Is it just me, or does Tramadol suck?

So I have a pretty high tolerance to codeine as I've been using it on and off for the past few months, and have gotten to the point where I need 250mg+ at least to feel anything. I got some Tramadol from the doctor on Friday, and tried 100mg that night. Didn't feel anything after an hour, so I popped another 150mg. I felt a slight looseness, and that's about it. Tonight I wanted to feel something awesome, so I popped 350mg. It's 3 hours later and I'm feeling nothing.

Is my tolerance mega high from the codeine or does Tramadol just suck? Maybe I'm expecting it to be too much like codeine with the euphoria. I'm gonna take some before work tomorrow to help me get through the day, any recommendation on dosage?
 
How often have you been using the codeine? I have started using it myself only once a week, but am still a bit worried about tollerance/addiction
 
I started with Co-codomol (30/500 codeine/APAP) when I had food poisoning - this was the first prescription painkiller I'd taken and I was like woaaahhh this is awesome. When my tolerance got too high I had a look through the medicine cabinet and found like 3 packs of old Codeine without the APAP, so I could just take as much as I needed. did this about 2/3 times every 1 or 2 weeks until they ran out, then I lost interest because I'm too lazy to do CWE's. I'd say it went from 60mg for a nod to 150mg in the space of about 3 days. Then after another week it took about 200mg. Then it went up to 250-300 and sort of peaked there. I had diarrhoea for about 2 days (but I have IBS anyway - so not sure if this was from withdrawals) after stopping, then didn't touch the stuff for about a month and a half and didn't feel any cravings. I did a CWE last week because I was bored and work sucks so I need something to help get me through the day lol, I think either it failed or my tolerance is still high, as I didn't feel anything. I love codeine but it's a hassle if you have to CWE large amounts when your tolerance goes up. I think I have a not-so addictive personality, as I have read of people getting hooked straight away. If it helps, I'm 21, 80kg. I know there's many other factors but there you go. Be careful. I've yet to find anything that compares to codeine.
 
Okay, I'm actually starting to feel something. Only very mild, just a bit ... intoxicated. No eurphoria or anything. This is like 3 and a half hours after dosing. Is this normal? To get the desired effect, would you say it's safe to take sayyy... 600mg tomorrow?

Seizures have been reported in humans receiving excessive single oral doses (700 mg)

I know in higher doses it can cause seizures.. so I'd tread carefully this drug which i find to have little if any recreational value.

You based in the UK?

I was vomiting with diarrhoea when I got back from university. To this day I don't know if it was Codeine withdrawal or not, although I did use a surprising amount of my 28 60's over the period of 2 weeks (about 16 of them) so it wouldn't surprise me if I truly did withdraw. It sucked but thankfully it was over quickly.
 
I found that Tramadol actually really sucked - I took 5x100mg SR Tramadol tablets and found that I just got really panicky and my legs started involuntarily twitching or seizing - I got scarede and went to sleep! Whereas, when I managed to obtain 30/500 Codeine tablets I loved it, I used to so enjoy them days - but I was fed up of doing CWE's if I had 8/500s

Although, I did have waves of Euphoria on the above Tramadol experience - but nowhere near as consistent as Codeine or as intense as Poppy Tea (as to be expected from Morphine)
 
Nah, I'm from the UK. I have access to OTC Dihydrocodeine - as far as I know it's 6.*mg Dihydrocodeine and 500mg Paracetamol - It's ok. Same as codeine really, but stronger. I had some prescription 10/500 Dihydrocodeine's - well I think they were. Yeah, Co-dydramol.

Actually, it may be 5.* of DHC, I can't remember. I just hate doing CWE's and I regret saying it, but if I want to occasionally do 300mg of Codeine, I could just neck 10 (300/5000) and the toxicity from the Paracetamol may not be too toxic
 
As has been repeated, over and over, tramadol sucks for some people with them getting no effects from it. For the "Blessed" tramadol is akin to the nectar of the gods, with great effects. I am of the blessed.

From the UK. I've seen Dihydrocodeine when out buying the boots brand paracetomol and codeine phosphate. Is DHC stronger than regular codeine? And really? 5000mg of APAP? I'm not that brave I'm afraid. Though CWE's are a ballache.

Man, why do you hate doing CWE's

I just use a food blender - chuck in the pills, add 200mls cold water, churn it all up and filter.

Only takes 2 mins.

@Naggers - It's argued that it's 1.5X stronger. I've found that it is indeed stronger, but harder to obtain.

To be honest, I've taken larger doses of APAP - which isn't something to be proud of. Likewise, it's not a statement of being brave, it's rather just idiocy on my part, to be honest. I know people who've taken 8g at once or more - it's not thought to be fatal for most people at that dose. Although, it certainly is toxic and can damage your liver - and thus f*ck you up in future life - so I must emphasise, it can be fatally toxic for some people - especially drinkers etc. - at that level, and you should never do it.

So I'd advise ALWAYS do a CWE and make sure it's a safe one and sure it contains trace of APAP. To be honest, I used to hate CWE's when I done them with 8/500 and got to the point where I used to check my eyes for signs of Jaundice in the morning because I was getting that paranoid. I don't think it's worth it to be honest.

@Cornishman - I used to do more elaborate CWE's reducing the tempature in the freezer etc., to ensure that the codeine is absorbed into the water and the APAP isn't. The solubility of APAP was firmly taken into account :P
 
Well the problem I find with CWE's is thus:

When you get to the point where you need 300mg of codeine for a decent nod, we're talking around 40 pills (including a couple extra to account for loss during the process). This is a LOT of crap in there and extremely hard to filter. Last time I tried this there was water sat ontop of the sludge in the filter for ages and it looked like it was blocking it. This was with around 25 pills. Sure you could to 2 or 3 CWE's at a time, but this is where it becomes a hassle.

Also, there was a video posted recently of a CWE of 5000mg APAP, and in the end product there was still 1500mg of APAP. So if we're CWE'ing 40 pills, that's potentially 6000mg of APAP leftover if this guy's method was correct.
 
@Naggers - Was it properly lab-tested for contents of APAP - in that case, I'd advise avoiding OTC Codeine if possible. Because 6g is potentially (if not certainly) toxic to the liver - and can lead to many complications - including, but not limited to eventual death!
 
Tramadol does not suck, it just has a huge variance in how people metabolize the drug. If you're like me, Tramadol is 100x better than codeine. Tramadol can get me a euphoric high in the midst of a gram+ per day heroin addiction, as I've said before. If you process the tramadol efficiently you're golden.
 
@di.ACE.tyl.rob - That's what we were basically saying - or at least I was, heh. I wasn't making an objective opinion, just a subjective account of how Tramadol sucks (in my opinion - which is reserved for me ;) )
 
Its not just you...it sucks....but at high dosages you can feel alright and like a piece of spaghetti sometimes...hahah. Take painkillers instead or in combination...much better. 3 x 50 mg tramadol plus 2 - 5/5 mg hydrocodone or 5 mg oxycodone.....bc since your talking about tramdol period i assume you are not extremely opiate tollerant.....like someone around here : - / cough
