^^ Nawww thanks man!! <3
I am pretty proud of him, even when he's being a cunt to me hahaha. We raised him from when he was only a few days old so he really is our baby.

This is the only photo I have of him when he was a bub!
babybuzz.jpg

He's first generation out of the wild, which I guess is why his markings are so typical of the native lorikeets (i.e. not tainted by human breeding selection etc).

When I was still a vet nurse, one Saturday morning some kids brought him in to the clinic in a cardboard box, saying they'd found him fallen out of the tree. The mother bird was nowhere to be seen. So I offered to raise him, with the intention of releasing him back in to the wild. For all I knew he could've died the next day, cos he was so young and fragile without his mum. But I did the best I could and he turned out great! By the time he was big enough to fly, it was very apparent that he was never ever going back in to the wild. He was well and truly integrated in to human family life :)

As you can see from the photo, when we first brought him home, we didn't even know what type of bird he was!! So it was really fun watching him every day to see what coloured feathers were appearing and what type of bird he was developing in to. It was like a lucky dip! =D

Oh and nope, we haven't taught him any tricks :(
He doesn't seem to be very receptive to our "teaching" methods. He can't even talk, which is frustrating because we have tried (and continue to try) to teach him words.

oh and n3o..
~Buzz~ =D
best kid ever!

the one i/we really really want is a dumpy tree frog.

YES!!! Aren't they adorable?! Whoever thought a frog could be so damn cute?!

Once at my parents farm when I was a kid, I went outside to hang some washing out on the line and lo and behold, there was a green tree frog dangling and swinging around the clothes line =D

Wayyyyy too cute <3

For those who don't know, they're these little guys:

Lol eK, yeah Buzz is a good kid <3

I've tried to teach my galah to speak, with the help of a learning CD and just talking to her, it just doesn't work :(
She briefly started saying 'hello,' but she forgot that as quickly as she learnt it. But she does do kissy noises which is kinda cool lol.

damn panic, i had NO clue you were that young.
from what you told me of your diagnosises i was expecting you to be at least in your 30s :(

this hugs for you brother

Yeah same here man. Buzz makes alllll kinds of noise imitations, but just doesn't say anything. Although he kinda says his name sometimes, but he gets lazy and just makes the general sound instead of actually saying the word :D

He's rather adept at imitating sounds though. He flawlessly does the cat's meows, telephone, smoke alarm, microwave buttons pressing, kissing sounds, door creaking open and shut.

Note: that last one is VERY DISTURBING at 3am in a pitch black house, when you get up to go to the bathroom, and you hear the impeccible sound of a door creaking open. WTF?!
But no, it's just the bird 8o =D

That is really cool. All mine does is the kiss noise and some kind of UFO sound lol. But I love her anyway =D

sega, im 31. 8-78. people usually guess im 24 though
the diagnosis are too much, none of this was going on a year or so ago man i would of never believed you, or knew wtf you where talking about, and now im anemic... and im seeing a GI, and an anesthesiologist in a week...
much love

holy shit dude, that was one of those "awwwww how cute" moments hehe. he does look adorable there indeed. he's definitely your baby then! i'm sure it'll grow into an adorable fella:)

i've found none of the ones i've brought up from a young age are big talkers either but they'll pick up noises (like door creeks;)) and imitate a lot of things and are actually really good at picking up little tricks to teach. they're great whistlers as well - almost too good and too loud haha.

i've had one that would fetch my rolling papers (lol) and wrestle as well. you could get it on it's back and wrestle around with it and when it had enough it would say "i give up, i give up" it was so damn cute and adorable you couldn't help but laugh at him and then he'd start laughing as well and then start to sound psychotic because he was hyperactive lol. another female (who's wing I had to amputate myself because of a mower incident:|) would roll on her back and you could drop a little stick in her feet and she would lift it up and down like she was doing a set of weights=D she actually fell in love with one of the budgies we had=D

they were all obsessed with licking our hairs and the sweat from them as well. like we'd come home from school and they would preen us until we had to make them stop otherwise they'd keep going n going. it felt really nice but kinda weird at the same time.

hahaha nice one brother, looks like a cool little lad. what tricks can he do;)

is he going to grow into a full sized fella like the wild ones or is it a different type? either way nice score man, i've always had an interest in lizards as well, especially the frillnecks! though i don't see too many of them around where we live anymore, just a lot of skinks.

noodles after the offspring lad i'm gathering as well;)
