My comment was more of a general one not pointed at your extraction method.
Anyway, even though the unwanted stuff in the plant material cannot form salts does not make it completely insoluble in an acidic solution, it functions on an equilibrium. When doing a method almost exactly like yours I've had to defat the acidic layer a bit.
 
How can plant oils be soluble in acidic water? Anyway, if there is a layer of naphtha present, in which the plant oils are better soluble in, wouldn't they prefer to stay in that layer?
 
Yes the majority would prefer that layer, Most of the plant crap is not all too soluble in naphtha either unless you leave it in for a while or heat it.
I'm just saying in my experience I've had some stuff from the plant that made it from bark-->naptha-->acidicsolution-->naptha when i've done that method, but washing the acidic solution a few times with nonpolar solvent always cleaned it up and gave me nice white crystals.

Shoulda heard the song me and a buddy made in Rumson 2 days ago. Was the best I've ever done for serious.
