I don't smoke, but I found this article to be a fun read, and they quote everyone's favorite man-about-town Anthony Bourdain, too! The article's too long for me to copypasta it, but check out the link.

EVEN preschool teachers unwind with a round of drinks now and then. But in professional kitchens, where the hours are long, the pace intense and the goal is to deliver pleasure, the need to blow off steam has long involved substances that are mind-altering and, often enough, illegal...

Nothing much to say other than that was a fun article to read, thanks.

Very cool article. :D I've gotten some quality weed from people in the restaurant industry, heh.

yeah i dont know what it is, but restaurant employees always seem to have the best drugs. ive seriously heard of people getting jobs in restaurants when they move to a new area just to get drug connections.

Nice read.

I think cannabis has a major influence over many industries, not just food. The game industry and the movie industry are pretty saturated with pot heads as well.

Of course there are other drugs involved too as the article points out, but I don't think as many people these days are afraid of the "pot head" stigma as they use to be.

Also, there have been some very impressive canna-meds coming out taking the shape of cola, lemonade, cheese cake, breathe strips (no joke), pizza, ect. Pretty much anything you can think of, someone is probably designing it.

it was nice to see a respectable presentation of marijuana use, but as far as the "story" goes, i found myself very much in agreement with slate:

"Nowhere does the Times piece convincingly connect marijuana use to anything new that's happening in kitchens or to any food innovations."
