Cannabis and Bodybuilding

I vape and exercise all the time. Getting stoned makes me lose motivation for many things, but not throwing some reps. When I actually inhaled the smoke, it had a noticeable detrimental effect on the gains I received... but now that I always vape, my gains are awesome!
 
And tadpole, if you have to smoke to deal with the soreness... :\ toughen up a little bit man. :)

haha i dont HAVE to use it, i just want to. Same with opiates. It just happens to be somewhat beneficial in that aspect.

I avoid stimulants, due to anorectic properties. I tend not to eat and lose a ton of weight on them. Caffiene is ok, with the right amount, my hunger actually increases massively. With too much, i just feel shitty

as for carcinogens, yea that sucks if you smoke. I vaporize, and grow my own shit with no pesticide.

News flash, THC is an insecticide. It was created by the plant to POISON living things, your not an exception, but get high enough and you will start to believe you are.

Marijuana is not harmless. Nothing is. Eat too much food, you got diabetes. As for THC being an insecticide, that is partially true. To say that it is POISON, however, is a very vague and over generalized statement. Plants produce caffiene and nicotine as insect deterrents also. Caffiene is very safe. Nicotine, not so much, but a lot is what the companies put into the cig besides the leaf. Cannibinoids in the plant are going to affect a small insect much differently than a adult human. The DOSE makes the poison. The human body is an amazingly resilient machine, and we have cannibinoid receptors. The manner in which you say this quote would suggest that humans and insects have a similiar/same physiology, which is completely false.
 
^^ lol i think if i were stoned at the gym with a bunch of my freinds we would probably just be cracking jokes an the captain america lookin homo with blue and pink spandex. We would never be able to get anything serious done at all. I live in Hi bradda, theres just too much to laugh at here when ur stoned.
 
tl/dr all the posts, but I find that cannabis and bodybuilding;ding are like peas and carrots. The rule is tho, YOU WAIT UNTIL YOUR FINISHED TRAINING TO BLAZE. Then you eat like your a college kid at the ocb. Thats my theory.

Stoners (and drug users in general) are so hypocritical. When the government will agree with their opinion, they point to the governments agreeing like its the definitive answer. But the second the governments opinion doesnt match theirs, they laugh at the government as if suddenly now they can see them for the goons they are.

Face it, the only truly healthy thing for the human body is what nature intended; breathing fresh unpolluted air, drinking clean water, grazing in a field and foraging through the forest for fresh fruits, and ripping a gazelles carcass to fucking shreds. Anything to the contrary is going to fuck shit up, but who gives a shit? Just dont try to justify it by saying its harmless, thats delusions de grandeur. Accept it, your harming yourself, now say "But I dont care", thats the only answer.

it's a personal choice I know of a lot who do it I don't smoke weed anymore myself anymore,another thing to think about is that it is estrogenic.I take other things sometimes when I go out as I am not a big drinker.If you enjoy a smoke and it doesn't interfere with your workout more power to you.
 
I used to smoke quite a bit daily, now I enjoy smoking maybe once or twice a day - I have had very bad heroin/oxy problems for over 6 years. Frankly put: lifting,training has saved my life from it - and honestly AAS make my life style that much better, so I don't give a damn about the stigma. Smoking green doesn't seem to hit me to bad lung wise and I box - I don't smoke blunts anymore I normally use a vape or gravity bong.

For those who find weed to kill your motivation, I feel for you, I am totally the opposite. Always have much more energy and I get what I need done no prob. I'm very picky about what strands I get, so that might be it .. . sativa and all.
 
i quit smokin weed jan 1 2010 for a new years resolution because it kills my motivation to do anything and im glad i did and it wasnt hard at all.. ill probably smoke sometime in the future though.
 
i dont think its good to smoke right after a workout. smoke inhalation isnt good for oxygen levels in your body. you need oxygen to grow. id say smoke a few hours after your workout. if you have a vape its if different story. i smoke daily and workout all the time. i find that sometimes im lazy if i smoke before a workout, but ill still make it there and get a good workout

bodybuilding is not an ego sport anymore so than any other sport. Cannabis responds differently to everyone, I'm not going to defend it's use - but to say bb'ing is an ego sport I'd like to know why you would say that ? Please do expand on your statement bro. thx.
 
It all depends on the person, personally i love getting super chopped and working out, for some strange unknown reason it gives me motivation, and i can keep going a lot easier, i'm more focused on my breathing were as while sober i'm sloppy and become short of breath very easily... depends who you are though i guess
 
The only reason I lift is b/c I have Narcolepsy, thus I am extremely tired all day. But when I take the 40 min.s to lift in the mornings I have much more energy for the rest of the day. Besides, I get a somewhat euphoric feeling when lifting hard. Sure, probably a larger portion of BBuilders do it for ego rather than other main stream sports, but I think it's much less than it's made out to be. I love to lift, and i've killed my ego several times over already.

I dont smoke anymore, but when I used to it gave me extreme concentration levels in the gym. That was only if I could calm my mind down and force myself to focus though. It took practice, but once I was able to focus on nothing but my workout, the MJ had a very positive effect on my breathing, concentration, and mind-muscle connection. I try to find ways of doing that now that Im sober, but it is very difficult at times. It seems that I am a lot more irratable over little shit and I lost my concentration these days. I let stress get the better of me. If I work out at home in my excersize room, I will be constantly distracted by unrelated things, such as having to mow the lawn, get my clothes ready for work, etc. If I dont have absolutely every single thing done ahead of time before my workout, I wiill have a shity workout. I dont know what it is but it gets to me.
 
Yes but a hit or two of weed is A LOT less smoke then a full cigarrete. I don't feel out of breath or anything when I workout. Also, weed has no association with lung cancer (this is even admitted by the govt.) AND weed doesn't have radioactive shit put it in like cigs do. The radioactive content mixed with the tar from cigs makes it way worse for your lungs.

And you don't have to smoke pot either, you can vape or eat it. So it is harmless pot...

I'd assume a drug which kills cancer to be harmless...

That is, unless, cancer is what's boosting your gains. ;)

Not to mention living in a city is essentially breathing in smoke anyways compared to living in a rural area.

I think being stoned helps with working out for me personally. It probably varies individual to individual. Then again I did a lot of working out on heroin, and buprenorphine is also great for working out IMO. The analgesic potential of buprenorphine is pretty limited so you are still pretty aware of what you're doing, physically speaking.
 
I cannot smoke and then work out, even if I smoke and then workout several hours later then I still find it hard, even if I am amped up on some pre workout drink. This is mainly because I cannot lift as heavy as I'd like to when high and it frustrates me.

Smoking a few hours after a workout is even better. The best is too orally consume cannabis. Like I did today!

Anyways I am going to be taking a break from Marijuana pretty soon here. Right now its helping me not drink/drink so much so the benefit is outweight the negative.

I'm taking an AI right now, I wonder if Cannabis is reducing its effectiveness.

I guess the real question is if its estrogenic or not, most of the studies I have seen say it does not effect your hormonal levels.
