I've searched resin all of the forums and have already learned that a more accurate term for it is pipe tar, but still can't find what I'm looking for...

I'm curious as to if smoking spice "resin" is as unhealthy as smoking cannabis "resin". I notice that after smoking spice "resin" my heart rate increases, and the buzz isn't nearly as good as a green hit (obviously).

Anyone else have any similar experiences or knowledge on this topic?
Also can someone possible go into depth about pipe tar and how bad it is for the lungs and other organs? What exactly is pipe tar?

Thanks.

Aren't spice blends just inactive plant matter with synthetic cannabinoids sprayed on? I assume that you only get high for the amount of unburned chemical that's stuck in the spice tar, rather than all of the plant material like from cannabis?

dude i couldnt say wether or not it was more harmful but my personal opinion is that yeah it will be just as bad and i cant really see the point, each to there own i guess tho
peace

This.

If that were the case, then how could I be just as high from spice tar as cannabis itself? Hmmm. Maybe I'm just sensitive.

The tar itself doesn't taste nearly as bad as cannabis "resin", probably because of all the herbs/plants in it, I suppose.

There's not a difference in my mind between plant material artificially infused with psychoactive alkaloids and plant material containing them at harvest.

The medium is being combusted anyways, and the alkaloids vaporized, resulting in a "tar" composed of both partially combusted plant matter as well as solid alkaloids.

I may be missing something though.

JWH-xxx is not an alkaloid; although it contains a nitrogen atom, that nitrogen is not basic (ie, "alkaline", why they're called "alkaloid"), because it's in an aromatic ring, and it does not form a salt. And the CP-xx,xxx's don't even contain a nitrogen atom.

Smoking pipe tar in general is bad practice. From weed or blends, it's got alot of stuff you don't want in you (PCA's, tars, resins, random pyrolysis products). Especially since the synthetics are so cheap, why would you bother recoverign the resin? On the other hand, if you're smoking JWH's, you're probably not concerned about inhaling carcinogens. It's probably somewhat worse than that from weed, since the pyrolysis products of JWH's are probably less healthy as those from weed, but so is the desired active ingredient.

i dont think this is absolutely true, i assumed the same thing and thought my friend was a dumbass for smoking spice resin until i scraped the several grams that had accumulated in my pipe when i was trying to get clean for the national guard. im by all means a pot head (smoking between 2.5g's to 1/8 of topnotch midgrade a day) and i got super high off spice resin. i smoked it out of a bong as i always do with resin and 2 monster hits had me just as high as .5gs of some of the stronger spices

Right, I used the wrong term. Interesting though, thanks for that information.

But that doesn't discredit the reasoning therein.

Pretty much all of the synthetic cannabinoids would vaporize off. Whats left is the 'Spice' or what have you, novel highs. The resin should be discarded.

Cannabis is plant matter containing active cannabinoids that were there naturally
Blends are plant matter containing active cannabinoids that were put there artificially.

The contents of the pipe tar are the same in both cases - chemicals in the smoke which have condensed on their way through the pipe plus bits of charred plant matter that fell through the screen.

You get more of the highest vaporizing components - which unfortunately includes lots of stuff like PCAs and heavy tars, that you get less of in the final smoke when smoking the plant material because they condense on their way through the smoking device.

Nobody's saying it's not as effective - i'll wager it's even more effective, since the JWH's vaporize a little higher than THC, so condense more readily.
