What I have noticed from lorazepam is that it will take away my anxiety and panic better than alprazolam (xanax), also if you look on wikipedia or this Canada benzodiazepine equivalency chart http://meds.queensu.ca/~clpsych/orientation/Benzodiazepine comparison chart.pdf

- This chart also states a lot more about lorazepam being able to do more than Alprazolam can. I've also taken Alprazolam in 4mg or greater, and haven't noticed much at all. :\ I have a huge benzo tolerance though, but i'm supposed to be tapering with clonazepam. I just use the faster acting benzo's for certain occasions.

What I don't understand is, why does lorazepam get called such a bad name? Its stronger than Diazepam. 1mg lorazepam = 10mg Diazepam. Lorazepam also bas 2mg pills which are the ones I have and I think the 2mg Lorazepam pills are excellent for acute anxiety. :)

Anyone know?

^ Also in my province in Canada the highest Xanax dosage you can get from the pharmacy is 0.5mg. So that means that you have to take 8 of them to equal 4mg.

Loraz is one of those meds that more than a few people do not tolerate well at all, and can even cause rebound anxiety. Them not tolerating it usually means it makes them literally trip...like a dirty ass trip. However, loraz is the most commonly used IV benzo in the ER/ICU I believe. I used to eat gobbles of the 2mg's back in the day right around the time before my first OD visit to the ER/ICU. I thought I got an "ok" buzz off it from like 20mg, but when I came out of my coma and my blood preassure sky rocketed, the nurse shot my IV up with 2mg of the liquid loraz, and oh was that sublime.

I like loraz. Especially these tiny little 1mg Purepac brand micro-dot sized pills they have in the us. Couple a' those do me like a xanniebar.

Lorazepam is great in my opinion. I'd rank it behind diaz. (my personal favorite) and clon. Most of the people I know prefer alprazolam, but I think that's just because they're so available.

Something else curious - here a local detox clinic *always* gives patients lorazepam to "withdraw" them from benzos - no matter which benzo you happen to have a problem with. Furthermore, they force patients off the loraz within 4 days, and you are discharged on the 5th. These people should be brought up on criminal charges, but what can one do.

Naturally, after a four day taper from god-knows-how-much benzos you're using, you go into serious fits when you arrive home. Boy. Weren't they helpful!

Dexter - I've never heard of anyone having a hallucinatory effect from benzos. I'm not saying it's never happened, but do you have any more information on this subject? Seems like an incredibly interesting adverse effect. When I think of someone not tolerating a benzo I think of them getting angry, breaking things, etc, not seeing aliens. Perhaps I'm just misunderstanding what you mean.

I think lorazepam is great. It works VERY well for my panic attacks and helps calm me down so that I can fall asleep at night. As someone with anxiety disorder I find it to be a very useful medication. However, I never use it recreationally. The only benzos I'll use for something other than a panic attack are xanax (for intense calming effect), valium (because it's SO mild and not overly sedating), and clonazepam (to take with weed for increased enjoyment).

Man I love Lorazepam. For a long time I was scripted #60 2MG Lorazepam tablets per month. If I recall correctly, I usually got the Ranbaxy brand from Walgreen's (Walgreen's is a shite pharmacy, price wise) - the imprint was RX 774. Great tablets. I loved them. UNfortunately I'm no longer scripted them. The doc was a quack; I also got #60 of the Alprazolam XR 2MG's per month. It was nice while it lasted.

bottom line is, I like Ativan|Lorazepam a lot.

The reason why I made this post is because Ativan seems like such an underrated benzo, and I notice quite a few users in the "Best Benzodiazepine Thread" trashing Ativan, when I really do not know why.

Maybe its because I'm from a province in Canada where benzo's are VERY VERY hard to find on the street, and nobody ever has xanax here, except when I ask my doctor for a Xanax script, but in a way, xanax doesn't do much - like for me I find it a very subtle benzo, although it does take away panic attacks. I have also NEVER seen a Xanax 2mg Bar in Canada at all. :( Most pharmacies only stock the 0.25mg, and 0.5mg generic versions of Xanax (except if you live in BC, or Ontario).

