Cocaine Cocaine - Overdose or Comedown

What is the difference between a cocaine overdose and the comedown? I have been really nervous using this substance because I consistently exhibit overdose symptoms every time I do cocaine that begins 30 minutes to an hour after each line, and lasts for about 1 to 2 hours.

I get strange sensations and weakness underneath my left thigh, mild (not profuse) sweating, general fatigue, mild paranoia, mild fasciculation, slow breathing, and mild impairment of coordination. Paradoxically, I have normal heart rate, albeit mild palpitations.

I would normally attribute this to the comedown, but what has been bothering me is a strange symptom that I have found no posts regarding. I get this fuzzy feeling in my brain that feels like it is sucking me in. It is similar to the feeling of having a head rush. It only lasts a few seconds, and changing my posture makes it go away most times. Also, it only happens when I am sitting or laying down.

About me: I am in good medical condition, although I suffer from chronic postural hypotension. I am relatively young, and I use 0.5 grams of blow in 5 lines over the course of 3-4 hours once every couple weeks.

If anyone has had a similar experience I would really appreciate it!

People with cardiovascular issues need exercise caution (or abstain completely) when using stimulants. It may take less strain than usual for such an individual to experience cardiac arrest.

I don't have cardiovascular issues, chronic postural hypotension is neurologically mediated. My heart is in perfect condition.

I see. Good.

Well then, an overdose will begin with a severly elevated heart rate, followed then cardiac arrest. Or erratic heartbeat followed by heart failure.

Of course. My real concern, I guess, is if this sensation is typical for a comedown, or if it is a symptom of a simple partial seizure.

Another question that could ease my concerns would be this: For a person who is insufflating cocaine and has experienced a seizure, how long after the last line did the seizure occur?

Well, yes those are common symtoms of a cocaine comedown with the exception of fasciculation and perhaps lack of coordination.

Do you have a history of seizures?

Well, I had a few complex partial seizures when I stopped taking my clonazepam several years ago, but I have experienced no epileptic seizures.

The feeling is reminiscent of the aura before these, but I have had this sensation more than a dozen times after doing blow. You could also relate this to the way your brain feels right after coming up on MDMA, but before you are peaking. You know, that uncomfortable limbo with all the weird feelings, but no euphoria yet.

Maybe I am over simplifying this, but it sounds to me like you are just sitting down for a few hours or whatever and experiencing a head rush because you have not moved around for a bit and your are doing cocaine.

maybe you just need to cut down on the length of time you have your face to the mirror. you could also try another roa (try not to get on the needle though please) to help this out.

this comes from experience not ego.

Stimulants are known to trigger seziures with people who are predisposed to seizures. If you have experienced them before, I would say it is a risk anyway, if not a direct correlation.

I used to loose ALL coordination after injection a couple of grams of decent blow in a few hours period. Shit sucks.

I suppose I have not been so clear in my question. I just want to know if there is anyone else that has had any strange sensations in their head after using cocaine. In particular, sensations that:
Feel like you are being sucked in to a different state of consciousness
Feel like you have electricity flowing from your brain to your scalp
Can be brought on by putting light pressure on your neck near your carotid artery
Can be relieved by slowly standing up and taking a few steps

in my experience, when you start getting nausea, then it's cause for concern.

i have an anxiety disorder so i usually end up with some symptoms that aren't really there when i do cocaine. which is something to look into.. anxiety will definitely make you feel things that you can't understand to be in your head. but they are.

Thanks ohline, that is exactly what I needed to hear! I used to have problems with anxiety, and coke makes it come back a bit.

Wow, the comedown from coke feels like a fucking overdose. I'll just take 2mg of alprazolam after my last line from now on.

benzos have always helped me with the comedown and general anxiety i feel. just be careful.

honestly, those feelings and the depression i felt during the comedown is what turned me over to my darling opiates. i couldn't even look at myself in the mirror. now if i decide to give it a go for old time's sake i STILL become disgustingly restless, totally paranoid about my heart beat, and just the overall feeling that i'm not going to live through the next hour.

so i'll just take my opiates, while the coke watches from across the street like a jealous lover.

Something that starts 30 minutes after a line cannot be a comedown because snorted coke peaks 30 minutes after snorting, then tapers away within 60 minutes after that. What you feel is the effect of a peak. As to an overdose, the term is at best inappropriate because an overdose is something that ranges from severe impairment to loss of consciousness and possibly death. If you have chronic low blood pressure the coke will raise your bloodpressure to a level you seldom experience, and that may be uncomfortable.

I'm of the opinion that cocaine hcl, by itself, is not that awesome of a drug.

And when, might I ask, have you had the pleasure of trying it? I generally dislike all stimulants, I've always considered my DOC to be opiates, but recently I've been visiting Costa Rica a lot and the stuff there is just mind-blowingly good. It's weirdly relaxing, not at all moreish, and a $10 gram can easily last 3 nights.
