Hey am really interested how the cannabis activates the opioid receptors or if it really does. I have read that it does but the article did not go in detail. Every time I smoke on opiates it hits me twice as hard. Also if i been smoking all day and take my opiate at night it hits me less like i used a bit of opiates in the morning on the days i have not might just be placebo but am not sure.

well i agree that smokin on opiates increases the buzz but i dunno about the using weed in the mornin n opiates n the evening and feelin like you used opiates already though

a substance doesnt have to work on opiate receptors to increase your Op high by the way,

also i suggest you have a mod move this to OD or BDD b/c i belive you will get better answers there as that is where more of the knowledgable opiate/ ex opiate users hang out more often

Yeah I was about to post it in od idk why i did not. Yeah I have a lot of first hand knowledge about opiates. Its not like how benzos and antihistmines make the nod stronger for me weed is like taking a weaker opiate in the sense of potenation like codeine or tramadol it adds warmth and euphoria and sedation for me. I can't really explain it. Maybe smoking all day just burns me out and i don't feel the opiate high that much.

Yeah when i start coming up good, heading towards peaking i start to crave a bong rip kuz something just feels missing. But that could just be cause im a stoner. When i actually do take my rip though i ... dont remember. I guess it does something good. : p

I barely enjoy my opiate high until I smoke weed :) It is my favorite drug combo.

Ya i know what you mean combined there pure bliss man. But I have to conserve if i use opiates one day then weed because i can't really stay sober and i hate running out of drugs suck. Am glad this got bumped maybe someone else can contribute. Also another question. I have a huge toorance to bud and since i take opiates i try to limit myself to smoking once a day instead of like 4-7 times a day. Does this lower tolorance at all?

just make a new one there n explain why you double posted or request a mod to move it by sendin a mod request.

im not tryin to be rude i just think that is def your best bet if you do want quality input

If you only smoke once per day you will appreciate the effects much more, that has been how I usually do it. Also taking a couple days off from weed really helps with the experience IMO.

I think cannabiz or at least, THC, doesn't impact or directly 'work' on opiate receptors, as much as it has a 'downstream' effect via endorphins.

lol. The first link basically says the Mu opiod recepter and CB1 recepter are friends with possibly few benefits. Thats if thier research doesnt prove they are friends with full benefits. Okee

The second link is about a study with this thesis or w/e.

"The mechanism of action of cannabidiol, one of the major constituents of cannabis, is not well understood but a noncompetitive interaction with mu opioid receptors has been suggested on the basis of saturation binding experiments". Sadly i cant make sense out of the mess of numbers that follows. Someone enlighten me. : )

the only reason i dont think it does it because when im in opiate withdrawl when i smoke herb it doesnt take it a way even though it does help calm me down. no scientific evidence or anything just my thoughts. it would be cool if opiate weed was invented, seeing as thats one of my favorites as well.

It doesn't act on opiate receptors in any way i know....

However with the opiate your hitting your opiate receptors, and with cannabis your hitting cannabinoid receptors, It has a way of making the opiate seem stronger because of the sedative and pain releiving effects of THC.

One of the potential uses i see in modern medicine for it, if you can combine weed with opiates and have the same amount of pain relief at half the dose, your looking at far less of a chance of addiction or harmful side effects of opiates and your much farther from a point where one would overdose.

^^ and to the guy above. opium on a bowl is fucking awesome...

The reason you feel so much better when you smoke and do opiates is because of something called "drug synergy", not because your weed is working your opiate receptors. I'm sure there are a few obscure studies/research that may refute that, but at the end of the day, in practical life the answer is simply good synergy..

I could understand why you might think otherwise though, opiates and ganja are my personal favorite drug-combo as well.. It almost seems impossible how well they go together huh? ;)

to be honest, i have found few drugs that don't go well with weed....

2c-i and MDMA would have to be the most chilled out tripping face experience i have ever had, i did not stand for like 5 hours.... Got lost in the fractals, the music, and the chaos while melting into a chair.... Reality was destroyed...
