So who likes benzos? El Benzo Threado Spectacularrrr 2nd Edition

If I took 9 I would sleep for 24 hours and feel weak the next day. I've taken 7 mg at once and found work to be VERY hard the next day. I'm a teacher. Standing up was even more than I could handle. The thing is, I get 60 mg a month and use them up in two weeks. I take one in the morning and another at lunchtime, and two at night to go to bed. I'm wondering if I can ask my doctor for more.

As long as you have already been on the 60mg a month for a little while, I see no reason why you can't ask. The worst he can do is say no. What's the harm? :)

Obviously it depends in what you're actually be prescribe it for, but I would think that if you were to ask for a higher quantity the doctor would be looking for alternatives to benzos. As the dose you're being given obviously isn't "working". I can't see the doctor just prescribing larger and larger doses and hope for the best (that it fixes what ever illness you have [or supposed to have ;) ] ).

Love to hate them. I really am sick of being on them everyday. The withdrawals are not worth the "high"
I never known anyone with my history like my friends to ever quit benzos.
So word of warning.
But i do have to say Hypnodorm and Clonazepam are my benzos of choice.
I tried them all even RC ones... Well except this japanese one that used to be a legal high and bromazepam been meaning on getting some but just aint got around to it and have a stock pile of hundreds of benzos. Liquid clonaz is what i using right now.

This might help some of you http://www.freshstart.org.au/medical-flumazenil.html
hope its ok to post links like this. I do believe it could help some people it worries me seeing so many people liking them. It seems most people learn the hard about benzo addiction.

Been thinking of switching over to barbs for 2 weeks to get off benzos or using flumazenil benzo flush, but its seems to only be done by one doctor in West oz. In MIMS it only talks about using it for over doses.

I seriously caution you if you were to go over to any barbiturate! If you are serious about getting off benzos, I would suggest you speak with your doctor, be up front and 100% truthful and see what they diagnose. Obviously you haven't given us a lot of information in that post, however have you tried even just tapering the dose to ween off them? Self medication of barbiturates is a very touchy game!

In regards to flumazenil, as "impressive" as the website is, I can't see how helpful it would actually be in helping one kick a benzo addiction. It is, after all just a benzodiazepine antagonist. You take the flumazenil, you're body feels the need for a benzo fix and you have to take more in order to get the same effect you're used to (since the receptors are being filled by the flumazenil). Not to mention which benzo you have on had and whether it has a higher efficacy then the flumazenil.

Anyway good luck with it all. :)

Is anyone aware of the legality of phenazepam in australia? I've seen on a few RC sites that its listed as legal in most countries, but I couldn't get any specific details...

Also, my fave benzo's are oxazepam and alprazolam! =D

Oxazepam is perfect for me as I have social anxiety and alprazolam is great for just chilling right the fuck out after a binge or just for the fun of it!

I usually have a bar of alprazolam and go to sleep after a long nite abusing stims or psychs. Codeine is much better to chill on.

^ The reason you felt clearer the next day after xanax than valium is because valium has a much longer half life and is still affecting you the next day.

The ativan went well with codeine last week, was pretty sedating and overpowered the codeine a little, if I get another oppurtunity to try it I will use 1mg instead of 2 and see how that goes.

would it have been too sedating because of the dose and the codeine? what's your usual tolerance like again?

i've just been put back on valium(for for hypertension causing panic and anxiety attacks), 5mg b.d, though can take an extra one through the day if needed.

since i tapered from valium earlier in the year and have sporadically used since (mind you in large doses and in combination with opiates, alcohol) my tolerance is at the point where i'm getting a little too sedated from 10mg, which is what kills my anxiety, but isn't conducive to me be able to concentrate on tasks at hand, finding myself easily distracted and getting lethargic - falling asleep for an hour or so is a common thing:| this is even without morphine in me.

i'm going to suggest to my doctor about lorazepam but am unsure as how it compares to valium sedation and in terms of anxiety elimination. the benzo chart has 1mg equiv to 10mg, is that a fair assumption?

