So I put my bowl in a bag with salt and rubbing alcohol and shook it for awhile, I added some hot water and shook more, but there is still a bunch of gunk in the stem which is two seperate chambers, I can see a lot of brown shit from the outside and it is completely blocking the airway. I don't have anything flexible enough to get in these areas so I can't scrape it. I'm afraid I'll break my bowl if I try to boil it. Any tips?

I did the exact same thing and have also had minimal results. I did the process a few times, letting it sit about 20 minutes and shaking it around, the whole spiel. A few things I can suggest is use kosher/epsom salt simply because the crystals are larger and therefore more abrassive. Also I hear its better to use 99% isopropyl alcohol. I used like 60% or something and that may have been a reason mine didn't work so well.

Also buying a thing of pipe cleaners to shove through the bowl while the resin is nice and soaked in alcohol/water will make it much much easier to remove with the pipe cleaners.

Any other tips? I'm still trying to figure out how to completely clean my bowl as well..

let that shit sit for a while. i usually let my dirtiest pipes sit over night.

or try some "grunge off: super soaker" no shaking required i have heard very nice things about it. and if u strain it, it is re-usuable.

yeah sounds like its time to break out the harder solvents. Denatured alcohol acetone or goof oof, does serious damage to resin, also letting it soak overnight is good advice.

and if all of that still fails, you may have to brave the boil, just leave it in the water for like an hour after you boiled it for like 20 minutes untill it is cool enough for you to reach into the water and grab your piece. it wont break. i promise.
^ happy 420th post ting tang

I'll try boiling it when I get a chance, I think all I have to do is put the bowl in the pot, add water, and let it boil with the pipe inside. Then when its good, let the water cool by itself. Just so no rapid change in temperature occurs.

soak it in boiling isopropyl alcohol/kosher salt mix.

lol jk, don't do that. it's a really bad idea.

...but if you do do it, try to have a friend film it and post it up here. =D

get a large cup... put 99% alcohol in it with salt... Let your bowl sit in it for about an hour. Run water through it, then use Q-tips to get what you can off... Fill the cup back up with hot water and salt, submerge the bowl, using another Q-tip (you can bend q-tips and everyone has em) or tissue on the end through the rush.

Works for me... Or try boiling it anyway.

even my most resinated pipe only had to sit for about a total of 2-3 hours. every 20-30 minutes, i would shake it vigorously for about 5 minutes. make sure you tilt the bag around and get some of the salt INTO the pipe before you start shaking it

I had a real bendy Sherlock and q-tips and hot running water from the faucet as well as an ISO alcohol/salt soak and shake helped clean out my piece.

yeah if you want use a paper clip and 'unfold' it so you can scrape out the hard to reach places...

iso wash it then get some floral wire and feed it in through the carb and pull it out and repeat all the resin should come out since it will be softened and loosened from the iso wash this works wonders for my pipes.

never use straight metal, unless you want to scratch up the color on the inside of your piece. fuzzy pipe cleaners are the shit, and safe for all pieces. or try those plastic coated paperclips.
