Trogdor's Beverage Cannabination Process:
For Highly-Absorbable Medicine.

Note:
Your chosen beverage must contain enough substance for which the non-polar cannabinoids to stick. If the THC can't stick to the beverage (for example, unsweetened tea), it will precipitate out of solution when the alcohol is boiled off. If this happens, psychoactive particles will fall to the bottom of your container, but they will still be potent if swallowed.

DO NOT USE EVERCLEAR OR ANY OTHER POTENT ALCOHOL NEAR AN OPEN FLAME.

1. Take your raw cannabis and break it into as small of pieces as possible, or grind it.

2. Microwave your flower powder on MEDIUM for 20 seconds, then let the plate cool. This dries the cannabis and converts any THCA to more potent THC.

3. Repeat step 2 two more times. The plate should not become hot to the touch.

4. Put the cannabis into an empty clean glass bottle.

5. Add to the bottle one shot (30-50 mL) of Everclear grain alcohol per gram of cannabis used and close the lid tightly (the bottle still needs to be mostly empty to prevent a pressure explosion).

6. Place the bottle into a pot of water and turn the stove heat onto MEDIUM. Don't let the bottom of the bottle sit directly on the bottom of the pot.

DO NOT OPEN THE LID OF THE BOTTLE UNTIL IT HAS COOLED DOWN OR THE ALCOHOL WILL EXPLODE OUT OF THE BOTTLE, ESPECIALLY IF THE ALCOHOL WAS VISIBLY BOILING WHEN YOU REMOVED THE BOTTLE FROM THE POT. If you do not want to pressure-extract your cannabis, you can keep the lid off of the bottle throughout the entire process, however you will need to use more Everclear this way.)

7. Shake or swirl the bottle periodically. Try to keep all of the herb at the bottom.

8. After an hour, let the bottle cool down for a few minutes until you can safely hold it with a piece of cloth. Open the lid and quickly pour all of the contents through a fine mesh strainer and collect the liquid.

9. Collect all of the cannabis from the strainer and put it back into the bottle, adding new Everclear. You don't need as much alcohol as you used the first wash.

10. Put the bottle back into the hot pot for between 10 and 30 minutes.

11. Strain and collect the second wash. Your cannabis is now very depleted and can be discarded.

12. (Optional) Place the liquid into a clean glass bottle with the lid off and put it into the hot water. Reduce the alcohol to a thin green syrup at 180 degrees Fahrenheit.

13. Mix your desired beverage into the bottle containing the cannabis extract and shake/stir. You now have cannabinated beverage concentrate.

14. (Optional) Boil the remaining alcohol out of the concentrate at 180 degrees Fahrenheit until the liquid stops bubbling, then finish at 190 degrees Fahrenheit.

15. Mix your cannabinated concentrate with your beverage of choice.

You have just cannabinated your beverage (which means your drink is objectively less harmful to yourself and your surroundings than an alcoholic beverage).

Enjoy!

why are you not just letting the alcohol/thc solution bowl on its own? is there a reason for putting it inside the closed jar and then boiling that over water?

You lose alcohol if you let it boil out during step 6 and then you have to use quite a bit more of it, plus the extraction is more efficient under pressure. The water acts as a temperature buffer which keeps the extraction process consistent.

Do not extract over an open flame.

Some thoughts on this method:

1. You could use vodka. I don't. Vodka extractions will cook your cannabis slightly and make it soggy while everclear keeps the small pieces of flower crisp when they dry. Vodka will still make potent extractions. I don't use it so I can't tell you if the method needs to be altered for it. Besides, if I wanted to use 40% alcohol, I could just add distilled water to my everclear and keep it pure.

2. I like to open up the bottle at least once during the process and jam a plastic flat-ended chopstick into the bottle repeatedly to squeeze the good tincture out of the flower particles. Does this help extract the material more thoroughly? *Shrug.*

3. I'm working on a lazy man's version of this tek. The difference is, instead of keeping the stove burner on for an entire hour or so, you heat the water until it boils and then turn off the heat. The water will stay hot for a long time and will continue to actively extract the cannabinoids for as long as your bottle is in the hot water. Should you shake the bottle periodically? Yeah, probably. Tek in progress.

4. I use a $15 digital meat thermometer to check the temperature of the water during the alcohol removal stage. Highly recommended.

5. If some of the alcohol boils off and escapes the bottle (which it probably will), you might have to add a little everclear to the bottle before straining your extracted material so that you don't waste any.

6. A third wash will not hurt, but will result in the further removal of all of the stuff that's in the flowers, possibly leaving the flowers themselves a uniform light tan color. Not necessarily the best tasting product, especially if you're not using high-quality seedless cannabis.

7. You still may end up with particles in your beverage when following this process exactly, especially if your strainer isn't all that fine. You could use a paper coffee filter - I'd rather use a coffee filter made of brass.

8. You can skip the second wash, and then you'll have cannabis that is still almost worth smoking. A shorter extraction will remove the majority of the THC and still leave you with somewhat smokable flowers.

9. Another thing you can do once you have a good tincture is to reduce the alcohol down to a sticky syrup and then roll unextracted cannabis around in it and let it dry. This makes your smokable bud extra-strong and is similar to the way that Salvia divinorum is processed.

10. The threat of pressure explosion might be exaggerated in this tek. It's happened to me though. Hot alcohol and your face don't mix well. (Think: eye protection)

11. To reduce the alcohol more quickly, you might try air pressure techniques to remove the vapors from the bottle. A simple version of this is blowing through a bendy straw inserted into the bottle. Caution: breathing in alcohol vapors can result in feeling as though you've just been breathing in alcohol vapors.

12. If you're going to do step 14, don't skip step 12, and don't add too much concentrate liquid in step 13 or it'll take forever to boil out the rest of the alcohol. Alcohol is bitter and will disflavor your beverage.

13. So far it's looking like an Ariziona tea 16oz (from Walgreens) is the right bottle for the job.
