Treatment Not Torture

Jesus.

I thought my own country (USA) was backward.

And if you think all the examples given are bad - do remember that Thailand is not better. It is, after all, the place where whole families were publicly executed in an effort to prevent meth abuse.

Just a little caveat if you're still thinking of going there ;).

As for the article, well, there are many reasons why I actually hate Singapore and China (and Thailand) as countries. This is one of them.

These people are sub-human. They consent to the actions of their sub-human governments, and in the case of drug policy, even back their governments' attitudes.

Eh I don't think this is fair. In the US, various parts of the country following the Harrison Act and other drug legislation enacted mandatory minimums up to life in prison for simple possession of small amounts of Heroin.

Dozens of other countries have similar excessive and abusive policies regarding drug use, dealing, possession, etc in the past and present.

Given a forum to voice their opinion, I bet many in the US would ask for similar treatment be given to addicts and drug users/dealers here.

Drug legislation is police state legislation, criminalizes a state of being. Just like institutional racism and other state backed laws to control segments of the population. A failure of the human condition is lack of empathy in groups.

The drug war is just centered around money. Until the way that money is circulated changes, these people will always have power. That is why CHANGE is the only hope we have right now. IMHO. Not that that will actually happen.
