Well first I'll start with, when 2 of my friends were on acid long before I ever tried it, and me and some other friends weren't on anything yet, waiting for our booze we swore we were getting some sort of contact high from the people on acid, not so sure about that one but-

The other day I was on acid and I was petting my kitty and he was acting really strange, in a good way... His eyes got really big and was staring at me straight in the eyes for along time, and also he started to rub his face and stuff... I dunno but it made me think if they can get contact highs.

impossible. unless they swallowed gallons of acid and were sweating it out.
the cat could probably tell you were acting different causing him to act different

So contact highs are myths?? It was soo cute, the cat was rubbing his face and had a huge smile :>

Yes, cats can tell. Humans are not as good at it, but they can do it somewhat. Some are better at it than others.

So do you think he just picked up on it that I was in a different conciousness and was happy and it made him happy and act different?

Mirror neurons as a mechanism for contact highs is a stretch, that's for sure. The complexity of behavior involved in tripping, combined with the fact that it's not your behavior causing the trip but rather a compound with decently established pharmacology causing the behavior... sigh.

It is far more likely that you were just high, were paying attention to your cat, and he responded in kind.

Pff, I always pay attention to my cat :D MAybe he just picked up that I was in a great mood and decided to be extra cute :)

A whole bunch of people in my area swear that when your on mdma and you pet an animal, say cat or dog, they absorb mdma from your skin/sweat through there furr(is this possible) and they get fucked up from it.

Like at this guys house if your on ecstasy and he see's you petting one of his dogs he gets pissed.

I have a hard time believing it, and i would like some intelligent input.

what do you's think?

my buddy dropped a e pill once and the cat ate it,now that was a fucked up cat. his eyes were in the back of his head and he didnt move and we gave him lightshows haha he would follow the lights. he twiches all the time now. poor thing

Aww poor kitty.

Firstly I wholeheartedly believe there is some sort of psychic link across all living things. Like an interconnected web. And the more in tune you are with certain things, the more info that gets sent across them.

For instance, I often know my closest friends/family's thoughts before they say them, and have even unlocked a door before people were about to walk in.

Anyway, its just a theory of course, but I think I notice it in my life.

On topic, with my dog in particular. Little doggy I've had for like 6 years. And when I trip on things, I feel more connected to this psychic web and as a result the dog. I can tell the dog knows where I am and mentally is different. The dog has come over and licked my hand at moments where I have had difficulty in the trip. It has actually at times helped me out in weird ways. Like on DXM one time, I was really hot but like my mind couldnt associate what to do to fix it, and the dog scratched the window something it never does.

Contact highs... Interesting, because when I was frying on acid my friend did not let me touch her dog. She worried if her dog were to lick me the dog would trip from my sweat. I doubt it though.

I like the idea the mirror neurons could be partly responsible for contact highs. I don't think it would work between different species because we wouldn't be able to pick up on their behavioral cues as well but I could be wrong. Now that I think about it, I am certain that pets have at least some rudimentary ability to interpret our behavior.

I think it is possible that if a person knows you are high and is observing your behavior they could start to pick up on what your behavior seems to be reflecting and begin to act and feel that way themselves. If you are acting all giddy and ecstatic then they may too. I myself have never really experienced this too any real degree but some people may be more susceptible to it than others.

I've been to raves and been in the room with 1000 people all rolling face and gotten a heavy heavy sensation of rolling. Another time my friend dosed with his girlfriend and he didn't tell her. She actually started saying weird things about the way things looked and how she felt different when we stood outside to smoke a cig. Me and my friend just looked at each other and grinned. I don't know what it is. I had always figured mirror neurons but if some believe it is a stretch then what could it be? I guess just the energy and joy radiating off people in these states of mind?

Oh, it's a bit of a stretch from what we know... but then not all that much about the mirror neuron system is known yet, right? It's not inconceivable that a complex system of mirror neurons may be involved in more complex behavioural modeling and prediction as well as responding to simple movements.

combined with the fact that it's not your behavior causing the trip but rather a compound with decently established pharmacology causing the behavior... sigh.
Not sure why that would be relevant... Sure, the acid caused your behaviour, which in turn (maybe) impacts on the cat via the mirror neurons, which in turn produces behaviour in the cat. Just because acid is responsible for my behaviour, doesn't mean that it has to be responsible for the cat's behaviour.

It is far more likely that you were just high, were paying attention to your cat, and he responded in kind.
Very plausible, yes. And a simpler explanation, too. :) Well, one could test between the two explanations to an extent by having one trip where you behave near a cat but without paying it direct attention; and another time where you pay the cat as much attention as you would when tripping, but while behaving normally in other respects. :)

Again nothing is real solid on our brains. We dont know a lot about them do we.

I personally love my theory and it makes sense to me.

I dont know but when ever I trip on Mushrooms my cat comes to find me, he will sit around near me acting strange staring at things that arn't there and going all wide-eyed.
Its almost like he protects me from bad trips because this one time i was having the worst trip ever and my cat came up sat next to me and started licking my arm which defeated the head fuck.
I have also been on mushies before and gone to meet a friend with 2 of my other mates who were on mushies too, as soon as we met the friend who was not on anything he said that just being with us was making him feel like the happyness/laughter trip that comes when shroomin.
