MI, Detroit - 05.29-31.10 - DEMF 2010 - Detroit Electronic Music Festival

there's some good names, but the ones that are drawing me in are DJ Hype and DJ Godfather. never had the chance to see Hype spin, and been a big fan since the mid 90's

I guess I am the suck.. cause I don't recognize anyone on that flier except my girl punisher... who is from Chi... so she comes here often anyway. Not much to make me make the trip.

Oh and Derrick Carter.. but i've already seen him since I am not the suck

Well, this is a good opportunity to learn.

Get a group to go, and you can get by with just $3-400 for the whole weekend. If that! I've gone with $150 before and been more than fine (you just gotta be willing to drive a bit farther to and from the hotel).

DEMF/Movement is just as much an education of sorts as it is a go-out-and-see-who-you-know-you-like. Each year, I go away with a new name to obsess over.

It's definitely worth it.

Plus, there's the whole social aspect of it, which I think gets as close as it can to being 'scene' without being KaNDeeKiD cartoon. Even tho' there are some crazy outfits sometimes.

Definitely worth it if you got a crew and the extra scrilla.

Just confirmed TWO after parties for this year!

Party Til Dawn will be hosting an 18 + "rooftop" party on Sunday night just blocks from the plaza located directly on the riverside, as well as a 21+ closing party on Monday night @ Oslo!
We're excepting digital demos from DJs that are interested in playing either event.

Demos & inquires should be mailed to [email protected]

More info soon!

what kinda genres you still looking for?

I was thinking about it, but there are some MAJOR holes in that lineup. Paco Osuna's really the only one on there I'm dying to see. I'd be interested to see what Rob Hood has to offer in terms of a live set too.

Oh, and (apparently) the reason they are now charging is to prevent it from being overrun by homeless people, as it has been in previous years.

This is the 11th year of DEMF's existence, they have been charging for the past 5 years, it's seriously nothing new.

I really enjoy this lineup. A lot of exciting talent on that list. Hoping for a couple more names to be icing on the cake.

I just got my ticket at the Loco Dice party, $30 for a weekend pass.

See you fuckers in May

Will definitely be going to this. Excited to see pretty lights, a-trak, claude vonstroke.. hopefully some better acts pop up on the list.. like some dubstep.

considering the cultural wave,i cant see there being no dubstep there.
its just too hot right now as is electro house..which is funny since theye at two different points of the spectrum..

I'm so stoked for this, I've been wanting to go for years and this year it is finally happening :)

Richie Hawtin as Plastikman could be the only act there and it would still be worth it. Looking forward to Chris Liebing and Ida Engberg too.

Keep in mind that while DEMF is an electronic music festival, it's a mostly celebration of Techno so the presence of other genres will be pretty minimal

Have you guys checked out any of the after parties?

Deteks in particular looks sick!!

bwahahahaha

tryin to make it happen this year.

Martyn is on the line-up... but it is surprising that there's not a bigger representation of Dubstep acts.

It happens every year, last year people were bitching because there wasnt enough DnB on the line up, the year before that it was trance, the year before that it was jungle.

I certainly wasn't complaining... considering how big Dubstep is at the moment, I found it surprising that there's only a couple related acts on the line-up (Kyle Hall, Martyn). I think there were only two last year also... Benga, Bassnectar??

Clearly DEMF is not a Dubstep festival... however, it's not purely a Techno Fest either. A quick scan of the line-up reveals many artists with absolutely no connection to that genre. e.g. Hudson Mohawk, Guilty Simpson etc. It was my impression that the festival intended to represent a broad sample of contemporary strains of electronic music.

thanks
