What kind of non-actives are in pills?

Hi all, so I've been wondering:

A test kit will show me what kinds of active ingredients are in my pills, but how do I find out what else is in there? I know there are things called binders and fillers, but does anyone know what these are actually made of?

I tried the search function but with no luck. Thanks for any light you can shed...

Are you talking about Ecstasy pills?

If so, it's usually Glutamine, Sugar, Creatine, etc.

I guess I'm mainly interested in ecstasy pills, although I guess maybe the same kinds of stuff are used in others too. Thanks for your help WorldWarMe.

I'm not to familiar with ecstacy pill binders but inactives in general are far to numerous to name.
Here's a short list of some inactives used in pharmies I just threw together for your perusing.

NSFW:
-anhydrous citric acid
-corn starch
-crospovidone
-lactose monohydrate
-magnesium stearate
-mannitol
-povidone
-sodium citrate
-povidone K30
-ammonio methacrylate copolymer
-hypromellose
-polyethylene glycol
-sodium hydroxide
-sorbic acid
-stearyl alcohol
-talc
-titanium dioxide
-triacetin
-hydroxypropyl cellulose
-gelatin
-red iron dioxide
-anhydrous lactose
-hydrogenated vegetable oil
-silicon dioxide
-pregelatinized starch
-cetostearyl alcohol
-hydroxyethyl cellulose
-hypromellose
-dibasic calcium phosphate
-sucrose
-sorbitol
-microcrystalline cellulose

As I said far to numerous to get into as that's probably not even a quarter of what's used.
But that's a list of some inactives in commonly used pharmies that I could throw together for you in a hurry. (IE. Oxycontin, MS-Contin, Subutex, Etc.)

They're basically inactive binders, things that don't effect your body.

As WorldWarMe stated they are inactive binders & in the context of his post he is right that they don't effect your body as he would be referring to oral use.

However these binders do cause problems with other ROA's besides oral.

With nasal or IV use binders can cause major problems particularly with IV use.
Talc can accumulate in the lungs for example.
There's plenty more information about the effects of inactives on the body in other threads but I don't believe your looking for that info.
I'm basing that assumption off the fact your looking mostly for Ecstacy info which is generally used orally.
If in fact you are looking for info about binders effects on other ROA's mention it & I'm sure I can find you some links.
Or you can UTSE as there's a good amount of info pertaining to that subject in other threads.

Hope that helps. :)

You're right IndustrialStrength, I was thinking orally. That's quite a list, thanks! And thanks for the reminder that just because you can eat it safely doesn't mean it should go up your nose or in your veins.
