Variation between strains

hey guys

ive smoked a couple different strains of weed, along with a couple of herbal smoking blends. Yeah....there is like a subtle difference, but nothing major. Like the differences between different cigarettes, it just seems to be differences in strength rather then major differences in the high.

So my question is, are there really BIG differences in between any strains...like different kinds of high?! Or just differences in strengths? Like, if I go buy some "Ak-47" and then smoke it side by side some "schwagg" will it be like the difference between an ultra light and a marlboro Red or will it be like a huge difference, like between cocaine and heroin??

Yes there is a big difference some strains contain more cannaboids that cause a heavier body high (Indicas) some don't have the same concentration of cannaboids and cause more of a trippy head high (Sativas)

strange analogies...coke & heroin...not applicable to this situation. basically, you get the THC high from both "AK47" and "shwag." however, IME the AK gives one a much cleaner, longer lasting, happier high. shwag has a tendency to really make me lethargic and useless, not to mention following up w/ a headache.

think of the differences in quality (which correspond to price) as concentrations of THC. the better the weed, the higher concentration of THC crystals per weight. the more THC, the higher you get, and the less plant matter you have to combust to get there. with shwag, it takes a lot more plant matter to get high, hence the negative side effects.

I think the only strain differentiation is sativa vs inidica, either body or head stone nothing else. All other perceptions of variation between strains is purely placebo.
At least for me that's how it is most of the time im just getting high and either its strong or weak.... None of that mind fuck shit you hear about....im just getting high nothing special each time...

I personally don't think strains are all that people would have you believe. While different strains may contain more psychoactive constituents than others, thus dank gets you higher on smaller amount than schwag, I don't believe that strains are much botanically different. Variance in cannabinoids can vary from plant to plant, bud to bud. Many strains are sold as seed, so if you buy some AK-47 seeds to grow, you aren't growing AK-47, you are growing seeed of AK-47. As a result there is genetic diversity, including having the influence of the low-THC male parent.