if so, i think a 0.25-0,5mg dose would be suitable for me

i would prefer if i were on a not-as-recreational-benzo as diazepam as well because of my past (and still existing) love affair with it

i understand your points, but i'm not fully comfortable being back on valium because of past addictions. i understand lorazepam is shorter acting and is what i'm after at this point because the anxiety attacks are being brought on from high BP and dissipates shortly after a benzo dose.

xanax is out of the question for me, for personal reasons.

thanks for you input though

Since this is the end all, be all, benzo thread, I would like to see if I can get someone to comment on the Xanax bars. They are the weirdest shaped pills I've ever seen... I don't have them sitting right here by me by they are imprinted with two lines, effectively making it look like you could split them into equal thirds, and on one end there's a 3. There are a couple other letters and numbers imprinted into the pill. The bottle said they are two milligrams. Why are they shaped like that? And why do they not put me to sleep like the football shaped xanax do? I can take two bars and still go about my day without the slightest weakness or fatigue I feel on the footballs, but I do seem to stay calm. Are the bars the same thing? Are them time release? All the stuff I've found on line about them so far has not been helpful. Why don't the bars make me nod out?

we can't help you ID them, but maybe they're extended release xanax. even if you crush them, it still does not break the time release, it takes a little more effort. search through OD for XR Xanax threads and you'll have a better understanding

Thank you leftwing. I appreciate any leads I can get at this point. I am going to keep an eye out. Thanks again.

Leftwing, I often use diazepam with the same dose of codeine I used the ativan with. According to benzo equivalency charts the 2mg I took is about twice the dose of the 10mg of diazepam I usually down with my codeine.

Because of the dosage difference I cannot say with 100% certainty that it wasn't just because of the relatively higher dose, but I don't find the codeine high to be that much more sedating whether I use valium or not, I find valium just adds to the muscle relaxation and sense of well being. The dose of ativan made the high VERY sedating, I enjoy being very sedated but I ended up sleeping through more than half my high when I used ativan with it.

Overall for me personally it would seem as though lorazepam is a more sedating benzo than diazepam, but I would need to do more experiments with it to say for certain.

^thanks man. i acquired a bottle of .25mg (travacalm brand) xanax tonight which i'm using in the mean time and they're working just fine, though obviously not my desired choice.

Have you ever combined xanax with codeine and if so how did you find it? I imagine it would be on the very sedating side of things, I have a little xanax sitting there but supply is limited and I am pretty much just using valium until such time as I can re up my xanax. I really should just bite the bullet and give it a whack.

I have a mate that swear by combining temazepam with codeine, I have never had the oppurtunity to try it in the dose he suggests but that is on the cards too.

Purely talking anxiety relief I only really have experience with xanax and valium, of which I find xanax in the right dose works better but for nowhere near as long. I love the fact I can get high on valium at night and notice reduced inhibitions/anxiety the next day.

it depends on what i dose first. if i use the codeine(as it it begining to take effect) and add .5-1mg of xanax it complements the opaite high quite nicely, the timing works out well for synegerism. if i take the xanax before (it hits me reasonablr hard) it bluntens the opiate euphoria as codeine takes longer to take and effect on me

temazepam has similar effect as xanax on me, except temaze is the more euphoric of them

i know, there are only 2mg and 5mg tabs available in australia, unfortunately:( i wish we had the 30mg temaze caps as well.

Also... a couple of weeks back, I spent the weekend withdrawing from Valium for no other reason than I realised I'd been 'on' for several months straight... remind me not to do that again.

Something interesting I've noticed lately... Doctors are happy to hand over scripts for Valium as though they feel almost compelled to do it. Say the word 'Xanax' and its like you've hit the duress alarm under the desk in a shop.

A while ago a mate who was 17 at the time and not exactly an upstanding looking 17 year old either, walked out of a doctors office after 5 minutes with a months script and a promise of more...

Still don't understand that one.

What's oxazepam like scott?

I don't think it's to common - what's it used to specifically treat?

edit - Instead I should say, what do you have it prescribed for ? How would you compare it with other benzos such as temazepam, diazepam and alprazolam?
