Stopping smoking :(

haha that sounds amazing, but yea i do actually and i do smoke, but not loads, my parents also dont know that i smke fags so i dont smoke regularly, just when i fancy one. but i did smoke quite regularly for a while before i smoked green and my appetite was still the same.

but then again, you could be right, ive had a few people say abotu fags actually

but i have def cut down, only in evenings and at work that i smoke...so hopefully if i keep that up i may only need to smoke when im rolling!

have been eating three meals a day, i found that my appetite has improved quite a lot and as long as i dont eat a lot in one sitting, i can eat a normal amount in the day.

little and often i think :D

but now...i have an a level exam on monday...so im off to studay

If you really like tokin, how about you just cut your session in half or maybe even a quarter of what you smoke now?

Marijuana will cause laziness (where you're too high to want to get your ass up n eat) but it does not cause eating disorders. Side effects include dry mouth, red eyes, paranoia, but not eating problems.

Cut your smoking down, eat 5 small meals a day n get some exercise.

yeaaa iv cut it down to comedowns and special occasions onllllyyy

well ive been a week now and not one toke :D not even been smoking more fags in replacement which i find quite strange

but yea comedowns are raw without weed so this is probs the only time ill "need" it

yea i dont get why my appetite was kinda destroyed once i started smoking weed, cz i did smoke fags beforehand and my eating wasn't affected and it wasnt like i smoked LOADS of joints in a day really

i mean most people i know that do smoke it say that they cant eat unless they smoke

but i dunno, my body has always been weird, always something wrong with it!

has anybody else given up? or do you know anyone that has?

cz ive had this really strange cleaning obsession ever since...just tidying, hoovering, cleaning etc.

its just weird,a dn definetly out of character! i dont think my rooms stayed so tidy over this amount of time!!

Go to the gym.

Going on a 5 day split gets my apitite up, weight perfect, and has me feeling better and better each day. It's a pain to get started, but after you work out, you feel like you've earned that bowl at home :)

Quitting isn't the only path. If it is the one you've choosen, stick with it, and you will notice changes in the first week.

If you want to continue smoking, it's time to supplement it with good daily food and exercise choices. Keep active both mentally and physically, and smoke less.

That's the best advice I think anyone can offer you.
 
Ive been smoking about 4 years and have definatly noticed weed has fucked up my appetite. I usually HAVE to smoke in the mornings to make sure I can eat through out the day.

Sometimes I wont eat for 18+ hours just because I havnt smoked, even though i'll be starving, with no appetite I aint gonna try eat.

One of my meds makes it so that I'm not really hungry anymore. That plus me not smoking pot as much...what I've found is that if I've got a decent amount of beverage (usually carbonated), I'm able to eat more. Take a sip with every bite. Makes the food easier to go down when you're really not into it.
 
I smoked strong bud many times a day for four months. By the end, I had stomach pain, food looked kind of disgusting, and my eyes were becoming zombified. Also, really bad depression at times and overall unhappiness. Don't get me wrong, weed is an amazing drug if you know how to use it, but after months or years of smoking all day, it can definitely start screwing with you. I've been off the pipe for less than a week, and I feel a lot slower than I used to, but I notice a slight improvement every day or two. Stick with your plan. At first, I actually felt stupider without the weed than with it.
Has anyone noticed that doors look a bit creepier now that you've smoked a lot, compared to before you started? Might just be me.

As for your question: sleep, exercise, socialize, memorize, and eat healthily. It may also be good to take supplements. 5-htp got my mood nearly back to normal. I'd say 100mg is a good amount, maybe every day or every other day for about a week. The only downside is slight nausea that goes away after a short time. I weigh 200 pounds, and sometimes I only feel comfortable if I cut the pill in half, but I hear that some of the strong pills have 500mg, which is ridiculous. I once took 200mg and felt terrible for about an hour, really nauseous but not dizzy or disoriented.

Oh, and I just read about a drug called Piracetam. You should check it out, apparently it's the closest thing to a perfect smart drug.
 
sounds proper interesting with the 5htp pills and i think if i do find it hard to keep this up or end up losing my motivation to keep everything going in my life, this will def be a possibility

i mean generally i was quite lazy anyway and really bad at keeping commitments afloat etc. you just need to learn not to hide away and just smoke weed

so easy to though! so easy just to bury your head in the sand with all the things you need to do and just smoke weed. but unless im going to control how much I will have i don't think that im motivated enough to keep everything going at the especially with laods of shit going on at the moment.

hopefully things will change in the future, but until iget all this stuff sorted and get into uni and get my a levels done (after fucking up yr 13... :() i dont think i can trust myself to

haha well i spose i wont be able to help myself for inno in the dam and cannabis cup in november in amsterdam, i mean who could?! haha but ill make sure to keep it going after that.

only thing im finding trouble with is sleeping. im trying to cut down on fizzy drinks, and sugar, but becuase i used to use weed as a sleep aid as i used to have trouble going to sleep and staying asleep, its gotten all the mre worse, and my mind just does not shut down!!!

when i go dr's next i might ask about this...

orrr buy som herbal tea or something

anyone know a good way of shutting down before bed...without the need for my ever so missed "bedtime joint" :(?

