Hello all fellow BLers,

I've just been reading that anti-psychotic, benzos and alcohol help with GBL withdrawal symptoms but does anybody know if Sertraline (Zoloft) will help with the withdrawals??

I've been using about 15mL - 25mL daily of GBL for the past 4 weeks and I've got to go back to work tomorrow after being on holidays and I do not want to be in a mess at work, so I was thinking that possibly the Zoloft will help with the withdrawals... It's the only thing I have laying around the house apart from some Lexapro which really will not help I don't think.

Any help would be much appreciated....

Thank you in advance!

No. no it won't... benzos will ease it, as will alcohol. G withdrawal is an absolute nightmare, good luck working through it.. especially the kind you get from GBL

If you have access to it, you could always try tapering with a gradually reduced dose, you'd avoid the w/d symptoms and still be functional at work.

No I have just had my last 3mL this morning.... Been feeling the effects a little bit today but I'm guessing it will be much worse tomorrow... Not looking forward to it, especially since I'm in Marketing and need to concentrate a lot.

Would Xanax help at all or would that be a waste as well?

Never mind I answered that one myself... It's a benzo so a big tick on that one!

Yeah just have light doses dependant on your tolerance to said substance...

same goes for that stuff, don't use it for prolonged periods.. i might suggest a few mg during the day, spaced out, then maybe 2 before bed to assist with sleep.

Just taking a stab in the dark here but would you suggest use for about 3 days with 1mg in the morning, 1mg in the afternoon then another 2mg at night to sleep???

Oh shit man, sorry to see you in this situation :( Give me a call if you need help or someone to chat to hey? Mr Ibis is spot on; ween yourself off it slowly, don't go completely cold turkey.

Would low doses of codeine or any of the antihistamines like doxylamine/promethazine/diphenhydramine etc help? For sleep if nothing else?

If one had an extremely weak tolerance to the 1st gen antihistamines they might provide some somnolence, however - g withdrawal is extremely harsh, so i doubt they'd provide any relief.

Might i suggest daytime dosing of phenibut in the lower ranges to counter-act your bodies need for some GABA release.

G withdrawal seems to encompass alot of benzo/opiate withdrawal effects, those including convulsions, sweating, nervousness, nausea, vomiting, difficulting eating or holding down meals, and extreme insomnia. I'm yet to hear of any fatalities as such, but i'd avoid driving vehicles whilst experiencing these effects.

If you plan to take juice again, please leave some space (a week or two) in between dosing sessions to avoid this ocurring again. I've always had a rule, ever since i first experienced these horrid effects - no more than 2 days consecutive use of said substance.

How was work smiggle? I hope it was bearable.

Let this be a lesson to many, GBL is not a drug to binge on for an extended period of time.

Thanks to everybody for they're concerns :D work was bareable... I don't know where I would of been with out the Xanax, thank goodness for them or I would of been in one horrible anxious mess. Luckily for me I only had to drive my car to the train station then public transport it the rest of the way to work....

Now I have learnt my lesson to not abuse that drug, yet again another drug has been ticked off the list to never take to its advantage.

People be warned; the near none hangover from GBL does not mean to repeat it over and over again because the comedown from the addiction is something very closely similar to that of any other harder drugs!
