TDS has a thread on this in the archive. I felt I should perpetuate it's awesomeness and remain free from alcohol and illicit drugs today (Monday 1/7/10) and the following Thursday. It was 07 the last time this thread received a comment and, hierarchy allowing, it'd be nice to revive. Some of those suffering through recovery or whatnot will have a chance to feel united with people who are or have been in their shoes. Happy Drug Free Days all... %)

This thread is a very interesting concept I have never before seen. I like this idea lot.

What the hell is the point? If it's a novel act for you to not use on a weekday then you're an addict. If you don't have a problem with that then why would you not want to use on said weekday. If you have a problem with being an addict then grow a pair and give up completely.

Some people might want to just take a break from drugs and alcohol, even if it is for one day. That doesn't necessarily make them an addict. This type of thread can help someone who wants to get clean from drugs and alcohol make a commitment, which is a great start on the path to recovery. Next time, I wouldn't be so judgmental, as you might want to reconsider what you are posting as there are people in recovery on this forum and statements such as "...grow a pair and give up completely" is more than likely not the best advice that can be given.

I think whats so awesome about this idea is that its so doable. even the most deadly alcoholics can go 1 day a week without drinking. I think? WD take a bit longer than that to set in don't they?

I sincerely wish everyone (struggling with alcohol abuse) hugs n kisses!!

I have now learned that there is such a thing as over-logical!! Get it? ;)

I'd hate to be your girlfriend lol. Just cuz I don't feel the sensitivity man. Taking a day off can just be a nice break and can make people feel better about themselves. I think your over complicating matters.

That's like telling a clinically depressed person to just snap out of it and cheer up, I mean it sounds like your intentions are good but maybe your understanding or compassion is lacking a bit. Besides, weekends/weekdays mean nothing to those of us who work freelance or in the night club/restaurant business.

Besides the benzos I'm prescribed I could fairly comfortably not do any drugs for a day or two here and there, but beyond that I'd have to really want to quit all drugs and I don't yet have that desire.

I really like this idea as well. If someone makes it ONE day then it gives them hope they can do it others. I only took my Rx'd meds yesterday and no illicits so I'm very proud! Wish I could say the same for Monday :\

Forget Monday and Thursday!!

How about Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday friday Saturday and Sunday!!

Drug free forever!!!

Hey guys, it really is that simple: one day at a time, than make it a week, get some sense of accomplishment and keep it going then start to fill your every day life with some activities not related to drug use, keep it going, feel the difference, get rid of the monkey and be happy. Simple in theory, I do realize that, but why not put it into practice? =) Wish you all the best!

As has been said, make it one day, and pat yourself on the back because that means you can make it another day. :)
