Purple Buds? I dont care!

I've noticed a lot of times that people can get really focused on certain aspects of whatever strain really knocked their socks off at one point in the past.

If it happened to be a purp strain then they will keep looking to anything purple, regardless of breeding.

People also do that a lot with things like smell, color/amount of hairs/crystals on each bud, how dense or airy buds are, etc..

In my personal experiences, those details almost never matter by themselves - only in connection with other characteristics.

The only way I can truly judge a strain I haven't smoked before it by lighting it up.

Purps were like that for me, at first. They are just cool if you haven't had the chance to smoke them. Once you go through several types of different colored bud and realize it doesn't affect the quality outright, it stops mattering as much.

Cold temps in the last few weeks of flowering will make almost any strain go purple. IMO, most weed that is supposed to be purple sucks balls. People who say it's the greatest thing since sliced bread are actually fooling themselves into thinking they're higher.

i live in atl and purp is always 25$ a g' bud...the name "purp" is now synonymous with high quality so sometimes purp isn't really even purple..

it does kind of seem like purple color does indicate a higher potency but that might not be completely true as i have heard that the temp. can make the bud turn purple..

on the other i've heard of people seeing purple on mids so that disproves that all purple is really high quality but to me as far as i've seen purple is usually on some dank ass bud...

it's fukking weed people...just put it in your pipe and smoke it.....maybe then you'll stop worrying about what color it is....

weed coniseuers and affeceanados are buggin

I'm happy if it's just plain ol green

Most people dont wanna drink shitty tasting liquor though. Probably the same logic they use with thier pot.

I mean when you are going to buy beer, do you really squeeze the pennies for 211 Steel Reserve or do you put a little more out to get a better tasting beer?

I agree. I don't really care much if the weed is purple. The only thing that REALLY matters is taste/smell/potency. If it happens to be purple cool but I won;t pay extra for something just because it is purple.

Real purple strains like purple urkle and grand daddy purp have a distinctive taste. These strains aren't always that purple but they always taste great.

I wouldn't pay a cent more for Purple weed, unless of course there was a financial incentive in it for me. But on topic, I don't think it really makes a difference if your weed is Purple or not. Heck, in a lot of cases it could be a BAD thing - low temperatures can stress the plant out, which common sense tells us, would most likely have negative effects on THC/CBD and other Canabinoid production.

Good genetics, and expert growing knowledge is what equates to top notch weed. I've smoked so much average "chronic" (basically another word for "hydro" here, which often gets confused with "indoor") it's not funny... I guess people are stupid enough to be fooled by colours and lingo.

In order for the buds to turn purple upon lowering of temperature don't they need a certain genetic code for the pigmentation? how common is this gene? also i belived purple= dank usually because the same strains that have the gene for purple have a high cannibinoid concentration.

Its the result of a breakdown in chlorophyll if i recall correctly....

The reason i think purple weed is generally pretty good is that anyone that is going to put the effort into cooling the room during budding is someone that knows generally what the fuck they are doing and thus we get really well grown pot.

but there are some straings genetically predisposed to purple pigmentation...

I pay the same price for purp as i do any other color or high quality strain....

u need to understand that there are two types of purple weed. There is the weed where people either leave it in the ground longer or the cool it till it turns purple. Or there is real "purp" real purp isnt even always purple but it has a distinct taste. I'll describe it as it burns my tounge when i smoke it and is always bomb and an indica.

i can't say much on the subject... but I've been getting what has been called Purple Kush from Cali lately and I ain't complaining. Is it 20% thc? who knows... but it's goooooooooood. :)

Truth. Real purps has a very distinct taste. It doesn't even have to be purple as long as it has that taste. Almost like grape candy or something. I love it.

oh.. my.. god.

so i just got a bag of what i'm told is grape ape. i know it's traditionally a purple strain, but is it possible that it could still be that strain with no purple at all?

the weed's great, so i would have bought it whether it was grape ape or not . . i'm just curious about the lack of color.
