AS OF WEDNESDAY THE 21st APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MAY 8th

I am sad to announce that in the recent weeks, djsim has stepped down and now leftwing must do the same for personal reasons. I am sure I can speak for all the OD Mods when I say it has been an absolute pleasure working with both of these guys and they will be missed. OD would not be what it is today without these two guys.

djsim and leftwing, thank you for everything!

Now, for the time being, we are only looking for one new Moderator, but that could change in the next few days and we may decide to bring on two. We will post an update in this thread when and if that decision is made.

If you are interested in applying for the position, send PM to myself, BollWeevil, Captain.Heroin, and leftwing, who will be sticking around to help with the selection process. In your PM, tell us all the reasons why you think we should select you. Remember that being a Mod does not mean you need to be an expert on the subject matter discussed in the forum. Our job is more about maintaining a friendly and professional atmosphere and keeping the forum in working order by closing threads, moving threads to the appropriate forum, warning/infracting users when necessary, and working with the rest of the OD Mods and BL Staff to come up with ways to better the forum.

General knowledge in the area is important in order to help answer questions, but knowledge is not the deciding factor when we select a new Mod, so in your PM, tell us why you think you would be a good Mod and what you would be able to bring to the table if selected.

We'll update you with a deadline for applications, I guess we're still tentative on it.

I just wanted to emphasize the importance of not posting your applications in this thread - but rather PMing them to us. :)

i want to thank all you posters for sticking around here. without you guys this place wouldn't be what it is.

it was a hard decision to step down but the right one. in short i'm working on my addiction at the moment and taking a break from bluelight in the mean time is part of that strategy. i'll still check in from time to time, i'm not leaving forever.

The mark of a great moderator is that the forum was noticeably better as a result of their selection... this applies to both leftwing and djsim. You both will absolutely be missed around here but your contributions will certainly continue to benefit people and help people stay safe.

I'm going to get some codeine in celebration of the great mods of this board, all of you!

It's been a year since I have been on Bluelight, and coming back it's cool to see who the mods are now and that this still a great place to receive harm reduction advice. :)

Number three is pretty good, plus LW is my older brother from another mother, of course he is going to be cooler then me 'cause I got everything I know from him!

And djsim is definitely cooler then me because I've lost count of the times he has helped me out with science journals and medical advice and even professional advice personally. I wish I'd gotten to meet him on one of my trips to Sydney. :)

At least I have an excuse for not having visited DJsim; I live in the worst part of the US.

PS I would love to meet all current OD mods and past OD mod-Crew members one day! %)

One day my girlfriend and I plan to visit the US, when we do there are a few BL'ers I want to meet. :)

Also I will join the BL crew when we get out own super secret forum. :p
 
Who says you don't, Mr B? You might, you might not. Life's a gamble. You just won't know unless you're crew ;)

On topic, I'll join in the mass reacharound for Lefty cos he's been a stellar mod of more than one forum and a great loss from the team. But also great to know how strong the BL addiction is so won't be a stranger. And good luck to whoever is next up for the stick. It could be you!!! If you apply and pass the initiation test anyway... did we not mention the initiation test? Oops.
 
The initiation test is my favorite part of picking a new Mod. We're gonna have to think of something extra humiliating this time around.
 
Will be hard to top the last one. I believe BW still has a twitch, a slight limp and a mortal fear of radishes to this day. I'm not sure Lefty ever fully recovered from his and it may be the reason for him leaving. And as for CH... we'd best not remind him. But don't let it put you off from applying, folks =D
 
Well, sad to see them leave, but thank you all for the time and help you put into BL, Its appreciated by not just me, but Im sure many many many people on bluelight, cheers, and goodluck
 
Just so you all know: there is no solid deadline at the moment, but generally, we like to get this done as fast as possible, so usually it's no more than a week or two that we keep this open. Our opinion usually is that the people who really want it will be on top of getting their app in as soon as they see this, so two weeks at the most is more than enough.

So, we'll say May 8th to get your app in AT THE LATEST. That could change, and we'll keep you posted with advance warning if that happens.
