My 12 yr old and drug suggestions?

I don't know how big of a difference it would make, but you might want to try switching her from Risperdal to Invega. It's a similar chemical with similar primary effects, but less severe side effects. I don't think that Risperdal alone is the root of her acting out, but it can certainly contribute to negative emotions. When I was on Risperdal I experienced extremely painful agitation and anxiety. If she's already frusturated (due to medications, neurological problems, or her environment) the side effects of Risperdal are probably adding to her problems.

Obviously I'm not suggesting that you should obtain this medication on your own and make the change without consulting her doctor, but I do think it would be a positive change for her, and I recommend that you bring it up with her doctor if you want to alleviate some of the psychological pressure on her.

Thank you. I definitely need some support. I knew I was taking on a lot but never imagined everything that came with it. Including her acting out and behavior which has turned to hell. I know she's gone through a lot so I try to let *some* of it to slide but when the swearing and hitting starts I'm at a loss. :\

She's clearly had a hard time through the early part of her life, but that doesnt need to be the defining factor in her life, people can and do get through these things, hopefully you can work towards creating a strong, secure, independent adult. If you can envision that as her future, then maybe you can view this wild behaviour as a step along the way.

Good luck.
