☛ Official ☚ The Big & Dandy Scale / Balance Thread - Part 2.000±

Even though this doesnt talk about Psychedelic drugs, PD has a great thread for scales, so im going to move this to PD in hopes that they'll merge it.

PD, if you do not want this, feel free to send back to us in DC.

So I am looking for a cheap digital scale that can measure milligrams. I have found many at a range of prices that have a resolution to .001 or .002, so meaning that weighing 100 mg should only be a milligram or 2 off. That's correct, right? Also the reason of my post is that I have seen scales that say they have this accuracy in my price range from 30 bucks to under 200. Obviously a myweigh 250 which costs 160 bucks or so will be better than precision scale 10 that only cost 30 bucks, but can the cheaper scale really give precise accurate readings?

cheap scales are more likely to give off readings. But that doesnt mean they always do.
Calibrating, re-calibrating, and weighing your dose several times to make sure its accurate is they best thing to do with cheap scales.

I have a scale that was ~90-100 and it has treated me well for years now.

The DIA-20 I think is really a good scale for the price. I have seen several people's, and I'd trust the reading within maybe +/-3mg on all of them when the tare function is not used and the chemical is placed in something which the weight of is subtracted from the total reading to get the actual weight of the chemical.

My cheap Gemini-20 ripoff edition broke only after maybe 2.5 months of use. It's wildly inaccurate now, totally unusable. While it worked it was accurate within 2 - 3mg, but very hard to use because weight kept fluctuating. I'd recommend it only if you are a cheap ass like me. On ebay they are less than $20 shipped. Now I need to find a better scale that weighs more accurately. Can't trust that cheap ebay shit anymore.

I'm looking at the DIA-20. 2 - 3mg of accuracy is good, but durability is what I'm looking for. I want my scale to at least last a year.

Would a cheap 0.001g scale do for weighting out say 100mg for mixing with liquid?

You probably wont be able to get a 0.001g accurate scale easily on the UK highstreet. Maplins sell a couple accurate to 0.1g, but they're quite expensive IMO.

My review; from ebay UK, although bought from an American seller - for $50.

"Professional Mini Scale Model No: SCL-D20" by "High Weight"
Accurate to 0.002g

I bought based on the price and a review I read which claimed several other makes for a similar price sucked.

The calibration weight, 20g, is NEVER accurately weighed by the scale, it always reads between 0.05 and 0.1g out. I haven't had chance to test this weight with another scale however, so I don't know if this is the scale or the weight.

I've weighed an RC powder with it; I was meant to receive 14mg and my scale read 16mg. The amount I received however was slightly uncertain due to dodgy scales on my suppliers behalf. The consistency made me feel more comfortable about dosing.

After dosing 3.5g each me and two friends found the effects to be similar to how we expected, which is confidence boosting.

After weighing several UK 2p coins I find that the scale is between 0.002 and 0.015g out of what's expected. There is a lot of variation in penny weight however, due to dirt and chippings, and most were close to the expected figure.

Overall, I am confident to dose with this scale, although I don't trust it entirely. It'd be better to use it for liquid dosing or dosing 0.01g increments as opposed to 0.002g increments.

Thanks for the review.

So, those "0.001g 20g Digital Milligram Gram Scale balance weight" from the Chinese eBay sellers, are definitely going to be pretty rubbish I guess?

My boyfriend and I use two scales when dosing out RCs and such. The brands are Accura (max 10g) and AWS (max 20g). I don't know any other details from merely looking at them. Whatever weight any given object comes out to on one of them (the max 10g scale), it will come out to .002g more on the other one.

I have a DIA-10, works great, i usually weigh it with 120mg capsules, and i always weigh the capsule first, i feel I get a much better reading that way...

Does anyone have any experience with AMPUT APTP449 (0,001g x 30g) ?

Im going to answer my own question in case someone else is looking for the same information.
aptp449 is surprisingly accurate... when the scale is calibrated and sufficiently warmed up the weight deviation is +/- 0.001g on samples <1g.

I just got my Gempro 250, and it seems to work great. To my great relief, it doesn't do that annoying thing where, if you add a powder slowly, it will not register, but then if you remove the powder, it will read, for example, -0.010g. I've had experience with a couple of other mg scales that did this, such as the JSVG20.
