Smearing Oil On A Joint; How Well Does It Work?

My question is how good does smearing some oil on a weed/tobacco joint work?

1. How good is this method or how wasteful is it?

2. Does it make a difference if you smear the oil on the inside of the paper before rolling it as opposed to having it rolled and then smearing oil on the outside of the joint?

3. If you smear oil on a joint where should you smear it (top, center, etc)? Does the oil 'drip' down the joint as it is being smoked?

I know hot knives are the best method when using oil but my experience with oil, has been only from people once or twice on which both occasions I was drunk so didn't really know what they were doing. However I do remeber they were smearing small amounts on the lit tips of cigarettes and inhaling that, which did taste like oil and got me buzzed but it seemed like too much work and too much tobacco smoke.

I haven't smoked oil much except once or twice so my experince in this field is extremily limited. Hash is something that I also have been smoking for the past year or so as opposed to cannabis which i've been smoking for the past 10-11 years.

I am not a very handy person so my biggest concern with hot knives is all joking aside, seriously getting burned when getting high. I have even heard of people using the seweing (sp?) iron to smoke oil, which again is something I wouldn't like to try. Since I started smoking hash I have *always* smoked it either in a pipe or a joint (mostly a pipe) even if it wasn't pressed hash. Only one time I tried to do hot knives with hash (strong afghani that was supposed to be very good on knives) and it didn't seem to work very well (or maybe someone should come teach me how to do it).

Either way the point is I like to avoid knives at all costs when it comes to hash!

The simplest method which I have seen people doing and I like for the simplicity, is smearing a little oil on weed or tobacco joints (after it is rolled they will smear some oil on the outside of the joint).

I think they were doing that trick where you make a hole in a pop bottle and place the lit cig inside with a bit of hash/oil on it and inhale from the top.

I'm sure putting the oil on the weed works, but its not the most efficient method. I'd say vaporization or smoking it similar to hash is your best bet.

If I were you I'd use a specific oil smoking method or put some oil in layers in a nice bowl of weed, mmmm....
 
Putting oil in a joint or worse smearing it on the paper tends to make it burn very poorly and unevenly. It's certainly not impossible, but I avoid it. Oil on top of a bowl works much better and direct flame doesn't destroy it - if it did it would also destroy the THC in unprocessed cannabis. Using a glass screen works well on its own.
 
heres a good trick just follow me.

1get some oil
2put a decent amount in a spoon prob just .2-.4 depeneding on your tolerance and how strong you want the end product to be
3 heat up the spoon like your doin H or somethin and move the flame around cuz your just tryin to get the oil liquidy not heat it up to smoke it
4 before you heat up the oil have about a J's worth of green pre ground up
5. once oil is heated and is a liquid in the spoon, add ground bud into spoon and coat weed
6. not all the weed will fit in spoon so take oily weed in spoon and put it in pile of the rest of the ground bud n mix it thoroughly
7 use enough bud so it isnt too sticky just kinda oily

end result is a product good for rollin and also good for transporting places to smoke bowls with homies without bringin a fuckin tool kit

It works, but the hash oil explodes in your face sometimes
 
^what are you talkin about? tried it much?

if your oil exploded, then it sounds like it wasnt fully purged or purged properly at all most likely.

i use oil alot n i have never heard of the oil exploding after the production process
sooo what are you sayin?
 
Yeah the first time I put hash oil on a joint it exploded in my face, then when I put it on cigarettes and pipes it worked fine
