after i use hallucinogens i can feel the movement of energy up my spine and around my forehead and various parts of my body. this awareness of energy lasts for weeks sometimes months after cessation of psychedelics. sometimes it can be annoying when i am trying to concentrate at work. sometimes the energy builds up too much resulting in agitation.

my question is, is there anything i can take (other than benzos) to reduce or elimate this unwanted awareness besides stop using hallucinogens entirely? thanks in advance.

The only time that I felt "electric shocks" running up and down my spine is when using one of the psychedelic amphetamines DOI/DOB. Very strange, unpleasant feeling. Damn amphetamine side of the drug is like "SIT THE FUCK HERE AND PAY ATTENTION TO THIS CRAZY SHITTTTT!!!" Wowza.

What hallucinogen particularly are you refering to? You'll have to be more specific about this "energy." Is it painful? Are you restless? Is your skin clammy? Does it feel like it's pulsing with your heart?

Y'uh need just a lil' more information.

Well you need to get a bit more specific here but from how your description sounds it seems like your getting "brain zaps"(not sure if that the exact phrase). I don't think benzos or other drugs would eliminate it but it could possibly help relieve it a bit(opiates might work better although i'm not sure what cause "brain zaps" medically so I can't say for sure).

It sure does sound like kundalini, which is important to deal with carefully! You don't want to release it too much while at the same time trying to ignore it and not address it, but you also don't want to toy with it.
I have long been convinced that many spiritual crises caused by use of psychedelics stems from releasing these kinds of energy without knowing what you are doing, causing the flow to develop uncontrolled and unnaturally... tread carefully. Most seem to agree that by learning how to handle this energy changes it from feeling uncomfortable to feeling absolutely great, god knows I haven't tried enough to handle it but I know that addressing it correctly can really heal you!

it happens with a variety of hallucinogens including 2cc, 2ci, 5meodalt, 4-ho-dipt. Its not painful but sometimes it does cause restlessness, agitation and insomnia requiring valium or xanax. Its not always noticable. My heartbeat doesn't seem to be affected. The energy tends to collect in the forehead and face sometimes causing headaches. Sometimes the energy can be enjoyable and result in mild euphoria. I've noticed in stressful situations it often causes tremors and visable shaking.

I have to agree with Solipsis on this, and I have to stress the caution necessary here again. I have had one physically painful experience that also led to nasty imbalances. I've learned that it has to be carefully directed, and to do this you have to learn the nature of it, as with anything else. Meditate on this sans psychedelics. Get a feel for it.

I usually feel this on psychs once im in bed and resting after a trip. As my body relaxes the energy seems to spread away from me and fill the entire room. If I open my eyes, though, it suddenly snaps back to my body. I dont like the energy being cooped up inside me, when it spreads away from me it starts to feel good.

I wouldnt look into drugs to deal with the issue, try meditation, exercise, eating a healthy meal, or milk. Milk always has a soothing effect on me, though it may just be me.

that's just you. Kundalini is just the real you. Always exist that way. Eventually ultimate truth unfolds.

I would try sequentially energizing your chakras sequentially, excluding crown at first. Visualize it, and look up on your chakra locations for guidance.

I'd try meditation...:) Especially when feeling this energy.

I've felt this more than once. Once coming down from a San Pedro brew, once from ayahuasca, once on shrooms and a whole slew of times sober. Most recently was in December sober. Catches one completely off gaurd. I still barely figured out how deal with it effectively. For some people, it's a part of life. Like me, I was an idiot and ask to be more developed and look at the thanks u get haha.

It could be that You tapped In. Maybe it's your turn to begin maturing.

I gotta agree with the above posters: I have experienced all sorts of strange sensations on my mental travels which seemed to simillar to accounts of Kundalini energies. You should not try an escape these sensations or they might bug you until you pay them proper attention. Do a little bit of stretching and testing your muscles and posture until you find the point where you can co-exist with this energy. Hell, it might not work but it's worth trying. I found once, when I had enjoyed 6mg of DOM, that I was very restless when I hit my bed. Eventually I found a position in which the nervous energy seemed to channel into almost a feedback loop around my body, at which point, stopped worrying about it and was able to concentrate on the incredibly weird but thrilling mental trip I was experiencing.
I usually get very profound tremors when using DPT at higher doses. At first they were distictly sinister (Was about to have a fit?). Once I stretched and tested my muscles against it, it became an enjoyable feature, related perhaps in some strange way to the buzzier aspects of an orgasm. Few compounds exhibit this kind of buzzy tremor as profoundly as DPT, but many others have a bit of that kind of thing going on.
When tripping and faced with something unusual of intimidating like a sensation such as you describe, you can't just flick a switch and make it go away. My policy is usually to be open to whatever is going on, to accomodate it or work with it. Usually gets a decent result. I suspect that many 'bad trips' are caused by not facing up to whatever is occurring and clutching for the abort button rather than (Cliché warning) 'Going with the Flow'
Peace Y'all - Happy tripping - Pipp
