Ketamine is prescribed in the UK, I didn't know this until recently but I found a UK pharmacy that stocks it if you have a prescription. However I'm not sure exactly what it's prescribed for, whether it's insomnia, depression, pain relief, or something else entirely.
I can't find any information about it being used to treat insomnia though so this sounds a little odd.
As for general info about it, Ketamine is euphoric but only mildly so in my experience, the real fun comes from the trippyness and the insights you gain at higher doses. When taking it nasally I find that 25-75mg equates to a light, happy, inebriated feeling, over 75 and under 200mg tends to be intense but controllable, and over 250mg (or a bit higher if you have a tolerance) usually leads to a "K hole", a state where you are disconnected from reality and are free to experience "other worlds" and out of body experiences.
With oral you need 2-3x as much as nasal for the same effects however the experience also lasts 2-3 times as long. There is often some nausea with oral (this happens with nasal too but with oral it seems to be more severe) so I'd advise not eating for a few hours before dosing.
Hope this helps
