How does this work?

To answer the question properly:

The way this works is by appealing to those of us who are a little more easily convinced than we should be.

Ive had this question to because i know people who said theyve eaten hash and got stoned, is there something is the hash making process which makes the thc digestable?

cant beleive none of you ever did butter with weed, or even cookies, same principle.

How is it the same principle? When you make weed butter you cook the weed in the butter to extract the THC into the fat. Here there is no cooking, hes just putting the hash into a piece of melon...

If you could explain how it works thatd be great

...THC has always been digestible, it's the plant matter that it comes packaged in that we have a tough time breaking down.

thc is digestable but not easily absorbed by the body without being attached to fats or alcohol. thats my understanding anyway.

lulz, the same principle is that they're eating weed.

the differing principle is the form of weed that they're eating.

it's not easily absorbed from the form that it naturally comes in (buds).

you ingest pure crystalline THC and i guarantee you'll be high off your ass. people bond the chemical with fats and alcohols instead of extracting it from the plant because it's easier to cook with bud than it is to isolate, extract, and purify that main psychoactive ingredient from your nugs.

edit: think of it like a whole coconut being swallowed and digested. all the good stuff is hidden behind the outer shell, right? depending on a whole bunch of variables, your stomach acid may or may not break through the coconut's tough exterior shell. if it does, your body'll gain access to the treasure inside and start to digest the milk. if you don't manage to break through the shell, though, the milk is left untouched and does nothing but stay inside of the coconut as the fruit passes through the bowels.

with weed, most of the THC is in the plant matter and not outside of it, so in order to get access to the THC your body has to break down the plant matter first (which takes hella time because fiber is a bitch on the digestive tract), release the THC and other cannabinoids, break them down and then transport the chemicals to the rest of your body... and keep in mind that digestion does have a time-clock on it, and it's pretty common for a person to pass incompletely digested food through their bowels (shit-corn ring any bells?).

TL;DR: so, long story short, people eat nugs right out of the bag and don't get high for reasons listed above, but instead of using common sense most people figure "well... since i didn't get high the THC must not be active or something." lol, fuck that, man, the chemical's always active, it's just not always easily accessible to your digestive tract.

So by removing most of the plant matter by making hash makes the thc readily available to the gut?

no decarboxylating, no nothing and you get high off munching straight hash?

wouldn't more people eat their hash then?

I believe most of the THC present isn't decarboxylated, its inactive until heat is applied to it, hence smoking it and heating it in food gets you high. Plant matter also plays a role, not being very digestable at all. I'm not sure how a pure extract of weed works, like alcohol, it may decarboxylate during that process.

Hash that is heated and compressed is probably decarboxylated, I'm not sure if you ate raw uncompressed hash you'd get high, but a chemical extract hash you could. Then again hash could be as hard to digest as it is still plant matter.