Eat a better diet (lots of fruits and vegetables) and drink plenty of water, maybe take a vitamin, get some sun, exercise, and find something that takes up time so you won't get bored and smoke.

If you're having trouble sleeping cut down on caffeine like it's OK to drink coffee/tea or caffeine in the morning/afternoon but not in the evenings unless you have to stay up late and work or something.

I don't get it sometimes... You know weed is a drug, why abuse the shit out of it?

You'll recover just fine. 4 months is not a long time to binge out on weed... There are a ton of threads in CD all about quitting and how to avoid the temptations of smoking bud, just use the search function.

Ye, Valarian Root tea and 5mg of Melatonin. You can find both at any herbal shop or most pharmacies.

and yea i know 4/5 months isnt long, but my body and mind are both fucked :S

well prob not as bad as it seems to me, but i just hit a bit of a low and turned to that to make things better...but if you use it for that kind of shit it can make things a lot worse

i feel well better for turning evrything around. i mean i still got a way to go and i am totally one of those people who start things and never carry on with them. but i have high hopes :D

and now i have my family supporting me with shit and my bf and his family and dr's and work, i think that if i start to slip, hopefully one of those will help me swim back up to the surface!!!

just sayin that im not very good at looking after myself so prob need a lot more than most to sort myself out, and my drug tolerance is proper proper low :S so anything is potent to me...

and i will totes go into the health shop 2moro in the village and have a look around for those things *writes down* cz i cant stand not being able to sleep. leaves me proper stressy in the morning and even when im laying there trying to sleep, i cannot shut down and stop thinking about all the things i have to do and worry about and it drives me mad!!

and yea the frequency in which people take their drugs i feel is each to their own. i mean iv found out pretty quickly that i cant handle it and i cant be responsible enough with my own bdy to do it! but others are different and some people would rather have difficulty with eating and stuff cz it helps them n different ways, ie psycological etc, some people have trouble dealing with shit and it eases things off. everyones different init

anyways im off to try and attempt some sleep due to and exam in the morning! yay maths....erghh

Sounds like you have a very fast metabolism, just like I had while smoking. Sugars and especially caffeine will affect you alot. Drink water during the day and heaps of milk before you sleep. While smoking I found that I never had enough fluids I firmly believe this was a a big factor for keeping me lean and especially coca cola.

For sleep, check out google. i know a few people who have used weed as a sleep aid, which in the short term is good compared to other drugs, but i feel (like _any_ other drug) is a bad LONG term solution (unless have other long term problems...)...

Like the OP, i am a pretty bad sleeper in general - but i hav read/watched alot about improving ur sleep). It takes alot, as my mind is always on.. First aid i use to sleep is a mask! I used to be really bad with light/seeing through my eyelids and this helped alot. Its also a 'trigger' - like weed was - a trigger that your body will get to know as 'sleep time'.
Other sleep advice:
- Earplugs (if u can tolerate them). As above.
- Dont lie in bed for hours. if u cant sleep, get up and have a cup of tea, watch some tv (dont procastinate) and then go back to bed with a clear mind.
- Only use your bed for sleep. dont read or study in it. This makes your bed another sleep 'trigger'.
- Keep your room clean and tidy - make it a nice place - candles and smells can help.
- If u have something on ur mind, get up and write it down and then file it away for the morning. Just commit yourself to writing any thoughts down and be done with them.
- In bed, start with your feet and work ur way up your body, tensing EVERY SINGLE MUSCLE you can. Hold each for about 20seconds, and work ur way up, targeting different groups. After 10minutes, stop.
- A bath bfore bed can help. It brings ur body temp up and then when u get into bed your body temp will come down. this reduction will help trigger sleep.
- Dont oversleep. In the morning, dont sleepin if u miss alot of sleep. Keep to a single sleep pattern for best results. If u have gone a week with bad sleeping, there is a technique of waking yourslf up early every morning, and then resetting ur sleep pattern. Google this if all else fails!

Also echoing the above comments. Treat weed like alcohol (dont just use it as an arguement for legalisation!~) Being drunk everyday is no way to live.. Try not to smoke in a constant pattern. The first thing i learnt when weed opened my mind was our body is all about triggers, patterns, and routine. We unconciously program ourselves to be stoners just as other people become atheletes, mathematicians and policitians..!