I'm not quite sure what people are talking about when they say Xanax has such a strong punch. Maybe its our generic here? Because the highest they come in is 0.5mg here, and I'll take 8 of those and thats a 4mg dosage of Alprazolam, even an hour later, I barely feel much at all... (very subtle)

The only benzo I "bash" is clonazepam. Personally for me, lorazepam is the least desirable benzo I still enjoy.

Lorazepam has slightly 'stimulating' edge to it. I find if I need to stay awake and would like to remain feeling comfortable but not sedated, lorazepam is the way to go, especially when it comes to sitting through multiple hours of a college class.

However, for euphoria, lorazepam is lacking.

Xanax is by far my favorite benzo (probably 5th of 8 or 9 choices for me, being in the middle), but I understand why people like it.

Lorazepam is the greatest bezno for me. It works great when it comes to:
-social anxiety
-insomia
-muscule relaxtion
-imagination
-creativity
-the power to do things, not only thinking about doing them
-talking to people
-making strange videos
-having fun, everywhere, even at school.

I also like diazepam, because it causes the slow flow of the thoughs, relaxes me a lot and the world looks like from Naked Lunch (the movie).

I feel like I never did alprazolam in the right amount and right setting. I wasn't really fun for me. It only made hangovers disappear or made me blackout (althrough I didn't make stupid things on it).

Clonazepam is a freaky bastard, which I don't enjoy the most. I always feel like I'm sober, but after all it turns out (like on the next day), that I wasn't sober at all. It only had great taste in the pills I took.

Now I have estazolam and I have never had anything that made me this sleepy. I don't feel any even mild benzo feelings from it, but after 3 coffees, nearly 3mg of piracetam I took 1 pill sublingually and after 30min I was sleepng. Maybe I'll have to take less or let the toleration kick in.

I was given Lorazapam in the ER when I was having gall bladder problems (I was moving around a lot because of the pain and nausea so they gave it to me to sedate me and reduce the anxiety). It actual reduces nausea as well-they prescribed me a bottle when I was going home and it definitely helped my stomach as well as help me withdraw from the dilaudid they had been IVing me for the last week. For my situation it was perfect.

I felt great on them, also helped me sleep. Now over a year later, sometimes I feel like if I had a script of them my desire for opiates would diminish (like they did after I was in the hospital). What do you guys think?

I've eaten my fair share of lorazepam and all the other benzos. Xanax is definitely my favorite. What I like about xanax is it doesn't fog you out. It seems like the only benzo that doesn't turn me into a retard.

It's a good idea.

I like benzos when tapering/coming off of opiates.

You can PM me, and any other admins/smods/mods, but not other Bluelighters until you reach Bluelight status, which comes in at post count 50.

Once you get there, it'll take a while for the server to reset, but eventually it will switch you over to Bluelighter status when you're at 50+ posts.

Welcome to Bluelight! If you go back you might be able to retrieve what you typed. You can email people, instant message them, or save the PM's for when you want to send them (when you become a BLer).

50 posts won't take but a week of casual posting, some would be able to do it in a 24 hour period.

I like Lorazepam. Alprazolam is definitely my first choice, but when it comes to intermediate to longer-acting Benzos, I find Lorazepam to be subtle yet effective for combatting anxiety.

Every few months the "I hate lorazepam" or "Does anyone like lorazepam because I don't" thread comes along and its always the same. Lots of people don't find it very 'recreational' or 'fun' while others like it. Personally I like it a lot and it is in my top 5 favorites. It's a great anxiolytic without much sedation or memory loss like alprazolam.

As with benzodiazepines and most prescription drugs there are going to be handfuls of people who like the drug while others don't. Next time use the search engine. You will find benzo polls and this debate a thousand times over...

Well put vonchampz! I liked lorazepam for this very reason, using it to relax myself to study for a 6 hour class is very, very effective. I think lorazepam is a better benzo for the day time to be honest.
