Does anyone use abilify for depression? does it work well?
My girlfriend said:I've been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder with psychotic episodes, OCD, chronic severe depression, generalized anxiety disorder, etc.
Depakote, Zoloft, and Klonopin were helping but I was still experiencing violent mood swings, sometimes hour to hour.
With the addition of 10mg of Abilify daily, my moods stabilized dramatically and I have been fairly stable ever since.
I don't know if it cures depression, but as that was something I was really struggling with, the Abilify seemed to help a great deal.
In fact I'm about to discontinue the Depakote having tapered from 1000mg down to 125mg over the course of a year, decreasing in increments of 125mg every 2 months.
So it might be worth a shot, good luck.

Akathisia, headache, unusual tiredness or weakness, nausea, vomiting, an uncomfortable feeling in the stomach, constipation, light-headedness, insomnia, sleepiness, shaking, and blurred vision.
Uncontrollable twitching or jerking movements, tremors, seizure, and weight gain. Some people may feel dizzy, especially when getting up from a lying or sitting position, or may experience a fast heart rate.
Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (Combination of fever, muscle stiffness, faster breathing, sweating, reduced consciousness, and sudden change in blood pressure and heart rate.)

Stroke (While taking aripiprazole some elderly patients with dementia have suffered from stroke or 'mini' stroke.)
Other elderly patients may experience high blood sugar or the onset or worsening of diabetes.
Allergic reaction (such as swelling in the mouth or throat, itching, rash), increased production of saliva, speech disorder, nervousness, agitation, fainting, reports of abnormal liver test values, inflammation of the pancreas, muscle pain, weakness, stiffness, or cramps.
Sudden death.
I know right, I would just deal with going batshit for the first month taking this.
I hate when you get that RLS feeling on this.
I just had to move but I was sedated to the point of not wanting to, and it pissed me off soooo bad.
I even get a RLS from taking benadryl, which is supposed to help this.
Bye bye Abilify.
^^ i take my abilify in the morning, because it is slightly stimulating IME... and i have an oldschool neuroleptic (cyamemazine, not sure if its available in the US but it works pretty well, just a bit groggy in the morning) which i take at night... along with valium, xanax and meprobamate....
as for the side-effects, i havn't experienced any bad ones YET...
