Guitar pickups and amplifiers for industrial music?

I already bought the Duncan Blackouts, and from what I have heard they outperform the EMGs active pickups....

There is a problem though....I dont know if my guitar is set up for active pickups. I thought that if it had space for a humbucker then it would definitely fit. I didnt know that you have to have a special anything to install an active pickup. Did I just fuck up?

I am not seeing any good used amps on craigslist. Guitar Center has some great prices though on new stuff, sometimes cheaper than what people sell their used stuff for.

you can always return. you can always mod your guitar to make them fit. Don't be afraid to take a drill or a chisel to it.

Amp, cool, whatever, you better go to the store and demo though, what if the Kustom has a shitty distortion not suitable for industrialz, then all the pickups in the world ain't gonna help you.

My favorite distortion box for industrial is the Metal Zone pedal. It can run you about 100 bucks. If you turn down the distortion about half way, the mids up about 3/4, and the low end at full, it produces an effect(when you add reverb, slight chorus from amp) that sounds like Nine Inch Nails broken album.

Awesome. Thanks!

you know, funny I never thought of it until now...you should check harmony-central.com forumz ....if you put this same thread over there, you'd get TONs of opinions that would help you.

Ill check it out.

I am replacing my humbucker on the bridge, but I am thinking that my single coil in the neck isnt going to be compatible.

How does it work out when you combine an active bridge with a passive neck?

that's actually a REALLY good question and I have no idea. Another good thread candidate for harmonycentral. :thu:

I haven't read thru the topic's so I am assuming you have unlimited budget..

I would personally love to put two EMG's in my tele but that ain't happening..
So some EMG's of any flavor

And any type of old fender tube amp with a good over drive pedal.. Boss Metalzone or something.. Or just go firewire if your not gigging GL

Do you think you can get pretty good sound from a solid state amp for industrial music? I know tubes are great, but not necessarily great in my price range.

I bought a pair of SD Blackouts, which in my opinion are out competing EMG which previously set the bar for active pickups.

Some people will disagree with me but them Spider amps (line 6) are really good solid state amps with alot of variation's in tone.. Good bang for the buck..

Peavey also is good solid state as well..

I agree with this, and actually for the OP genre, SS probably better. My bad for mentioning tubes.

I was also going to say, as a shot in the dark, that Line6 and/or Peavey would be more likely to have the right tonez for that genre.

Good call, fatkid :thu:

Those amps (As well as some of the better reviewed cheaper models, as I only need a 30-40 wat) sound like they have the effects i am looking for, but I dont know if I really care for digital settings. That is one reason I think I like the Tech-21, is all the cool manual settings. The question is whether I can get the sound I want out of it.

If I am going to go digital, how do you think this Vox would sound?

And the Vypry is in the mail, along with my Blackout-2 active pickups.
