What tripping might be like?

Basically, no compilation of written descriptions or visual images truly describe what it's like.
Perhaps you can take the cannabis headspace, remove the short term memory errors, and then multiply by a couple times...and then apply it to the visual and auditory systems (somehow).

The Fear and Loathing carpeting thing has come closest, but it doesn't contain characteristic patterning with infinite detail. ;)

The psychedelic headspace is so far removed from everyday consciousness that its essence can't be communicated using verbal language. I actually find that certain qualities of the psychedelic experience can be communicated using the emotional language of music, but thats also highly subjective.

There's nothing to be scared of though, the mindstates you encounter on psychedelics are merely different permutations of the consciousness you've come to identify as yourself. If you get freaked out, it just means that you weren't ready to encounter that facet of your own mind yet. Good luck on your journeys, pillthrill. :)

every one of those videos made me want to try a hallucagen less.. i hope the visuals arent like any of that

I will have to say you all seem to be on your own enlightened realm. I certainly could use some peace and understanding within myself. But I think the best bet is to find a happy time where I feel I'm ready to learn something new and grow from the situation.
I'm just nervous that if I'm nervous I'm gonna have as bad trip... and then never do it or maybe be the same again...

There's the thing - you won't be the same :)

I've never had an entirely bad trip. And I've tripped plenty. There are spots within the trip that may be uncomfortable but there are also spots of intense euphoria and understanding. Its natural to be nervous, sometimes I still get nervous or anxious before a trip but once it starts I feel great.

I think you're going to be pleasantly suprised :)

You drop your substance. Some time later, you feel slightly 'off.' Lots of people experience this as nausea, but you don't necessarily have to. You'll probably feel scared and tense. Just talk these feelings away. They're just being caused by you, not the trip yet.

So the 'off' feeling culminates into a full fledged "headspace." Depending on you and your drug, you might start seeing visuals, you may not. Usually you'll get engaged with a thought, event, or concept that's important to you. Go forward positively and you'll usually end up feeling good and feeling that you're gaining important new perspectives and wisdom on the subject. If you go forward negatively, then these thoughts will just swim and cycle over a lot and be really aggravating.

If you dosed a lot, then the experience kicks up, and you get even less control over your thoughts. But you can still control your "mood" relatively, and if you keep it positive, it should still be good. The thoughts on a heavy dose are less verbal, and less concrete and very abstract. Just feel good about understanding what you understand, and try to understand what you don't, but don't feel frustrated or negative over elements you can't grasp (yet).

On the comedown, write down all the thoughts you can remember, or talk to someone about it, or make a drawing or painting, or if you're feeling tired, just some music and relaxation. Whatever works best for you to process a heavy event. You will likely feel either empowered and happy, or at least relieved and released. Sometimes you could feel bad. I haven't experienced that ending yet though.

And no matter what happens, if you lose your grip, just repeat over and over "I took a drug. It'll be over soon. I took a drug. It'll be over soon." That life-raft mantra has gotten me through everything so far.

Being happy isn't a necessity for tripping. If you feel suicidal sometimes, then it might be better to give it a miss.

I feel suicidal sometimes if I don't take my meds and I'm sure it would be horrible if I did it and I already was. Does that mean I just have to be in a good spot or because I'm already prone it's a bad idea.

Oh, eh, I just tossed it out for considerations. Some moods are no good for tripping. I trip a lot when I start feeling down or anxious and it works good for me, but it doesn't always, especially in some other people I know.

If you're in a good spot and you're educated in the substance you're taking, then a light to medium-light experience would probably be really good for you. Or at least, fun.

I think I was being a bit melodramatic in my last post. I recommend tripping to almost all people. If you have a trip-sitter with you, and are educated on the substance and dose, then the risks are pretty minimal.

You're over thinking it!

The best way to enjoy psyches imo is to go into it with no expectations, you will come out with a new understanding.

Whats the meds? (sorry, haven't read the whole thread) :)

To be truthful, taking a psychedelic while in a bad headspace s not wise; but the fact is- if you take one, you probably will encounter the HEADSPACE no matter what- paticulaly wth such as LSD which can be rather up-and-down. If you know how to deal with a negatve feeling when sober/psychotic/wthdrawing/what-have-you, you do stand a better chance of being able to reason it out- depending, of course, whether the negatve feeling is real (ie. not psychotic/withdrawl induced) or a result of the chemical- whch really amounts to the same thing. 8o;)

I dunno, I've had quite a bit of trauma in my life, enough to fuck me up for a long time and continue to do so- BUT; I use the knowledge of how to deal with that IN my trips, which also helps to reinforce it when back-on-earth. Win-win, but there often comes a battle....YMMV

Lamical, a mood stabilizer. I can be all over the place with Borderline Personality Disorder and all.
Right now, I want to find my center, my meaning in life, I'm at a job I hate and can't get out of a.t.m., going to endless school that I don't give a shit about anymore. The only thing I got in my bf, he is my light at the end of the tunnel some days.

Ah yess :) Be glad you have your boy there :) <3 One can always fnd comfort knowng their Mr., or Miss(Swilow in this case)- is simply n existnce :)

Maybe you should try something like 2C-E; its VERY psychedelic, but also- helps retain some more methodical and logical thinking- which can be very directed to finding your-SELF. That said, its very very strong- and can be overwhelming.

I would almost certainly suggest trying to utilise DMT in small amounts (smoked) mght also be of benefit. Maybe 30mgs or less smoked might bring you closer to where you want to be :) Its short acting, powerful (not scary!! :)) and can be quite relaxing. Some people do get worried about how strongly the effects begin, but they subside into normalty within ten minutes or less. You could try smaller amounts to test your reaction....15-10mgs I guess would be a good feeler :)

I hope you find what your looking for Pillthrill, I am familar (well, via BL of course) with your background and do hope the best for you and yours <3 <3 :)

EDIT: I would be cautious re: Lamictal and psychedelics...

I usually decide how I want to integrate my psychedelic experiences into my life AFTER I have learned what they have to show me. While they can be an excellent tool to help you achieve the things you are seeking, they will not change or fix things for you. It is still up to you to decide how you will let the experience effect you after it is over.

The magic pill does not exist.

When it comes down to it, only you are going to be able to decide for yourself when you are ready. Fealings of nervous and anxiety are normal, but if you genuinely feel you will not deal well with them, then that is your choice! Personally, I think 'bad trips' aren't as common as you might believe. Even what a lot of people consider a 'bad' trip, is just them not being able to deal with what they are being shown, and continuing to repress those things even after they are no longer experiencing the effects of the drug.

I wish you the best, what ever you decide to do!! <3

I definitely agree with this. DMT is an extremely loving teacher, it will usually show you what you need to be shown. IMO its also very normalizing to ones brain function, after a DMT trip I feel so relaxed and refreshed, like I've just given my brain a bath and all my neurotransmitter levels are normalized. :)
