Are there any antidepressant drugs that acts similar to the way amphetamines do? but without the harsh side effect profile. I've been on antidepressants for years, but I found amphetamine was the only thing that truly took away all my symptoms of depression and social phobia. Some people have suggested Parnate, however I have been on other MAOI drugs such as selegiline and Nardil. Wellbutrin did nothing for me. Modafinil was another option that was brought up and I am on it right now, but it still doesn't nullify my depressive symptoms the way amphetamine does and was kinda disappointing. I've heard others say amisulpuride is a good med for dysthmia and anhedonia so I might try that if the mirapex doesn't work out which I was just prescribed.

I really don't wanna go the route of amphetamines though. Because although they work better than all the other meds I still don't wanna deal with the side effects and tolerance/addiction problems. Yet at the same time I cannot function normally in society, talking to people seems pointless, and I experience absolutely no pleasure in life.

Dont you suffer ADD symptons by accident? If so you may be able to use amphetamines safely.

Well my general doctor said he didn't think I had it. My parents thought I did. Although they might have linked it to my motivation and depressive problems. Plus its difficult to find a doctor who will give a time release Dexedrine or vynase.

I was really routing for wellbutrin to work when I got a script. However it didn't work. Selegiline was the next thing, but it was like taking a sugar pill. Im only on prozac right now and the recently scripted mirapex, which partially helped. I really hope the mirapex works.

I however really wanna try to find another route if its possible. I don't wanna deal with the neurotoxic effects and crashes that amphetamine can give.I heard some people say vynase is the least "harshest" of the stimulants. Survector seemed like the perfect thing for me expect that they don't use it anymore and its nearly impossible to find. If the mirapex doesn't work I'll probably goto amisulpride or abilify and If that doesn't work then I'm gonna have to go through the annoying task of faking ADD and finding a doc who won't throw me stratera samples. I've thought about ECT but nearly everyone is against it, even though I have read it has a 90% remission rate. However it is temporary and can cause memory loss/damage.

I have tried all the ssri's, and I'm in your boat, their effectiveness is so weak I often think the effect is just in my head. Your description of depression was very good. I too have lost the will to be a member of society. Its very hard to think of anything that excites me or gets me up and moving. right now I get adderall IR, xanax, AND methadone! you must be wondering how can I possibly be depressed? lol....i was prescribed the adderall for the very symtoms you have, lack of energy and focus to do anything, i was never diagnosed with add. tolerance develops fast, though. i always have a big surplus because I cant handle taking adderall every day for obvious reasons. I get 30mg a day, but instead take 60 like 4 times a week. If you ever figure out your depression, please let me know.

I'm not complaining or anything, but a subforum called Ask the (non)Doctor might be a big hit around here.

I'm not saying these aren't important questions. I think society has evolved so that a lot of people (males?) can't function in it without powerful psychotropics. It's like nature's trying to kick you out of the genepool. Kick back! Fuck a schizo.
