Whoa! 8o
Stunning view!!
I wanna go skiing on those mountains in Winter %)
(I'm assuming those trails are for ski runs when there's snow?)

yeah, its supposed to be an amazing place to ski, next to vail, where we spent part of the the day today. the other side of the mts is supposed to have lots of 'bowls' and snow board parks and more trails. oceans parents like to take the black diamonds routes(if thats a familiar oz term) or go off trail.

both are from trail ridge in estes park CO. the pic of the elk was one of a few bucks that stayed at a distance from a herd of around 30 or so - you can see the alpine line - were the trees stop growing, that is at around 12,000'.

It is indeed ;)
That's where I spend all my skiing time too %)

N2o- You may find this story amusing :)
For my 12th birthday my father decided to take the family on a ski trip.
My father was an instructor to ski instructors, and my mother was also a ski instructor......So They had us on skiis as soon as we could stand (truth. I have photos of me, barely able to stand on my own, in skiis) SO ANYWAY- We take this beautiful trip to Vail and my parents figured my brother and I were ready for double black diamonds.....My brother and I had raced slaloms before- and we figured we'd race down this incredibly difficult mountain- so we're racing and I get pissed b/c my brother (who is 4 years younger) is beating me- At 11/12 this is a major problem....So I decide I am going to go straight down, being the incredibly bright young girl I was- I am smacking my jaw and I am slamming over mogul after mogul and loost my poles- My mom was waiting at the catwalk below with her mouth wide open and I literally FLEW, my skis at her eye level, over this cliffside......Lost my skiis when I hit and somehow landed on my back so I am looking about 20+ feet up at my family peering over the edge at me! hahahahahaha
This is one of my brothers favorite stories to tell......

I prefer the one where he was buried in snow to his nose after trying to follow me thru the woods in untouched powder and I had to dig him out:)
Skiing was fun:)
Sorry- Long stories.

Hahaha that's a great story ocean!! Love it.
I don't have any skiing stories quite as dramatic as that!
But because I was the 2nd youngest kid in our family I was always trying to keep up. It was so frustrating at the time but it certainly forced me to become a better skier ;)
Now I'm the only one of the siblings in my family who still skis! Out the back of the mountain, off-piste, through the trees, knee-deep powder (we don't get deeper powder than that in Aus) and I'm happy as a pig in mud <3

Damn, now I want to go skiing dammit!! :!
And it's snowing as we speak in the Aussie snow fields...
Hmmm, might have to book a cheeky long weekend ski trip soon....

Oh you 'Mericans, with your guns ;). Looks fun though. The biggest gun that I've ever had the chance to shoot was a single 30-06 round, but I had to sit and be braced against the recoil since I was only 14 at the time. It was pretty neat.

Fun at the gun range..you a pretty good shot PIP?

Me, I just found a bunch of old pics lying around..well last night I did. I believe I was about 19 in this one and yes, that is a flowmaster sticker pasted above my door. This was around the time the original Fast and the Furious came out, so that was the cool thing to do. :)

i hadnt shot in a while, but use to often and have a good eye yes ;). i think its fun to shoot, and in that area it made me miss my SKS and scope- lots of vantage points and long long ranges of not-living-things to shoot in the rockies.

this is # 1or2 of my favs of the nature shots i took on our trip, and it was a random shot out the jet window while watching the landscape on the way home...

i dont know where it is, wyoming/colorado/oregon border area...? looks like a good place for a meet up. it was like that plus dry mountains for many many miles on the flight from denver to portland. no one would ever hear our screams. i got a couple shots of large fault lines too, i have no idea of their actual size, massive id suppose.
