Whatever benzos one is wishing to combine)

T+1:30 - Dose 50mg

obviously one could follow these time increments and depending on tolerance and experience you could increase the dose or for a opiate naive person you could reduce.
