LSD- Sitting for a friend: Tips?

So I have two close friends who are planning on taking acid sometime next week. Now, I've been on a couple different kinds of drugs: shrooms, salvia, molly etc. So I have some basis of understanding. I just want to make sure they don't go into a bad trip. Any tips on how to keep them in "good place"or how to help them if they start going into a bad trip??
Anything would be sosososososo helpful!=D

Make sure you're in a good set and setting. Make sure there's nothing that could send them into a panic (i.e. tripping near a police station or in a sketchy area).

If one of them starts to panic or go into a bad trip, just keep reminding them that everything's okay and they're just on LSD. Try not to sound forceful or condescending, but also try to make sure they're getting the picture. Also, make sure there's no chance of a trip disaster (i.e. parents coming home.)

Make sure there are no "dark" stimulus. Play only relaxing and soothing music, and if one of them starts freaking out about a DOOM poster or something on the wall, remove it.

Make sure one of them doesn't start getting paranoid and try to call a family member or someone who they shouldn't be talking to while tripping.

If one of them starts talking nonsense and looking like they're tripping really hard, don't say anything like "Dude what the fuck are you talking about" or "You're not making any sense," just go with it.

Make sure water and music are readily available.

Also, just make sure they don't do anything stupid. If it's their first times, don't let them "go on a walk" alone or something. If they're planning to obtain more acid than they're going to take, make sure they don't take the rest of their shit while they're tripping. I have friends who have done that.

Again, if it's their first times, try to make sure their doses are on track. 1 or 2 hits each, and no more. However, if they are experienced with acid, it shouldn't be a problem for them to take 3+.

Know that sometimes people on LSD get "weirded out" by sober people (or, more specifically, people not on LSD). So don't take it personally if one of your friends starts acting weird around you.

That's about all I can think of for right now. If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me or hit me up on AIM at T3amAm3rica1.

Good luck and happy tripping!

Thanks so much! I didn't want to get myself involved without having some kind of advice on what to do. I'm sure things will go well.

Fractals gave some very good advice. The only thing I want to add is to make sure the come of is in a comfortable place. The set and setting of the come up is very important because this is usually the most uncomfortable part of the trip. Have a safe place to be able to relax and spread out!

Also, if one of them communicates to you that they "think" they are having a bad trip the best thing to do is to change locations. Distract them with something positive.

Agreed, and if anything, the peak as well as the come-up should be in a comfortable place as well, as that's where bad trips usually occur. (During the peak, not in the comfortable place...lol.)

Good points. Another thing you may want to consider is clearly telling people when you're gonna do something - turn off the lights, go to the bathroom, change the music, whatever - 'cause people do sometimes get startled on acid. They won't think you're a weirdo if you announce you're going to take a piss.

Something that has often centered me and my friends when things get too intense on psychedelics is being told what time it is.

Usually when I introduce new people to acid, I would make them turn off their phone and forget about it for the whole trip. There are always certain people you would rather not talk to while tripping.

This also has the added benefit of making it easier to forget what time is :)

I like to sometimes be on my own when I trip...

Be sure to enjoy yourself on the side. I felt guilty of tripping once when one of my friends wasn't, cause I thought he was bored of watching over me...

put your phone In airplane mode (it won't be connected to your cell network, no calls/texts)

Never underestimate the power of the change in scenery to dramatically change the course of a trip. If your trippers start to feel bored and blah inside a house ask if they want to go outside (So long as it's SAFE to do so: no nosy neighbours that'll call the cops if someone is on drugs, not near busy roads, etc). It's amazing how it's like literally stepping through door to another world.

And turn off all communication devices, hide all clocks, etc. For yourself: Redbull :)

No matter what happens, give the outward appearance that it's totally fine and expected and makes perfect sense. When tripping people notice that sober people are getting weirded out by something, they can get REALLY weirded out. If you don't let anything ruffle your feathers, and you stay outwardly relaxed and cool the whole way through (even if shit is going completely bananas and you're a panicky lunatic on the inside), you'll be doing your tripping friends a favor. Just be firm about making sure they don't hurt themselves, if it comes to that. It almost certainly won't.

If someone thinks they're heading for a bad trip or starts to get paranoid, just distract them with something and they should snap out of it. For example: ask them to roll a joint or pack a bowl, or just hold up a lighter and tell them to check out the awesome flame. It shouldn't be too difficult to get their minds on a different track.

The most common mistake I see with new trippers that can lead someone into a bad or unpleasant experience are expectations. Tell them to remove all expectations before they dose, going in with unreasonable expectations of what they'll experience may cause them to become disappointed. I know one girl who thought that the trees were going to come to life and talk to her like in Lord of the Rings, and that it was going to make life seem like the Legend of Zelda; I don't know what the hell gave her the impression that a trip would be anything like that, but she was severely disappointed. 8)

Just make sure you have lots of music that will inspire thought, the Beatles' Revolver through Let It Be albums are all good for this, as are many other psychedelic artists. And interesting things to capture their attention if things start to go sour. Also, nature is spectacular, so try to get them outside if at all possible. :D
