Quitting weed

I find it highly annoying and bitch a lot about it. I'm just bored if I'm not sitting around being stoned and eating the whole kitchen.
Hopefully I'll get to start up again soon.

I think people who are saying it's easy need to realize that the OP probably has never had any experience with hard drug addiction.
Once you quit a truly addictive drug, quitting weed is a piece of cake in comparison, but if all you know is the sweet taste of mary jane: first off you are very fortunate, and secondly it can be just as hard, mentally, to give it up as opiates or amphetamines.

It's really all in the mind, and how you view sobriety. It's really hard to teach someone how to have fun sober when they are so used to having fun stoned. But a person determined to quit weed needs to find non-drug related things to do to have fun, and people to hang out with who don't need smoke all the time. But the trick is to be determined to want to quit. Having a good external reason really helps.

^ True.
Quitting weed after MONTHS of use, daily. Annoying.
Quitting meth after a few weeks of occasional use. The most unexplainable and painful feeling...

OP- It'll be ok. I didn't like quitting either. My bf said he has seen people quit but no one bitch as much as I do. The stuff seems to help me, but I can't right now. Try to focus your attention somewhere else. Don't focus on not being able to do what you want. I found that it can be a little difficult mentally, I don't think that is abnormal because like someone said, you have to quit something you don't want to...it is distressing. It causes you anxiety. Maybe that is what is going on. Did you eat a lot or differently when you were stoned? That could account for feeling kinda sick. Or it could be psychosomatic. Which means you think it is happening so it is happening. It's all in your head to say, but that doesn't make it any less real for you.
Try to take this time to take care of yourself. Regulate you eating patterns and find something to do with the time you would spend smoking and being stoned.

Just find hobbies and stuff to occupy your time so you don't get bored and smoke.

Taking a job where you know that you'll be tested can help too.

When friends offer to smoke you up I know it sucks but say no thanks and don't smoke.

If anxietys bad don't quit cold turkey .

Stop to smoking spaced out twice a week .

Then only once a week

Then once every 2 weeks

Then stop

Just fight through it. Quitting anything isn't fun. Just stay focused, keep yourself preoccupied, and make sure you sweat that THC out of your body and get yourself back to normal. You will feel amazing once you've been sober for atleast a month. Good luck ;)

In addition to other advice, weed works its way into your daily routine. So when your sitting there doing what you do on a daily basis you start to think 'fuck, normally I'd be smoking..' then times slows down, etc.. If you have any change in routine coming up (change of job, w/e) then it will be so much easier to do if you stop then. But you probably don't..

Try and find 'something' to do. Anything. Sports/video games/learn something your really interested in. Just shit that takes time and you won't find completely dull.

I have had troubles quitting weed.
It usually affects me for around a month.
I get flu-like symptoms, with headaches, nausea, and general body pain. These symptoms last from 3-15 days.
I have weird dreams, about weed. Always about weed. These go on for longer, maybe a month.
I have low motivation for a month or so.
After about a month, I feel regular again.

However, the most recent times I have quit, I have woken up early and exercised and meditated. This helped me greatly. The overall symptoms stopped sooner, and after a month I felt FUCKING GOOD from all the exercise and meditation.

I also highly recommend eating healthy food. Try for at least 5 veggies a day, plus as many fruits as possible. Since chocolate brings euphoria, I recommend eating some chocolate during the first 2 weeks, if you can. Drink a beer before sleep to help with the insomnia, but watch out for addiction to that - since you, like me, have an addictive personality. Alternatively (and maybe better), take some 5-HTP before bed, which converts to melatonin in the brain, and will help with serotonin levels.

Above all, be strong! You will emerge stronger than before.

Thanks for all the good replies everyone.... i've quit weed many times and am aware of its mild withdrawal compared to other drugs. Maybe people who keep responding with those kinda of replies need to step back and realize quitting weed can be difficult as it's psychologically addictive as well.

It compliments things you enjoy normally like watching anything on tv ...now sober tv sucks...just these mental annoyances produce ill physical feelings as you have to change your life style.

In a sense weed can be very hard to quit as its very mild and going back to it doesn't have the huge repercussions say going back on smack does.

Cigs have VERY mild WD but they are severely hard to quit...makes sense now if you think of it like that ;)

See he gets it

I'm still off it anyway :)

You may be alittle familiar with the term 'pot head'. Well that applies to me so i am unable to curb my use =P I'll have to just quit. Also my stomach hurts worse when i go into withdrawal. So its not like i smoke and feel worse th next day. Its there regardless.

naaaa, u can curb it, if not, than i guess ur not a pot head!!!

I'm so glad I don't have an addictive personality. Anyway goodluck on quitting.

how old are u... ? its uncommon to not have an addictive personality...

and no1 can really know if they do have one until they experience life, maybe when ur 21 u can decide that (u could be) lol

I have no self control with my weed. As soon as I get home from school I start smoking until I go to bed. I need to get a job so I'll start smoking less...

I'm having trouble with quitting. I used to smoke a small amount 3 times a day. I found that it helped me better than my medication (stress, sleep, depression and mania and others) and helped my other drugs work better.
I feel like I'm craving it and want to give in.
Other than distraction and concentrating on why you are quitting what other things can help?
