Police and FDA raid local herbal stores

I had no idea that an animal could be a controlled substance.

Why is anyone here shocked that one of the biggest domestic suppliers of DMT and mescaline was just raided?

But it wasnt a supplier of dmt or mescaline. I couldnt, nor could anyone else, go on BBB and order 'DMT' or 'Mescaline'. Sure, you could buy plants that CONTAINED those things, but certain flowers and seeds and such contain all sorts of chemicals that are scheduled, and are sold at stores and supermarkets everywhere.

Right. And you think that because the FDA and DEA ignored it for a few decades, that they can't suddenly change their tune and start regulating things differently?

Whether it's sold openly or not, shit like mimosa hostilis and San Pedro can be prosecuted as a Schedule I substance, using the entire weight of the plant to determine the amount of DMT or mescaline you possessed. Selective prosecution allows for this type of shit.

This is pretty sad =( I hope he gets out of it some how, they'll probably find a way to steal all his money though =\

I had no idea that an animal could be a controlled substance.

I find this hilarious.

Also, this confuses me. It doesn't seem as if there were any grounds for the search and seizure in the first place, regardless of what was found...

If whatever is in K2 is not illegal, and although it would be illegal to sell said substance as a drug, said substance was not being sold as such and I see no way to legally demonstrate that kind of intent in this situation.

Uh. Maybe if they sent an undercover in and the employee at the shop made ANY reference to its cannabinoid action or to ingesting the substance?

Just like all the bong stores raided because an employee was dumb enough to let a customer say the "b-word" in the store while an undercover was in there at the same time.

*Sigh* It makes sense to me perfectly why it was legally allowed to happen, I suppose, I'm just disgusted that the system allows for this sort of waste of resources.

Hopefully the guy will get off easy, but I can't say that I see that happening.

Makes me wonder why BBB didn't hoard away funds in an overseas bank right from the start. They had to have known this would happens sometime.

This is why ethnobotanicals companies need to sell NOTHING but live plants and seeds, none of these prepared smoking blend bullshit!

The outcome of this case could have very serious consequences not just for Mr. Sloan, but for the psychedelic community as a whole. If the state wins this case... I don't know. I can't even imagine what will happen.

Suprised with all of those charges they didn't charge him for amanitas or salvia8)

Very sad. I've had a few orders. Always the best service

I had just ordered my first item a week before (hbwr). Upon successful arrival in the mail I had hoped to keep this relationship going, but I guess it was not meant to be so. Though they have confiscated everything used as evidence to convict Mr. Sloan of his charges, items still remain (e.g. amanitas and salvia) which were of interest to me. Would it be dumb to try to order now. While it looks like the website is still being maintained, I read that the employees are not allowed into the store.

I also read all of Mr. Sloan's assets were taken. If nothing else I would be willing to donate money for a law processings. Any ideas?

The government has seized all the guy's assets. They already determined all his property is guilty. So he can't even post bail or hire an attorney. How is he going to defend himself? He is now broke and in jail all without a trial. He's the victim. This government is criminal or it even could be this government is criminally insane.

This is indeed very very sad. I really hope Bouncing bear will be able to raise enough money by continueing to sell their non contested products to help the owner out, or that he does have some sort of back up plan.
The list of charges is a little ambiguous, only a few of the mentioned substances are actually illegal, such as DMT. Hopefully Sloan will be able to argue his way out of many of the charges

Let's see some grocery stores raided for selling poppies. C'mon, get the real motherfuckers.

I am no longer shocked that law enforcement allows businesses to continue to operate for an extending period of time before making a bust. It is clearly in their best interest. Law enforcement does not care about preventing drugs from getting on the streets, they want to make money. Forfeiture laws have turned asset seizure into a money making opportunity for the police. They allow businesses such as BBB to continue selling products for as long as possible, so that there is the maximum amount of money available for the feds to seize. In this manner the federal government is the actual provider of the products because they eventually seize all the profits of their sales and allowed the sales to continue long after they were aware of them. The police have become professional thieves. They don't believe their bullshit about drugs being dangerous, this is all about money.

Well said. Its too bad that the average citizen has so much faith in our legal system. People need to see what is really going on.
